Ramada Hotel & Suites South Padre Island

Great place for budget minded folks looking for a clean friendly place to stay. Wonderful staff. Good free breakfast and free evening happy hour.
Pool area and grounds are well kept.
Not fancy, but homey.
We will definitely stay again.

We stayed a total of 4 nights here and for the price (about $ 220 its hard to complain). The staff was AWESOME. The breakfast attendant was excellent at his job. He offered all kinds of options for things to do on the island, cleaned up our table as we were finishing up, and was just a friendly dude.
We had a few issues, but nothing serious. Our room didn’t have a remote, that was quickly attended to. Our room keys kept «deactivating», also a quick fix. Also, our tub wouldn’t drain. But we called the front desk and someone came to our room within 5 minutes to fix it.
The hotel itself was outdated in terms of décor and appearance. But again, for $ 40 a night (Saturday was $ 60 but sunday-​tuesday were $ 40) its very hard to complain.
The pool area was perfect for our family. My two sons, 4 & 5, loved the pools. The «kiddie» pool was a small (maybe 5′ x 5′) area that was only 1 ½ ft deep and the main pool went from 3−5ft. Deep enough to play in comfortably for all 4 of us. I enjoyed sitting out on a lounger at night listening to the music playing over the speaker system, while I waited for my laundry. The laundry and fitness services weren’t impressive, but enough to get the job done.
They also offer a small recreational area with a basketball goal, volleyball net, and two putting holes. These are located near the «private access» to the beach. I’m not sure if the hotel offers equipment to use though.
I almost forgot «Beam». The TVs in the rooms offer a small selection of free movies. My kids and I appreciated that very much considering most of the channels available were in Spanish.
Overall, we would probably stay here again. Considering the price, this place made our vacation so affordable, spending more money at the local restaraunts wasnt as painful as it could’ve been. And the customer service is worth coming back for.

We are just finishing up a week stay here at the Ramada. It’s been an excellent hotel with no real complaints. Walk to the beach is perfect, rinse off station so you don’t track sand everywhere and room has all the comforts that we need. Staff have all been nice and accommodating (like putting air in all 4 of our tubes for the beach, etc). We will stay here again! Only minor issue is you hear a lot of outside noise but it is a vacation place and people are here to have fun. No big deal!
You wouldn’t go wrong staying here!

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Luis is superb and provides excellent customer service. If I could suggest anything it would be to fix the pathway to beach– it is very narrow. However, we did adjust to it after a few trips to the beach.
