Express

If you feel like standing in line to buy overpriced clothes and be helped by rude people, visit this store. I hate writing such strong reviews against any business but sadly this has been my experience time and time again.

Nothing beats an early Black Friday sale, right? Wrong. They ought to just call it «It’s Wednesday, everything is already sold out, and we don’t care to help you order anything because the computer system has crashed.» I met my friend here to do some holiday party outfit shopping — her favorite store, not mine. I’m not sure why I expected customer service to be better today than on other normal occasions here. Anyway, the store is always overheated by the mega-​watt runway lights and they are always low on selection. I asked one associate if there were any other of an item, to which her response was «everything is out on the floor.» That’s fine, but then I heard her say to a guy who was looking for an item «if you don’t see one out there, we can always order it for you online — and anything we order in store comes with free shipping.» What a crock of ho-​hum. Anyway, I’ll just do future shopping with them online, or better yet, there are better clothing stores out there for women that I can be supporting.

This is one of the best express locations I have visited. I needed some cool new work clothes. The associates spent time listening to what I wanted and what would work best for me and then brought me a bunch of stuff to try. I ended up getting some great stuff.

I recently lost a bunch of weight and am now shopping at regular size stores, cue Express. Mind you I am not tiny tiny I wear a size large or x-​large in tops and ¹²⁄₁₄ in bottoms. I went in here looking for a few tops. This store was sooo picked over for sizes. Hardly any large tops to be found. Either they don’t order enough (chime in Lululemon) or they don’t think «bigger» gals should be in the store. I found this extremely frustrating. Plus I noticed a lot of the colors were red, black and hot pink. Not much variety there either. When I had to go find someone to get me a dressing room I searched for about 3 – 4 minutes before I found an employee. Again frustrating. They do have cute jewelry though!

I have diligently shopped at this store for the past few years, but recently I think I’ve had one too many mishaps to go back.
Their selection is very limited. They almost never have their items in the store available in every size. If you want to go shop Express, go to the one downtown. That’s where they always try to send me when they say they are out of something anyway…
The one time that I did opt to order something online, the sales associate was kind enough to order it from the store to be shipped to my house for free. I thought that was great customer service until I got the wrong color of the shirt… twice. After I got the wrong color the first time, I brought it back into the store and talked to an associate about ordering another one. I had the color that I wanted to order in my hand, but it was almost impossible to tell which one that was on the screen. I don’t think it was his fault, the screen we were looking on was super old, the color was off and there was no catalog number to which to compare the shirt. The associate called the shift manager over and he seemed incredibly un-​enthused to help. He basically walked over and said «wow, that’s confusing, you’ll just have to make a good guess on that one!» and walked away. Really sort of left the associate hang out to dry, and subsequently led to me getting the wrong color shirt again.

All I have to say is that the staff here are friendly and helpful but the selection is too limited. I’d rather go out of my way to downtown Seattle to enjoy the variety of sizes, colors, and styles the Pacific Place store offers.

I recently had a interview where I had to dig out my work clothes and realized that I have outgrown them all. That is a ‘good’ thing as it’s been years since I’ve had to wear such outfits and I’ve lost a decent amount of weight recently.
So I ran to the Express in Southcenter (review to be posted separately) and bought some updated pants as well as some tops to go with.
The store ended up having a sale the day AFTER I bought my clothes so I ran back to this location to swap out since the savings was quite significant.
The clerks weren’t too helpful (I had to go hunt someone down to get me a fitting room) as well as just having one person work the register when the line had more than 2 people in it.
I’m not sure how much longer Express can stay in business with tops regularly priced at $ 50 and pants at $ 70. Some stuff can be cute but they tend to go over the top (lots of glitter/​sparkles/​etc).

Express? More like Exprensive. I love to spend money on clothes but for some reason Express’ clothes tend to fall apart like the stuff at Forever 21. Not all pieces but some. Additionally at this particular store the service was awful. I stood at the register to buy clothes for a few minutes while a store employee watched me just stand and wait. Eventually another person came over to ring me up. Not impressed. No wonder I hadn’t been in an Express for years.

I really like Express apparel, even though their «work clothing» is sooo low-​cut.
