Falafel, if properly made, is food fit for a king. Dense but not heavy, crispy but not oily, and spiced but not over done. It is quite hard to find falafel that doesn’t feel like a rock sitting in my stomach after I’ve eaten it so I am hesitant to order it when I go out. When I went to lunch with my coworker, he highly recommended Athina’s and we happened to be in the area. I wanted a filling lunch but knew I had to be walking around for a few hours after so I was hoping the falafel pita would do the trick. I upgraded the fries to Greek fries which had oregano, feta, salt, and pepper. My coworker ordered the lamb gyro. The service was quick and the falafel was perfect. Exactly as I had hoped! Not too heavy, crispy outside and soft inside. The tzatsiki was flavorful and those Greek fries were the best I’ve ever had. The feta was shaven over top and the oregano gave it a flavor I’m not used to with normal Greek fries. It helped kick them up a notch. My coworker, of course, loved his gyro and was stealing some of my fries during the meal.(I didn’t mind since the portion was pretty big!) Whenever I’m back in the area and have a hankering for Greek, I’m coming back here!

Great food! Had the befteki, Greek village salad, a lamb kabob, and, of course, baklava! All of it was perfect. The restaurant was near empty due to it being Sunday(football day). Service was excellent will definitely be back soon.

This is my favorite place in lower Queen Anne to eat when I’m not getting my sushi fix on! When I’m not craving California rolls, I’m dying for a euro! This place is by far the best… There lamb euros are bursting with flavor and packed full. Other places I’ve been really skimp on the filling but not Athina grill! Quick service and delicious food. I always order a side on lamb with a side of tzatziki along with my pita. I put the lamb in the fridge and bring it the next day for lunch. Nothing is better than Greek two days in a row! My whole family loves eating here and the prices are very reasonable for how much food you get. The fries are amazing, the baklava is yum yum yum. Definitely stop in for lunch or dinner, you will be happy you did and leave full and satisfied. Thank you for preparing such delicious food so close to my apartment :) you guys are amazing :)

I usually come here for lunch or dinner after work and will normally(always) get the Egg plant And Smoked Mozzarella Pita with fries. Seriously, I have not found another place that makes an Eggplant pita sandwich like they do. It’s basically 2 – 3 decent size slices of grilled eggplant, topped with melted mozzarella cheese, garlic walnut spread as the base for the pita(the spread is what makes it taste good), plus some sautéed red bell peppers. The fries are the thin kind(McDonald’s lookalike) and taste alright fresh. If you get them to go, be sure not to let them go cold, because they become floury and lose their crisp. I suggest only getting them if you order«For Here». I sometimes get a baklava to complete my meal, but they are a little pricey in my opinion, and a little sweet(sweet as baklava should be anyway…). Both the traditional and chocolate ones are good, but I can’t say too much about them, as I’m not much of a baklava connoisseur(yet). Atmosphere wise, I love the music that they have going. If you go there often, you will know the track, because I’ve heard the same tunes since 2012 – 2015. Most of the time it’s Bouzouki originals and covers of popular music. Love it, though!

Divine! Unfortunately, I had to dine here alone as my wife Deb was away on maneuvers with her reserve unit.

I was super excited to get my Greek food fix at this place, especially after reading all the positive reviews. Sadly, it didn’t live up to the hype for me. My boyfriend and I ordered hummus to share, gyros, and the Greek fries. Here’s the breakdown. GREAT: –the interior was very clean and had nice décor and comfortable seating –the Greek fries were tasty! NOTSOGREAT: –despite the space heater that was on in the corner of the restaurant, it was still chilly inside, brrrr! –my boyfriend and I could barely eat the hummus… it tasted bitter/sour to us. :(I love hummus. –the chicken gyro had WAY toooo much tzatziki sauce on it, and it was alot thicker than I’ve ever experienced this type of sauce(that I normally love) to be… which made the gyro a bit unappetizing and difficult for me to enjoy. The chicken also was not very tender. Maybe it was an off day for this restaurant? But I don’t think I’ll be trying this place again.

I haven’t tried many different foods from here because the one I order always tastes so good! And every time I go there the lady who takes order is always so nice! I can’t wait to try more food from there! Their hummus is my favorite! Pita bread is so good too!

Sorry no pictures of our food. Just actually really forgot to take them lol. We were so hungry that we just started to eat when it arrived. Nice atmosphere very quiet with a very warm and calming setting. The service was good she had good knowledge of the different dishes and was able to help us pick from the very delicious looking items on the menu. Everything was hot and fresh. If ever back in the area definitely will stop by again and try something new… Thanks.

Went here for dinner. I think the air conditioning may have been broke/unused as the door was open and there were a couple fans, but it was a nice day so we were comfortable. The décor inside is nice, with a ceramic tile rooftop and vines hanging down. Makes you feel like you’re dining outside in Europe. We ordered hummus-yummus ;) I got the special which was beef medallions over spaghetti, and my mom ordered(I can’t recall the name of the dish) some sort of meat with pepper in it? Both were good, although mine was so rich I couldn’t finish it(it IS pasta, though). Overall, the food and service was good. Giving 4 stars because of the perhaps broken AC and the service was a bit slow for it being only us and one other couple.

Tasty and quick. If you want a Greek fix in Lower Queen Ann, this is your place. Hummus, baklava, gyros? Oh my! I’ll have to sample more than my usual meal to truly say if this place stands out. I mean it does considering it’s surrounded by Thai, Indian food, and cafés.

My boyfriend and I came here after seeing a show at SIFF Uptown, which is across the street from it. Since we had our dog, we needed to find a place with patio seating, which is limited on lower Queen Anne. But fortunately, Athina had two sets of tables out. I ordered the mousaka, an eggplant, ground beef and potato dish while my boyfriend had the stuffed lamb with feta entrée. I had never had mousaka before, but after trying it at this place, it makes me want to learn how to make my own. It was sooo good! I didn’t want to stop eating, but took most of it home since it was so hearty and filling. I tried some of my boyfriend’s and if you like lamb, you will like this dish. It had that gamey taste with fresh feta and herbs. Both of our entrees were under 13 bucks and well-worth it. All the entrees come with rice, stewed peas and pita. The stewed peas were really good, but the pita and rice seemed to be dry and cold. It probably was out all day while everything else was freshly cooked. Overall, it was a good dinner.

I love Athinas; my friends and I regularly order take out from there and it is always delicious and reliable. The service is quick and friendly, and the food is consistently good. I would recommend Athina’s over its competitors any day. The gyro or the Greek salad are my go to favorites. Edit: Thanks for using pitted olives! You’re the best!

Decided to try this place out during lunch today, and was quite disappointed. I couldn’t even finish half of it before I threw it away. The falafel was tough, extremely salty, dry, and over seasoned. Felt like a bus load of salty cumin hit my mouth. My throat still feels odd from all that salt. The only good part were their shoestring fries. I’ll continue to eat at the Golden Olive instead. Their falafel is leagues ahead of Athina’s.

Disclaimer: I’m from out of town, so I may misinterpret some of the foods. I ordered the dolmades(not pictured) and a combination chicken/gyro pita sandwich with fries. I’ve gotta say, I wasn’t impressed with the dolmades, but I recognize that they are often prepared differently based on the region/culture they are trying to emulate — for that reason I’ll simply say they were too soggy for my liking and leave it at that. The pita sandwich on the other hand was simply wonderful. The chicken was perfectly moist and flavorful while the gyro provided an energetic crunch and spice. I’m not sure why the combo isn’t on the menu, but it was perfect. The Greek fries were about par for what I expected. I’d give that plate a solid 8⁄10. The staff and environment were very pleasant, both being authentic in feel. I enjoyed the atmosphere and left with a smile on my face!

4 star reviews in urban villages seem to be a gamble. We’ve been on a such a roll with Greek, I felt we could do no wrong and pointed us here for brunch a couple of Sundays ago. It’s located in an aging section of QA Blvd right across from another Mediterranean restaurant about which I’d also heard good things. They possess no lot of their own but but we found a parking spot in a disused strip mall right across the street. It’s clean and charmingly decorated inside. A friendly lady greeted us and seated us right away with only one other party dining that day. I felt like eating light. I ordered the dolmades and pita plate with a single skewer of chicken souvlaki. My companion ordered the gyro. They give you 8 cold dolmathes with one pita cut into wedges served with a standard solid tzaziki. I got about 3 dolmathes in before I realized the level of flavor wasn’t worth continuing to ingest. I filled up on the pita and sauce instead since the skewer was pretty charred and thinly seasoned. He said his gyro was okay, but made us long for Shawarma King or Kokoras. I think we offended them by not asking to box up our leftovers, but why bother when I knew I’d be wasting styrofoam? If we couldn’t win ordering a Greek staple, I knew there must be something holding this restaurant to its four star status and it must be local following.

Greek diner in LQA — who knew?! Cozy, low-key café with friendly staff — hits the spot when all you want is simple comfort food. Friend enjoyed her standard chicken souvlaki dinner, I had the falafel dinner. Tasty, fresh pita. Admittedly have had better falafel but the Greek salad was fresh and well-dressed. Portions are generous(2 meals) and super reasonable at $ 10 – 12. Will be back for gyros and Greek fries :)

Need some Greek than you’ll find that this lower Queen Anne place will fill your needs. For the pita sandwich lover I must say I’m a huge fan of the chicken souvlaki sandwich here. Chicken is grilled but very moist and served in fresh pita along with onions, tomatoes and fresh tzatziki sauce. Also the gyro sandwich is good but not my favorite item on menu. Greek salad is worth ordering but very basic yet flavorful. As a french fry connoisseur the greek fries perfect and laced in feta. Makes me want to yell OPA! The rest of the menu is basic greek cuisine you either love it or not. But a place worth checking out when in the area.

Let me start out by saying one thing: fries. The biggest part of this review is going to be about the fries. They are seriously delicious! I probably could have orders just fries and still given it a four star review. Okay now back to everything else, the restaurant was very clean and the staff was attentive and friendly! I ordered the veggie hummus pita and was a little disappointed because it was very bland but I think that’s was my bad for not ordering something else. My boyfriend ordered a chicken pita and said it was really good(and he loved the fries as much as I did). If you’re looking for an easy place to enjoy some falafel, definitely check this place out.

Stopped here for a late night dinner because it was one of the only places open and it was right near the hotel I was staying at. Boy, am I glad I did! I absolutely love Greek food, and did not have too high of expectations for just a hole-in-the-wall place like this. The service was not too bad. I did have to wait for what felt like a very long time for the food, and the place was pretty much empty. However, that could have been because they were about to close/they were understaffed/etc. I got a Falafel Platter, asked for no cheese. They put cheese on my salad, and then gave me a separate salad? It was not a big issue though. The food was very very good. Best part? Got the whole freaking plate for just $ 5! It came with a Greek salad, hummus, rice, falafel, hummus, and pita bread. A TON of food for that price. Falafel can be hit or miss for me, but that is some dang good falafel. My boyfriend, who does not really eat Greek food, got a Gyros pita and enjoyed it too. This place exceeded my expectations and I am sad that I live in Arizona and can’t come here all the time, because if I lived in the area, I so would!
