Once upon a time, dear reader, Blockbuster was a major powerhouse. Now days, it’s in a sad decline and is closing various locations, such as this one on Lower Queen. But when store closes, there are usually great liquidation sales to be found! The store is only open for six more days and now is the time that you can pick up some decent used titles for $ 2.99.

This is very sad as the day has come… The lower Queen Anne location is officially closing. Get your old dvds and fixtures while you can. The staff here was very kind and helpful. They use to have a score all of the recent movies. Best of yet, the manager looked like he was Sylvester Stallone’s brother. Anyway the review is prolly a moot point besides informing you guys the store’s closing. The existing locations are Ballard and Capitol Hill. Good luck to them, this QA Blockbuster will be missed. Minus 1 star for closing.

In this day and age, it seems so easy to get a netflicks account and get all the movies you want, without ever having to leave your house. This seems like a great idea– with the one major drawback: I wouldn’t be able to see all the cool people at my local Blockbuster! It’s not just about movies, I can walk my dog there, and they are always friendly and helpful. They know my name, and are eager to recommend movies, since I suck at choosing good flics. Also, it is a very important niche in lower queen anne, and I for one am glad they are there.

This blockbuster has a really limited selection. They have the cards for a lot of movies and TV shows yet they never actually seem to have them in stock. I asked and they claimed they were just out… for a month straight. I signed up for Netflix. The last time I rented a movie from ehre I got home to find there wasn’t even a disk in the case. Went back and got a lame, half-assed apology from the clerk. It’s a Blockbuster… what do you expect, right? I do still rent from their limited selection when I’ve already burned through my Netflix stash and need something right then – call it emergency movie renting. But just know, that if you do find yourself in a renting emergency you might be able to find something here… and you also might not.

Am I allowed to give 5 stars to a movie rental store? Hm. I think so. Considering the amount of Blockbusters I’ve been to in my lifetime. This one deserves it, because. 1) it has a parking lot(shared with Dick’s) 2) it’s very organized 3) the employees actually know what customer service is. They’ll greet you, help you, and even track down a movie for you if they don’t have it. I’m a Blockbuster Online subscriber and love exchanging my mailed-in DVD’s for a new release in store. Not only can I watch entire series(go Battlestar Galactica and Weeds!), I can walk into an actual store and peruse for something that suits my mood. Beat that Netflix. BFFL!!! (Blockbuster fan for life)

Go to this blockbuster, not the one up on the hill. The employees here are all awesome! The line setup is a little weird though…

Awesome store clerks!!! The managers(past and present) are really nice guys. They do try and have a variety of foreign, gay themed and alternative films. And you can’t beat the chain’s 4 for 20 bucks sales on DVDs.

It’s Blockbuster. They are all pretty much the same. Tedious. Two stars for the narcoleptic clerk.
