I would not normally rate this place poorly. I do really enjoy their food however the apptizers that I ordered had 3 grape leaves and normally I have gotten 6. I did not see it until I got home as it was a to go order. I want to just state that their service has really fallen. I have been in a few times and not had great service yet there are servers just standing around chatting and on their phones. The front desk girl was very rude when I came to pick up my to go order. I waited 10 minutes for her to actually even greet me. Food is good but for service like that I’m just not willing to spend my money in a restaurant like this. Having grown up eating middle eastern food I can go else where with better service. For their sake I suggest they get their staff to pay attention on their jobs. Plenty of people who would love their jobs.

Serving size is huge and the food is pretty good. Restaurant itself feels a little cramped but good spot in the city

Food portions are big, that is probably a good thing. The food was not good. I ordered spicy chicken. It was dry and tasteless. My daughter’s beef kebob was likewise very dry, almost charred. Falafel was OK. This was my second time eating there. I always give every place a second chance. There won’t be a third time.

Having walked by here countless times I was excited to finally try it. The service was attentive but not overbearing. I ordered shawarma and was thoroughly pleased by a mixture of flavors and textures that were perfectly suited for the dish. I’ve already recommended it to friends and will be returning myself.

I love their lentil soup. This rating is just for their portions. I always order the house lentil soup when I eat there: its huge, its bomb, if you haven’t had it you need to have it. However, when I ordered to go, the portion seemed so small. I’ve ordered it as a side before on a lunch order to go and the container was small-which is understandable, it’s just a side. But when I ordered it as a bowl/entrée/by itself, the container that it came it was no bigger than the side order-which is disappointing because if you order it in the restaurant, it’s significantly bigger.

First off, this place was packed! My coworkers and I went there for lunch to celebrate that it’s finally Friday(it was a rough week), and the host seated us fast which was surprising since we had a large group and the restaurant was quite full. Anyways they served us our fauncy drink of water(I say fancy because they do this little slick trick where they pour the water from a distance and make it look elegant) and take our orders. Again, fast service and I’m already liking this place. The waiters are very friendly and move fast. I order the falafel plate. Within few min the food shows up and my coworkers and I are pretty impressed. The food was good but I thought the falafel was pretty dry. Dry to the point where I had to keep drinking water. Falafel is served with seasoned rice and some sort of sauce. I recommend those who are vegetarians to choose the veggie combo plate because you get a little bit of everything. Including the falafel and hummus so it’s not as dry. Fast service, check Friendly staff, check Good food, check Only thing was the dryness. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be that dry. I’ve had falafels before. But as an alternative I recommend ordering the veggie combo plate for variety of food :) I’m likely to show up here again with good experience.

This one of my favorite Mediterranean place. I love the red lentil soup and in this rainy weather it’s perfect to start off your meal. We usually order a falafel appetizer(falafels on a bed of salad) which comes with a side of 2 pita breads and we order a side of hummus and make our own wraps. They are very filling. Petra fries are delicious sprinkled with feta cheese and Petra sauce. Don’t ever miss the dessert– Walnut baklava its to die for. It’s perfect — not super sweet — just amazing! Service is quick and the ambience is pleasant and welcoming. Tip: During lunch hours checkout the Petra wraps they come with a side of soup or salad or fries. All of this under $ 10!

You have to, have to, HAVE to order the red lentil soup. It’s spectacular. Oh, and the hummus too. The service was really slow, but since we were on vacation(with all the time in the world), we didn’t mind too much. I ordered the lemon garlic chicken and it was good, but not nearly as good as the soup or the hummus. Now I’m going to crave that soup… and not be anywhere near Seattle to get it!

Good Mediterranean food. glad it is halal. It is misleading because some things on the menu say«halal» next to them, while others do not. However upon asking the waiter, I found out that all the dishes are Halal. Can someone confirm this? Great food. Good service. A little on the pricy side but the portions are big.

I am a regular at Petra’s takeaway place on 7th ave and came here expecting similar food. Two stars mainly because — Food. They are a variety of dishes for vegetarians which I was very delighted to find but the food is bland. Come on guys, you can do better with flavor — Expensive — I guess you are really paying for ambience and location here — Server seemed to have a bit of attitude though. Some good things — Portions are huge. Order less food and most of the times you will be fine — Ambiance is nice. Food is garnished very nicely. Good place to bring your date if she likes bland food

Great place as it was very close to where I work, and opened as early at 11 am! Our group ended up ordering to go and the meals were prepared in a timely fashion! I especially liked the combo Kabob, although my coworkers got everything from kabobs to falafelz

Oh gosh, how can I even begin this review? The restaurant offers food that is absolutely delectable. I used to be neutral about Mediterranean food because the quality of it was always sub-par to me, until I dined here. No joke. The hummus is outstanding, their bread is fresh, the meat is soft, and the sauces are rich without being overly powerful. The service is also good, in that they’re quick and extraordinarily friendly. I intend to come here in the future as well as bringing my friends and family!

My friend and I came here because of all the good reviews. We started with the scallop appetizer, then each had the lentil soup and I had the veggie shawarma for my entrée. The food was tasty but we both thought it was really really salty. I liked the veggie shawarma flavor but at the same time, I could barely eat it because it was so salty… and because my taste buds were already shot from the soup. I ate the leftovers the next day with an egg thrown in and it was still really salty. If they could tone down the salt factor, I think I would like this place more!

After yoga my friend and I were craving Mediterranean food, so we decided to give Petra a try. This bistro did not disappoint! Appetizer: Hummus(Chick peas with garlic, salt and lemon juice.) The texture was creamy and the flavor was perfection! Entrée: Lamb Kabob. The lamb was sliced and served over rice with a veggie kabob on the side and there was a scrumptious garlic sauce drizzled over the lamb. The flavors of the lamb with the sauce and a little rice in a bite made my taste buds very happy!(The server recommended mixing a little of the hummus with the rice which was awesome too!) Service was excellent, food was fabulous, ambiance was great(it’s a quaint little corner bistro.) It’s wasn’t to loud so you didn’t have to shout to have a conversation over the fantastic food. Definitely recommend giving this place a try!

I was excited to try out this place after seeing such high ratings on Unilocal and it was highly recommended by friends but I was a little disappointed maybe because it was so hyped up. Food was great but very salty and spice filled. I got the gyro shawarma with lentil soup and pita and I really liked the gyro shawarma. The dish was a good portion of meat with rice and veggies. The meat was delicious, melt in your mouth and tender. The pita was above average and fluffy but you can’t go wrong with pita. The soup was too salty for my taste and I can really tolerate really salty dishes. Sidenote: I drank a lot of water after the meal. Service was disappointing. The food came out really fast but we were also really rushed the entire meal. There was one party waiting for seating but I didn’t understand why we were rushed. There were many other tables that have been there for a lot longer. Overall I liked the food but it was not the best I ever had and pretty over priced. Glad I tried the place but not sure if I’ll be coming back anytime soon.

Made a stop in at Petra’s during a recent visit to Seattle. Opted for the mezze lunch platter which featured delicious hummus AND Baba Ghanouje. The Dolmathes were probably the most disappointing on the tray — just no «wow» factor. The Falafel was well-balanced in its flavor(not too much green), and honestly, what sealed the deal was the pita. The pita bread was fluffy, warm, and so comforting. WOW! One of the best pita breads I have ever had. Unfortunately, I didn’t read the menu close enough to realize this dish also included Labnie, which I actually don’t eat. But, if you do eat it, you get a heaping portion as part of the mezze platter. I would recommend making a stop. I did take-out so I cannot comment on the service, but my experience ordering take out was pleasant. It came out quickly, hot, and by a friendly face!

Summary: Delicious and great service. Food: Absolutely nothing to complain about. The soup was delicious, the meal was extremely flavorful, even the pita was above average. Service: Our waiter was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Knew which dishes were vegetarian(of which they have plenty options) and helpful in advising which dishes to choose based on our flavor preferences. Value: Is it the cheapest option ever? no. But their prices are solid for the quality of food and service. No complaint. Location: Street parking only. A bit far for walking from most popular areas but with limited seating inside that helps keep the wait down. Comments: I’ve always wanted to go to Petra, and now I can say I have… sort of.

Atmos: Thin and long interior, about 23 tables or so. Lots of natural light if you’re here during daylight hours. The curtains and lamps give a middle eastern feel. House Soup: Good! A cumin lentil theme. Not too salty and spiced in a balanced way. The texture is creamy with pellets of dry lentil that spread across your tongue. Falafel Plate: Ok. They were a bit dry throughout and a bit on the salty side. The spice does a nice job of sneaking up on you a the end. Lamb Shawarma: Good! Strongly flavored! Well balanced flavor. The flavor is similar to Fajitas — lovely spices like cumin and chili powder can be detected.

Great food and good service. Petra has 4 halal options which is why we decided to give it a try! We ordered the veggie meza platter for our appetizer which was comprised of hummus, baba ganoush, grape leaves, falafel and rice. All were very delicious. My favorite was the baba ganoush. I felt the grape leaves were a bit over cooked and the falafel a bit dense. But overall great appetizer. For my entrée I ordered the beef shish kabob. It came with a salad which had raw white onions which I picked around. The entrée itself was great, only the beef was not on a kabob rather just pieces on the plate with a veggies kabob. The flavors were great and the portion was large. I had lots of leftovers. Service was great but we got a new waiter mid way they our meal without an explanation of why(the other waiter was still working the tables around us) Great food and ambience. We will be back soon :)
