Cute place but super bummed I wasted $ 4.50 on my drink. My friend and I ordered a hot milk tea with boba and when we received our drinks, they were both iced. We politely asked if we could get them warmed(like we ordered) and the woman at the front told us that they were warm in the beginning but she added ice to cool the plastic cup. Lame… Definitely not ordering from here again.

I was so unimpressed by this place! Not sure at all why it came so highly recommended by my other tea-loving friends. The décor is atrocious, space planning is awkward and confusing, service was insanely poor(I’m pretty sure the girl who took my order was high off her a$$), and menu is a joke of assembly, with random columns seemingly running on endlessly and unrelated categories mixed together. No easy way for a tea newbie to begun to digest the plethora of options. Knowing a fair bit about tea, I was able to navigate my way to a nice jasmine, but it was definitely no thanks to either of the incompetent servers. The only reason this review is two stars rather than one is they offer a wide selection of teas and have a lot of variety.

I’ve been going here with my friend off and on over the past few years, and I’ll state outright that the tea’s always been excellent. However, the food can be hit or miss, ranging from mediocre to pretty good; never excellent, alas. A guy who likes birdseye and scotch bonnet chiles doesn’t get too wowed by artichoke hearts and sun-dried tomatoes, not even with some good chèvre. Today’s chicken skewer was a tad dry, though the salad it came with was something I could have lured Br’er Rabbit into a pot with! And that balsamic dressing is probably the best I’ve had that I haven’t made myself. The turkey sandwich was pretty good, but it was no Kornblatt’s reuben — and I never did think much of panini. While I’m glad there were red potatoes in my potato salad, they were in large slices of whole potato, and the sauce it came in was a bit bland. World of Flavor, people! That’s what I’m all about, and this place could kick it up a notch; this isn’t a retirement facility, after all. PS: They have cups here you can comb your beard with!

Only tried for pastry and tea. Huge tea selection. Best berry tart i’ve had in Portland.

My wife treated me here for my Birthday. This is THE place to be, for the Tea devotee! With over 120(!) varieties to enjoy,(including, Choice, Superior, Premium, Rare& Gold), it was hard to choose but finally settled on a Rare strong,(but not bitter) amber Ceylon,“Lumbini FBOPF, Extra Special” – ah, heaven in a cup! This, coupled with a Turkey Bacon sandwich(on *GF bread), and a complimentary, h o u s e baked *GF Scone delivered to our table by our happy server, made for an excellent birthday tea! *GF = Gluten Free Put this on your Bucket List, Folks! Can’t wait to return and enjoy one of the many concerts they host here!

This is by far one of my favorite places to relax and drink tea! The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, especially when it comes to making a tea selection. I also enjoyed the live music that is hosted in the lounge. If i didnt live so far away i would come here regulary.

Came here to get some work done, and ordered a quiche. Not only was the quiche not heated through properly, but it was super soggy! When the manager asked me if everything was alright, I shared my sentiment, to which she replied, «I wish you told me sooner», and offered nothing further. I wasn’t expecting her to replace my order with another quiche, but thought it was rude that she didn’t even bother apologizing or offering to get me something else.

Such a cute place. Very limited seating but no shortage of knowledge about tea! Tea served with cute timer so you know exactly when it’s steeped enough. I suspect this is a great place to come to learn more about tea. They also have a full food menu — baked goods to sandwiches and more. Appear to let you do take out which I can see would be great especially for their pearl location.

Still the very best place for Earl Gray Tea latte and cranberry shortbread cookie pairing!

I love the new staff. They’re wonderful and make great drinks, and are at all times friendly and professional. I actually have something specific to say: To the girl behind the counter a few weeks ago who had the difficult group of suburban glamoms throwing a hissy fit because the newer girl got their teas wrong. I am so sorry that you had to be verbally abused and publicly humiliated by those over-baked bitter prunes. I hope that your boss was understanding and that neither of you got into any further trouble because I think you suffered enough. I also hope our $ 20 tip lifted your spirits a little bit. We wish we could have given you even more because there’s really no amount of money that can make up for the bag of offal that was that situation. I also hope the white SUV they all piled into got a rock chip in the windshield.

I am sorry to say that I have to give a poor review. I liked the atmosphere, the music, the people. The waitresses have an attitude. My friend and I went on Thursday evening, when the waitress came over we were not yet ready to order and asked for water. The entire night the waitress ignored us. Never came back to see if we were ready to order, never brought us the water that we requested. When we went to the bar to ask for water that she never brought, she responded that she was too busy. Too bad for Tea Zone, lost a sale and possibly clientele.

Bad bubble tea. I got the basic Thai tea and there was no flavor. My buddie got the grit one and he didn’t like his either. She tried to make mine better but it was the same.

I read about this place in the NW newspaper that I get at work. It was all about tea and coffee in the northwest area(except for Cacao which still qualified because it’s that good). I have given up caffeine for now so I’ve been scouting out new tea places with herbal options. So i went here after a spin class on a Saturday morning. It’s easy to find, right off the street car. They take cards(I never know at new places, and I don’t carry cash) and I ended up with a bubble milk tea. I got the Obama one(hahaha) which is some kind of South African tea and was caffeine free. I got traditional tapioca pearls as well as some coconut rectangles. Everytime I get bubble tea, I can’t decide if I like it or not. it’s not bad, but it’s not good either. This didn’t clear it up for me but the service was nice and it’s a good place to duck out of the spring rains. I agree with the recommendation! It’s about $ 4 for a specialty tea but I’m used to paying for coffees, I guess so it’s fine with me. My friend got something mango and coconutty from the milk tea menu, blended with tapioca pearls and that was prettttttty tasty. The end.

It was nice, soooo sooo many teas. I had the sumpeme earl gray. It was nice I didn’t like that I couldn’t tell if they had teas for sale to take with you. Also so many options it was so overwhelming that you wanted more than one but the staff was friendly, I think it was a half of a bar I didn’t mind it in there cuz it was nice stop Of the street and would go again if I was walking past

Sure, Portland is a coffee Mecca but we also have superb tea rooms, and the Tea Zone is an excellent example. High quality teas of all sorts(including a seasonal purple tea from Kenya), best bubble teas(boba) in town, and nice food to accompany it.(I almost always get the empanada.) Pots of tea arrive at the table w/a personal timer so you know how long to wait for a good brew. This is the go-to place for my bulk teas.

I love this Pearl District gem. They have a huge selection of quality teas. I go here to relax for a couple hours. They also have some tasty treats. I suggest bringing a friend for a fun relaxing time and chat. I’m a fan of their Dragon Chips… kettle chips with cheese and chicken. Oh and don’t miss the scones.

Went on third Thursday to see a wonderful Jazz group perform and were pleasantly surprised that this venue is very comfortable and cozy. A perfect setting for an intimate evening with friends enjoying quiet and mellow entertainment. The tea and cocktail menu is encyclopedic so I think the next time I visit I will go on the WEB site to study before I go. The wait staff are very helpful with making decisions and they know their menu very will but I just like to find little treats that we have never tried before so it’s worth a preview before visiting. We will definitely be back!

This place is a gem. Walking in the front door reveals an eclectic coffee and tea bakery with nice design and good service. They have a nice looking wall of loose tea tins. Behind the tea shop is the real treat. Walking into the little restaurant in the back is like entering a European hotel bar that has very well crafted food. They sport falafel, euro style paninis, hummus, all looked very tasty and I had bacon wrapped shrimp tacos, which were very good and well presented. This is my new little taste of Europe and Asia in The Pearl. I love it and I hear it is a nice little jazz bar on some early evenings.

My fiancé and I met his dad and step mom for breakfast here because they raved about how it was their favorite place to go. The minute my fiancé and I sat down his dad and step mom said something was off about their favorite spot. They suspected new ownership, which was later confirmed by our waitress, and it showed. Highlights(or lowlights should we say) were given no silverware till asked, reused coffee grounds for our coffee, three of the four people got their food at one time(two minutes later after we had decided to leave because it was taking so long), and the vegetarian Benedict described on the menu was completely different then what we ordered. No asparagus or tomatoes, lettuce and avocado instead. The waitress apologized and said they had new cooks. I would say see for yourself but you will be paying for a meal that you wish you had not sit down to. Sad to have never tried this place with previous management. **also I got the french toast which was two soggy pieces of bread with syrup. They laid flat on my plate. I have never in my life sent back food but today was a lot of firsts for me. I should have taken a picture.

The tapioca balls in the bubble tea were much better than my last visit to Portland(April ’13) — they were more fresh, actually soft & chewy. Although our server was new, she was very helpful, chipper, and willing to ask the kitchen about anything she wasn’t sure about. I love that when the blender overflowed as they were making our«Trubble Teas»(essentially alcoholic smoothies with bubble tea), she put the extra in a glass and brought it to our table anyway! MUST-HAVES: If you like sweet smoothies, alcohol, and boba — a Trubble Tea! They are all very similar and very sweet/tropical/fruity. Only the chocolate one is quite different from the rest. Menu: ~~TEAINFUSEDCOCKTAILS, ROCKS~~ * Lychee whiskey — 4 stars (house made rooibos vanilla bourbon is shaken w/muddled lychee fruit. $ 7) My bf loves his whiskies and really liked the lychee taste in this one! Menu: ~~TRUBBLETEA. $ 8~~ * Chocolate shake — 4 stars (chocolate tea, godiva chocolate liqueur, vodka, tuaca, & a touch of almond) Definitely chocolate-y, definitely strong, definitely boba! Maybe even a little too strong, I was pretty tipsy by the time I got through this… * Surfer chick — 4.5 stars (mango, honeybush tea, & malibu coconut rum) Coconut was the most overwhelming flavor. I liked the sweetness of this one, and it definitely felt like a tropical island drink. The boozy flavor was a little less strong than the Chocolate Shake, which I like in my drinks.
