I have no idea what happened between the previous reviews to the state of Terry’s place currently. I thought the location itself(nestled in the bosom of Jonathan-Adler’s Pearl) would alone carry the lackluster ambience, but alas, nothing could make up for the lack of customer service. Total fail. Next time try going for more vegetarian options.

The great thing about Terry’s Place is how real it is. If you, like me, found this place on Unilocal, you probably said to yourself, «Is this a real thing?». Well, I can tell you that once you’ve pulled up to one of as many as six chairs at Terry’s fine, wooden table, you’ll rest assured knowing that what you are experiencing is real. After a short chat with reception, you’re in for the real experience of your life! As you stroke the smooth, wooden top of the now infamous«Terry’s Place Table», you might again begin to question whether or not this is real. When you consider the relative distance between an atom’s nucleus and its electron field, you start to realize that matter is mostly empty. What is the universe but a collection of these vacant atoms finding their way into molecular structures which bind to form everything from chairs, to tables, to receptionists and even tip jars? Are these things truly«real», or are these just the characterizations we assign to invented representations of empty space? Is the world we experience anything which truly exists outside of our own minds, and if not, then who are we? Who is the self perceiving this«reality»? Be sure to leave Terry a good tip.

Okay, the positives first. The variety cannot be beat. What other place can seamlessly move from mexican one day to mediterranean the next? Easy on the dollar, and plenty of seating available despite being a small place to begin with. Always greeted with a smile and a comment about fantasy football. Now the negatives. For one service is non-existent. I mean literally there is no service staff here. As such, often the meals appear to be picked over. You really need to get here early if you want to get the good stuff. And you pretty much have to get your own drink. Cleanliness doesn’t seem like it’s a priority. I mean I’ve never seen a roach but dishes do tend to hang around for awhile. I think it’s on the honor system or something for you to buss your own table. Overall worth a try, it won’t cost you much.

It’s crazy how amazing your food tastes when you eat @ Terry’s. The ambiance makes up for the lack of service(there is none) but again it comes with a great view. You may be greeted by a few dogs but I promise, they won’t EVER eat your food! Everyone has to try this place, you WON’T be disappointed!!! If reception stops you out front, tell them you’re here to see ‘Terry’– they’ll know what you’re talking about!
