I just moved into the neighborhood and decided to try out this place as I love wine, and appreciate a good happy hour. I especially appreciate a good happy hour I can walk to(for obvious reasons). I was incredibly pleased with my experience at Pour. The owner/operator Robert was incredibly friendly and welcoming, inviting me in and not making me feel like a creeper for dining alone. The wine and food were both incredible, and Robert was knowledgeable and informative in a laid-back, unintrusive way. An added bonus is that the music was excellent… A Trible Called Quest played in the background while I sipped my Walla Walla red. I found myself lingering for much longer than I anticipated, enjoying the overall comfortable vibe, the company, the fantastic nibbles(I recommend the mushroom risotto) and of course, the expertly selected wine. I will definitely be back, probably tomorrow.

Oh jeez. If you are out and trying a bunch of places dont come here. A friend of mine was visiting Portland and we decided to go to a bunch of bars to check out what Portland has to offer. This was our 4th stop and it totally sucked all the life out of the evening. The best way I can describe the décor is to remember movies from the 70’s that took place in the future. The only good thing they had was a bottle of wine for $ 15(happy hour). Wine was so so. The place was too dull for me.

We went to Pour for a wine tasting put on by the owner through Meetup. The wines were unique and varied, and the owner is a real raconteur. The price for the tasting was insignificant considering the number of wines offered. We sat by the window, and had no issue with the bar’s interior(and the bathroom was clean), and when we left the bar hours later, we were very satisfied with our experience and sure to return.

Great location, but it seemed like the bar may have been taken over by a private party, despite the bartenders’ assurances that it was not. The seating arrangement was comfortable and had great contemporary furniture, if it was stationed a little close. They also have great decorations. They did only serve a limited number of wines per night which was a major drawback. Friendly bartender who was helpful with selection.

Love this place, Robert has amazing taste in wine, the prices are fantastic and there is a community feel to it. Thursdays are wine tasting night where you get to taste all of these amazing wines for a fantastic price and meet new people if you want sitting at the community table discussing wines. I learned so much one night about wines by region. I also come here for date night with my husband, great ambiance, the lamb gnocchi is fantastic.

A solid 3.5 to 4 stars, I don’t really get the low reviews. B and I were headed to Hele Pele and seeing it was packed, we decided to check out Pour. I’ve seen it plenty of times driving by and never had the opportunity to check it out. We walked by and it looked like it was closing so B and I decided to head back to HP when this guy comes out of Pour and invites us to come in and have a glass of wine on him. He introduced himself as Robert, the owner. What happened next was a mix of wonderful and strange, which wasn’t a bad thing by any means. There were only a handful of people there when we arrived. A couple in the corner that appeared to be on a first date and another couple with the cutest pup in a sweater that I’ve ever seen. Robert brought us two glasses of a beautiful red and we decided to order some grub. We ordered the risotto, the lamb sliders and the fondue. The risotto was good, perfectly cooked, needed a bit of salt but was solid. The lamb sliders were yummy, they had a depth of flavor that can only be achieved with time and love. The fondue was good as well, but the standout was the caramel apple pie that Robert’s sister made. Robert was our server and host and did a fine job making sure we were happy. All that was wonderful. Now, on to the strange, which again is not a bad thing. The cutie pie pup made the space feel much more homey and cozy than the décor made it out to be. The space is pretty but felt like its suffering a bit of an identity crisis and made it feel disjointed. I’m no interior decorator or even have an eye for décor so that is just my humble opinion. Otherwise, the service was great, wine was perfect and the food was tasty. We’ll definitely be back.

I attend a lot of wine events, it’s a great passion of mine. I even travel to wine regions in different countries and love listening to local wine experts describe the history of the local vineyards. So when I moved to Portland, I looked for wine-related Meetups to build a social network. Through one of those Meetups, I had a chance to visit Pour Wine Bar & Bistro a few months ago. The Meetup was a weekly event(usually Thursdays) where a crowd is invited to come listen and learn about a selection of wines from an advanced sommelier. The owner, Robert Volz, is an absolute pleasure to listen to. Entertaining and extremely knowledgable, he is studying for his master sommelier certification. I will agree with other reviewers that the interior isn’t inviting and cozy. However, I would recommend people to check out the place, try some reasonably priced wines, and learn a bit about them.

Going to this place is like entering someone’s kitchen when they are not wanting visitors. Or going on a blind date and realizing within two minutes that this is gonna be bad. My friends and I were looking for a place in the neighborhood for a drink and some light food around 7:30PM. I didn’t want to go to Pour because I always felt like the place was weird but we decided to give it a shot. Walking in was the most awkward experience I have ever had going into a place of food service. If it was a sitcom, you would have heard the record scratch as we entered. The music was off, the place was silent, and the main table was occupied by the owner and some friends who were all staring at us like we invaded their space. The owner explained that he was about to go check out a new bar down the street so we quickly and awkwardly scurried out with our tails between our legs. We went down the street to a new bar and guess who showed up there? The owner of Pour! Who closes up shop when customers arrive because you want to go to a bar?!? The whole thing was just bizarre. Every morning I walk by this place and the tables are filthy from the evening before. It really makes me question their food handling procedures. I grew up in the restaurant business and my family to this day would never close for the night without cleaning up shop. The side door also always has cardboard boxes piled up that haven’t been broken down. Red flags, people. I would stay away.

I first discovered Pour shortly after they opened. Over the years it has become one of my absolute favorite places to unwind after work with favorite friends. Robert is the consummate host and purveyor of good spirits both liquid and emotional. I feel more like family than customer.

I can’t understand the low reviews. I’ve been here five or six times over the past couple of years, and I’ve been impressed with both the wine and service every time. On my last few visits, I have ordered the owner’s choice bottle of red(around $ 15) and I have not been disappointed. In fact, I’ve enjoyed all the wines I’ve had here, as well as a couple of appetizers(very good cheese plate). Also, the happy hour here is insanely cheap: I almost felt guilty because the prices were so low! The only thing I don’t like about Pour is the décor and it is what stops me from coming back more frequently. Space age, futuristic white chairs just aren’t very inviting.

Can’t beat the happy hour special. While we didn’t have any eats during our first visit, we will certainly return to try something from the menu. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Excited to return.

What a great place to start our night! My husband and I went there before we hit the Winterhawks game to give a try on their happy hour, turned out we got a bottle of wine, cheese and meatballs for very reasonable price and getting great information about the wine and hockey. We unfortunately don’t live in portland to go to this place often, but we’ll definitely come back to this place whenever we are in town next time. Thank you very much for the fun times!

Personally I can’t believe there are so few stars for this place. Great service, the staff suggested food that pair perfectly with the wine I brought for a Friends birthday. I was most impressed with the available wine selection, wow! I will be back for more.

I have always been a fan of POUR. The staff is knowledgeable and the food is yummy. I really like the Beet Salad, Meatballs, and Fondue, but I have never had anything there I did not like. I don’t drink Wine anymore but when I did I was never disappointed. Yes, I am a FAN!

When we got here I was a bit confused. I wasn’t sure if the guy was remodeling or if the place is just falling apart. In the end I figured it out that it was just falling apart. The toilet was disgusting. It had mold around the rim which tells you right there that there is a lack of cleaning going on. The wines we tried were very good and the owner was very nice and knowledgeable about the wine. There is string art on the wall which looks like a kid had done it and it’s falling down. My suggestion is clean this place up and put some more energy into it before it scares some patrons away.

Decent happy hour. Their menu is excellent with $ 10 or under items. Great for sharing. We got two bottles of wine and a number of food items for just $ 50. They are seasoned sommeliers with good recommendations, which some fine restaurants even lack around here. If you’re bringing someone that does’t like wine so much, they’re known to have beer, but don’t be surprised if they have to choose between 2 bottles. It’s a wine bar.

I have driven by Pour many times and never stopped. I had an old friend in town and wanted a quiet place to chat and drink some wine and have some snacks so we decided to give it a try. We arrived at 7:30 and there was only two other small groups there… great vibe and cool music. At 8:30 the server said it was last call… seriously 8:30. I asked if I could have another glass and he seemed irritated. Two other couples came in and he said they had last call already and he was not serving. I am shocked that a small business would turn people away at 8:45pm…the hours on their website say until 11pm. Cool spot but not worth the trouble unless you are only into happy hour and want to leave by 9pm. When we left he had his bag and things at the door. Our bill was $ 80 and would have been happy to spend more if they were interested in serving us… needless to say I will not be back.

ALWAYS take the«bottle of red» — they haven’t picked a crappy one yet. Happy hour is nice, typical pricing for Portland. I dig their mac and cheese, but the bread with truffle butter is super yum. First time I went the staff was buried, second time they were much more attentive and happy to dole out wine advise and discuss their passions on wine.

I went with my wife because we had a groupon. As soon as we walked in we were met by a staff member. He was nice and gave us a tour of their remodel which by the time we got there the wine storage room had been finished and it looks great. The food was ok but the place was in such disarray that I kinda felt dirty eating there. The wine that was suggested to us to drink was amazing and the staff guy really made us feel cool about drinking wine. Go for the wine, not the food. And go when the place if all the way finished. Their website has nice looking«old» pics on it. Expect The old weird air smell that everyone is talking about as well.
