Nice selection of hangover curing deliciousness ranging from savory to sweet. All the stuff you would expect to have wrapped up in a flour tortilla is wrapped up in a Dutch style waffle instead! They even have chicken and waffles, Nutella, and chili cheese dog selections. The staff is always super friendly and is willing to do custom orders. They do take credit cards even though they prefer cash.

Nice little vegan breakfast. I’m not sure if it’s a standard menu item or not, but the wife ordered me soysage, peanut butter and maple syrup wrapped in waffle. Delicious. We may have eaten here more than once on our 5 night trip to Portland.

Very yummy and unique, but definitely pricey for the vegan and maple. A waffle and two morningstar sausage patties should not cost $ 6. When you have something that special I guess you can charge top dollar!

Meat and maple butter, a marriage our political leaders can agree on. Add some extra bacon and you’ll be coming back often!

Sweet and savory. Could make waffle a bit more crunchy then it would be perfect. Had the double Dutch with two franks and sweet mustard. Other peeps had the sausage waffle. A bit pricy for what it is but easy to eat and place had covered seating. Plus.

This is a hidden gem, and in my opinion WAY better than the Waffle Window, not to mention that flavour spot was first! the only problem I have with this place is that they are not open more! Their friend chicken and waffles is literally the greatest thing i have ever consumed in my entire life. The seasoning on the chicken is amazing, the waffles are so sweet and melt in your mouth, and the homemade jam is INSANE! I am so glad that a friend showed me this place, my life would not be the same without it! I wish i could go more!

Who doesn’t want to eat your waffle as a sandwich for breakfast?! They stuff them with everything from sausage to Nutella. I especially love the lemon curd one with marshmallow fluff. SOGOOD! It’s great they have veggie sausage, too! My mom enjoys their coffee, but I don’t drink coffee at all so I wouldn’t know. It’s always quick to get your waffle sandwich. They way they wrap is in foil it’s easily taken to go. They have a little picnic table to eat or wait at. It can get a little cold some days but a great option in the sun!

I’m a huge fan. The price isn’t great, but for the novelty it is, I’ll pay it and keep coming back. I love the Maple/Sausage waffle, the buttery filling is amazing! I’d definitely recommend. Only slight downfall is that the location in NE Portland didn’t have any type of seating when I was there, but it looks like some of the others due, so might be a mute point.

Came here during the summer with the family. This is da bomb. Waffles were very good and the diff menu items had me wish I had a few extra stomachs to try them all. Of course the kids all loved their food and the wait wasn’t bad at all

I heard they had amazing vegan waffles with vegan sausage… and while it was pretty good, for an average waffle wrapped around a gimme lean sausage, it really i just a 3 star food. Plus it’s the only vegan item I saw on the menu. Meh.

Got in before they closed today — which was 1400 Here for 5 years now, which i find unbelievable(how the time flies). I just used to savor my little espressos and fresh waffles at the orig one. This kiosk has no espresso avail. Yep. Tis true these guys are not very fluffy, but the fresh crunch and the flavor, oh my… I am a purist and always order the fresh sugar and butter waffle for $ 3 The wonder is folded and wrapped with wax paper, and then a foil, and it’s good Togo!

On our visit to Portland, we drove out of our way to find this hidden gem. Boy was it worth it. Hands down, this was the best chicken and waffles I’ve ever had. The waffle was crispy on the outside and super soft on the inside. The chicken was tender and juicy and had a spicy kick to it. There was just enough syrup to wrap it all up. All for less than $ 6. Yummy goodness… can’t wait to come back to Portland for this.

Once you hear that a place serves Dutch Taco’s, you’re pretty much obligated to go try them. The dutch are always up to something good, since the decline of tulips, they’ve focused all of their ingenuity on breakfast taco’s and it really has paid off for them. Pretty much when you think taco, you think waffle and sausage and whipped maple butter. RIght? Right. The waffles aren’t anything special, and really neither are the ingredients, but they come together into an overall agreeable food situation. It’s a shorter wait than the Waffle Window, and though there is a difference in quality, if you’re hungover the difference in wait time might trump all of that nonsense. Compared to other breakfast place, this place is a three star for sure, but compared to other waffle places its a 4. Until they bring Off the Waffle up here, this place is a pretty solid alternative.

I’m not surprised that this place has 4 stars. We came here for breakfast and I assumed that waffles would be a strange thing to eat in the cold and at a picnic table without a formal sit-down restaurant. Boy, was I wrong. These waffles are freaking TACOS. Tacos!!! I gotta go back here. I got the maple and sausage waffle and was stuffed. It was $ 4.50 which was so-so, but i’d recommend getting a couple of diff types of waffles if you’re hungry. I am seriously considering going back tomorrow… even after this morning. I love you, Flavour Spot!

I tried this food cart back in April at the food cart fest and just a sample wasn’t enough. I finally got to make a visit to the actual cart this weekend and I wasn’t disappointed. I had a peanut butter and strawberry jam«dutch taco» and it was delicious! They had a variety of savory and sweet waffle sandwiches and I definitely would like to go back to try more. The price is good too for the portion that you receive. The only downer is how far away that I live from this cart! It isn’t a neighborhood that I frequent, but I still wouldn’t mind the occasional visit. These waffles are worth it.

I got one of Flavour Spot’s most popular waffles: their 7″ waffle with pork sausage and maple spread($ 4.75). A 7″ waffle is cooked to a beautiful golden brown, then slathered with 100% pure organic maple spread. Two cooked pork sausage patties are added to the mix, then the waffle is folded in half. Voila, a sweet and salty waffle sandwich! Yes, it’s something that may not appeal to all people, but I enjoyed it. The saltiness of the pork sausage works well with the organic maple spread. It’s basically why fried chicken and waffles is such a hit with people: human beings generally crave salty and sweet items, so why not put them together for that comforting feeling? A perfectly cooked waffle here; firm enough on the outside but soft on the inside. It’s a very reasonable price at under $ 5. Check out Flavour Spot and see why they are definitely Portland’s Original Waffle Sandwich!

I cannot get enough of Flavour Spot. I was first introduced via Groupon last summer, and fell love with their vegan waffle + maple spread + strawberries. Even though strawberries aren’t in season, the vegan waffle + maple spread is a mere $ 3.75 and is super delicious. While I anxiously wait for berry season, I may just have to try something new– like the peanut butter waffle! Mmmm Warm waffles hit the spot on a cold day, and really: What is better than having warm waffles on a cold day? –How about having warm waffles on a cold day while Bob, the guitarist for Best Coast, is having waffles at the next table? Yeah, that actually happened! I need to linger around Mississippi more often.

We stayed at the White Eagle, which is in the general neighborhood of flavor spot. You have to hoof it up a hill, under the I-5 and in an industrial area, which we found out the hard way. No matter, when we got to the top of the hill(which seemed like the promise land) we turned our heads to the right and there it was, The Son of Flavor Spot. Not to be confused with its father, Flavor Spot. Nestled in a residential neighborhood and completely unassumed, this one had no lines on a cold early morning, but it did have Stumptown coffee(does everyone in this city have this coffee?), outdoor seating only on damp picnic benches and sweet, sweet Dutch tacos. What’s a Dutch taco you ask yourself? Well, I’m glad you asked my friend. It’s not a new position you can try with your FWB, it’s a fat person’s wet dream. A Belgian waffle stuffed with an array of proteins from two sausage patties with maple spread(what I ordered), to fool your mouth into thinking it’s sweet. But, oh no! It’s also savory. My fingers smelled like maple for the rest of the day and me lad was having a hard time from preventing me from also licking them throughout the day. That was, until he put a dog cone around my neck, that did the job. He on the other hand, got a Dutch taco filled with black forest ham, bacon and gouda. It was good, but not as good as mine was. They also had a seasonal special filled with pumpkin, damnit. We came here on two different occasions, did I stutter? I said it, two! I promise they were not consecutive days. And both times the staff were really nice, even at an ungodly hour. My waffle was only $ 4.75

Took my first Groupon there yesterday. I got the Fresh Strawberry(with Nutella, cream cheese and whipped cream… don’t worry about it!) and my boyfriend got the THB. I love waffles. I love the whole idea. But I think I prefer Waffle Window and here’s why. 1. Whipped cream is a hit-or-miss thing for me. Usually I avoid it because I hate it to taste canned. Whether or not Flavour Spot uses canned whipped cream, it tasted canned. It was too fluffy, too sweet, not dense enough or slightly yellow enough for me to believe it was actually whipped cream. 2. The prices. I agree that $ 6 is a reasonable price for a waffle. I just know other places that serve them for cheaper. 3. The plate vs foil. I’m too messy for foil. I prefer a plate, a fork and getting to eat all my toppings without looking like a homeless vagrant. Well, I probably still look like a homeless vagrant scraping furiously at my plate with my fork. I don’t want to *have* to lick my foil wrapper(but I do anyway). Groupon was awesome(I had the Android app so I didn’t even need to print anything, they just write down your barcode number), the staff was awesome. But the food was just okay. If I were already over there, hellz yeah I’d be eating that all the time. It’s right at the foot of Mississippi so there is a ton of stuff to browse over there. But to make a trip over there for it? Probably not gonna happen.

The only Bacon Maple Waffle who could ever reach me, Was the Son of a Flavour Spot… Well not this time… I had just finished a tasty and filling lunch at «Por Que No» and with Suzanne F.‘s recommendation running in my head, I walked over to the corner of Fremont and Mississippi and to check this place out for myself. This Flavour spot is has its own funky lot and«covered» seating area to itself and the layout invites your right in. However, my tummy was just not going to tolerate a Taqueria — Dutch Taco doubleheader. Instead, I ordered a small soft serve cone(twist) and was pleasantly surprised by its dense and creamy texture. And for a moment I thought I was back in Milwaukee, enjoying a frozen custard at Leon’s. A cute little kid, along with Mom and Dad had the same idea as we all hung out with our ice cream and enjoyed our small little food cart moment.
