Seriously my favorite place in town to get bomb burritos, but where did you go?! Can anyone help?

Finally made it out to the Northside, I have been wanting to try King Burrito for awhile and there we were. I don’t know what I expected but I have heard and read nothing but best about this place. I finally got to find out for myself what everyone was talking about, and I just don’t or didn’t get it. King Burrito is simply another tasteless, boring, typical burrito cart, only it is in a much harder place to find and in area I really don’t want to go. Save your gas money, eat at the closest burrito place to you, Im sure its no better or worse. Hey, the people were friendly and the prices were good, after that long ass drive, I just wish the food was.

These burritos are SO good. I used to be one of the line standers outside of Por Que No. Then I discovered King Burrito across the street. This place trumps Por Que No. King Burrito delivers delicious Mexican food at a low price. I get the small steak burrito(which is NOT small), and it is only $ 3.50. That is a substantial lunch for $ 3.50. Plus, the sweet lady running the place is a gem to be around. It’s like going to your grandma’s house for a meal, knowing you’re about to get hooked up. This is my new favorite food in the neighborhood.

I know I have an addiction. Recognizing the problem is the the first step. I just can’t stop, I moved to Portland from Arizona to try and get away from the temptation. But low and behold, there is good Burritos in Portland and it’s at this place!!! Come and burn your mouth with me!

Awesome, real tasting burritos? Check! No line? Check! Great prices? Check! Go here and check this place out and tell me I’m wrong on any of these points! I dare you! Seriously, this place is great, I have had many of the various meats in my burritos and they are all great, give it a shot and skip the lines at other near by Mexican food vendors.

Epic burritos served with a smile at a great price. What more can you ask for? King Burrito Bus is my new favorite place in the area for a quick meal. Been by a few times over the past month and am always ultimately satisfied afterwards. It’s easy to tell they use quality ingredients; the meats, cheeses, veggies, and especially the guacamole, taste fresh. And the burrito they make out of these ingredients can be described as nothing short of legendary… It’s huge too, completely fills the red basket they serve it in. Next time I’m drinking I expect to be plagued by fantasies of eating one of these burritos, hopefully I’m in the area and don’t have to settle for less.

Best, most authentic Mexican burritos in Portland. I’m completely addicted to this place and I have zero regrets about that.

Great place for solid Mexican food. Former food truck turned brick and mortar spot. Great breakfast burritos!

I moved a couple of blocks from King Burrito recently and I have been getting a burrito there once every week or two. To be honest, I was really excited to have a taco truck so close by. There is a lot to like about King Burrito: it’s housed in a funky old bus, friendly service(their English is not terrific but I’ve never had any problems ordering), quick service, and huge burritos and tortas. I almost always order a burrito and they are enormous. I’m a big guy and one burrito is almost more than I can eat. They have a wide variety of meats and the burritos range from $ 5.50 — $ 7.00: it’s really the perfect spot for lunch. Cheap, filling, and delicious! My only caveat about the place is that some people may not think the place is very hygienic. I will admit it doesn’t look very clean and that may be a turnoff for some types of less adventurous diners. Hell, I don’t worry about it: I eat street food in Mexico. ..

I heard about King Burrito from my sister, who was staying at my house while I was out of town. She and her husband said that the had the«best burritos they had ever had». Now coming from her; that is high praise… I finally got my butt there, and was NOT dissapointed. I had the Tacos Al Pastor — 3 light and amazingly tender tortillas generously topped with a smoky, crunchy glazed pile of little pork bits, and then a heaping layer of cilantro and onion with a light vinegary mild chili sauce. I topped it with some green chili sauce and went straight to heaven… It was so good, I got a Carnitas Burrito for my housemate to go, and am now plotting my return visit to try some carnitas enchiladas and a chorizo breakfast burrito. I had eaten at Por Qué No with family the day before, and a single taco(while very good) was $ 3.50 and had half the meat that King Burrito serves. It’s official, I am hooked! A post script: Food cart eating areas can often be dirty, cluttered and cramped. The King Truck on Mississippi had a nice covered patio on the side, spotless astro turf, and clean tables. How refreshing.

I grew up in the Sonoran desert south of Phoenix eating the local Pima taco with green or red fried on the tailgates of 40 year old ford trucks south or casa grande. This is one of the best, most flavorful green chilis I’ve ever tasted outside Arizona. The beans are perfect too. And if you get the burrito, you won’t be disappointed.

I love this little food truck bus!!! It’s located on Mississippi across the street from Por Que No. Their prices are low and their food is great! Jose, the owner, is always so sweet and he does speak English. I love their carnitas and machaca. Everything that I have tried from here is excellent but I almost always get a burrito. Their salsa verde is awesome too. I have been here countless times and I will continue to come here.

After putting my clothes in the wash, I decided to take a quick walk to Por Que No?! Thinking since it’s mid morning they wouldn’t have a line… wrong! And I’m kind of glad that they did! I noticed the food carts across the street and decided to go check it out. I only had 24 minutes and wanted something quick and delicious. And that’s when I saw Burrito King food cart. The menu was a little bit confusing as far as price goes, one sign says tacos are $ 1.50 and a sign a few rows down days they are $ 2.00, either way, great price! I was the only person in line, which was awesome! Ordered myself a carnitas taco and waited to see how much it would be. Once it was completed I found the price to be awesome, $ 1.50 for a carnitas taco so full of meat it could have been two tacos! Pretty sure this won me over! So many times places will under fill their tacos and make you feel cheated, not this place!

I may or may not order a veggie burrito at least once a week. It’s the best burrito you can find in 600 miles, and absurdly cheap!(Note it is made slightly differently on Sundays, I prefer Salvador’s version Mon-Sat.) The carnitas burrito, the enchiladas and the tortas are also very delicious, and I’m sure other things are as well but I wouldn’t know because I can’t stop ordering the veggie burrito. Soon I am moving out of the neighborhood and this bus will be a 20 minute drive from my house, but I know I will still drive there often because it is the best. In fact, it will be what I miss most about this neighborhood.

Oh man. Thank the burrito gods for King Burrito this past Sunday. The King Burrito bus is much less reliable than the burrito gods, but the King delivered when I needed an early morning, hungover Sunday burrito. This past Sunday, my friend visiting from LA and I went on the 10am hungover burrito hunt. Nothing would be able to soothe our hunger or our massive headaches like a juicy burrito. Keep in mind, this burrito cart(bus) is located on Mississippi Ave, so we had to trek through some major obstacles of temptation and baby strollers. We passed several champion brunch spots including Gravy, Miss Delta, and The Big Egg– but we were transfixed on burritos. Or maybe we knew our stomachs would only respond positively to absorbent rice and beans. I knew the chances of King Burrito being open were slim. Our back-up was Por Que Non, but we all know a Bryan’s Bowl isn’t exactly a burrito. Every other time I’ve passed by King Burrito while actually hungry for a burrito, the cart was closed(contrary to the business’ posted hours of 9 – 7 daily). We finally got there and the cart was open– we were so relieved. There was actually a pretty deep line that was moving pretty slowly, but we waited patiently. I ordered the carne asada burrito($ 6) and my friend ordered the chorizo breakfast burrito($ 4.50). The carne asada burrito was everything I wanted. There was a good amount of avocado, rice beans, pico, and steak. Perfection. Though my friend wasn’t particularly digging the verde salsa, I really liked the roja(red salsa). I would highly recommend the burritos here if you’re ever in the area. I love burritos, and King Burrito’s really hit the spot.

This is not the original King Burrito and defenately does not compare to the original King Burrito located on Lombard.

***It took me awhile to find it today-While construction is happening– the bus is temporarily located across the street and in the back of the food cart pod from Por-Que-No down Mississippi. 1st appearances… Wow. Dodgy looking food cart. Feels like I’m in Mexico. No English here. Update a little later: Just as tasty and bombastic as the original on Lombard! I can’t imagine my burrito being better tasting or bigger. Don’t judge this book by it’s cover. I will definitely return here.

In an empty corner lot, under a shady veranda behind a chain linked fence under a bright pink, blue and orange Piñata is an old bus with the words«King Burrito» handwritten over the back window. Inside the bus there is a old man and he is busy shuffling metal trays of freshly chopped potatoes and cilantro. The strong smell of Carne Asada slapped me in the face and suddenly I knew… Bam! I HAD to have a burrito. THAT burrito. Like… rightnow. The man popped open the window(which is the back window of the school bus) and asked me what I would like. I asked if he could make 2 burritos. carne asada & carnitas. He laughed and simply said, «I can make anything!» he smiled. And I completely believe him. He made that burrito so fast, I’m pretty sure he could’ve done it in his sleep. He brought the food out to me in a bag with 3 or 4 little extra green sauces that he had just MADEFRESH. um. WTF!!! Fresh green salsa? Hand made tortilla? Sweetest man to ever make a burrito in a bus? PINATAS!!! Dude. Pinatas are awesome. Came home and surprised Gabe with my discovery and we did the happy burrito dance before feasting. First off. They are HUGE and incredible. I make no claims towards having a refined palate and i opt out of the authentic debate wars, because, hey… I like guacamole flavored tortilla chips sometimes. Yes. It’s true. BUT… I do know this… the Carnitas made me want to cry because I was sure that I must have died and gone to Burrito Heaven. Ya know… Burrito Heaven. Where burritos are served by nice old guys who under charge and give extra salsas and smile and make something so tasty that you can’t even put it into words, let alone put it down to take a drink. If a roller skating Muppet brought it out to me and then Steve Martin and Tina Fey came and sat down to join me while it rained glitter & cupcakes, THEN I’d know for for sure. But just as I poured the final drop of green sauce on to my tongue.(mmm so good), I heard Gabe say «DAMN. That was fucking good.» Happy to be alive, full of great food, and to have discovered this magical bus… I smiled and took my last spicy bite. «Damn is right». I will be back. Try and stop me. :)
