I live super close to this place but never went in because I have had the same barber for years. Well my barber relocated to SF and I was in need of a cut. I thought I would try this place out and I am happy I did. Rose cut my hair and knew how to taper my back line perfectly. She was really nice and also not too chatty. which is how I prefer it. I gave her a great tip and I will definitely be coming back.

Been going here for about 5 years. Nancy cuts my hair, and she’s great. Not chatty, but she does a fab job of layering my very unruly naturally wavy hair. Prices here are extremely cheap for what you get. Finally they went up to $ 15 for a haircut, after years of being $ 14. Totally worth it. Better than Supercuts, imo.

One lady is extremely rude. She didn’t cut a small area of my sides, which made it look like something’s swollen there. I asked her to cut this part tightly again, but she refused to do so, saying it’s not a problem of hair, but my skin in that area is swollen. Came back home, check it closer, and I could definitely tell that it’s a a problem of hair, not my skin. Went back to the shop and asked her to cut again. She looked mad and started cutting again with a same length. After cutting a little bit there, I could clearly see that swollen area became completely even, but she looked more mad, saying ‘nothing’s cut!!’. NOTHING’S CUT? Well. I saw swollen area is being even and heard the sound of hair being cut out. But nothing’s cut??? I will never go back to this place again.

I’ve been to Pleasant Cuts three times now. The first two times I got my daughter’s hair cut, and it was great, but this last time I also got my hair cut and just HAD to write a rave review finally. Both mine and my daughter’s hair cuts have been FANTASTIC. Rose and Nancy do exactly what you want, and they are VERY reasonably priced. I actually thought they had rung up just one cut, and the $ was instead for both of us. Can’t believe we get such great cuts for so little $. It’s incredible. Highly recommend them!

My teenagers and I have been customers at Pleasant Cuts since the kids were in elementary school. If we call ahead, we can always get one of our preferred time slots for our monthly visits. Our simple cuts are always quick and precise, and leave us looking good for the next month. The stylists are always friendly and we’ve never had a bad experience there. Bathrooms are clean and someone is always sweeping up the recently shorn locks. Parking is normally a breeze, but has become a bit more difficult since Mr. Lucky’s opened at the end of this strip mall. This is a prime example of the local, independently operated businesses we like to support. Shops such as this one really add to the fabric of each of our communities. I hope you remember this as you decide to spend judiciously, your hard earned dollars(with guidance of your fellow Unilocalers)!

I know it’s time for a haircut when I start curling up in the back and the side burns get a bit uneven from all those shower shaves. That realization usually sinks in about 3 months after the last one. Today, I realized it was time and decided that I wanted to find an old time Barber Shop somewhere close to my new Pleasant Hill environs. After some Unilocal research, I decided to try Cruz’s Barber Shop, and unfortunately found them closed for good. Dimaggio’s in Walnut Creek(2nd Choice) seemed too far, so I decided to drive up Pleasant Hill Road until I found the first place that looked like it met my high stylistic Man standards. And soon enough, Pleasant Cuts appeared on my right and it would have to «do». All in all it was a nice cut and well worth the $ 14 price. It’s not your neighbourhood clip joynt like Phil’s in El Cerrito, where you not only get a cut, but a detailed explanation on how the razor works and a play-by-play on who’s sleeping with who. It was a no-nonsense cut and with little time or inclination for small talk. I probably won’t be back for awhile, but only because I miss the Phil’s or similar Barber Shop experience. But in a pinch, it’s a dependable choice.
