For a nice lunch while shopping at Fashion Island, I like to stop in at Mariposa. The service is always good with much attention to detail. The popovers are light yet buttery. They have a good selection of salads and sandwiches.

My new favorite spot for lunch. I could honestly find better entrees for the price. But the experience is memorable and impeccable.

This place is my go-to lunch stop when shopping at fashion island! The truffle parmesan tater tots are to die for and the chicken milanese is always perfectly prepared. Their kobe beef sliders are my favorite though; it has a special sauce and is just the right portion! The manager Reza is the sweetest and always makes sure you have an unforgettable experience when dining at Mariposa.

The last bastion of a civilized society«‘ladies’ who lunch» experience for ages 18 – 100. An antidote to the«sports bar» loudness and rudeness currently on offer at even OC’s swanky establishments. Intoxication is no excuse for poor manners. The popovers(a NM tradition) with strawberry butter make me break my diet every time! Lots of salads(naturally) make up for that – so you can fit into your couture dress. On second thought, to be a genuine society x-ray, just sip the chicken broth. I adore the rotunda restaurant in San Francisco NM(formerly the grand City of Paris dept store of childhood memories). This is the moderne OC version of that. Please bring good etiquette with you – this is Southern Cal casual, but not a barn. If you wish to shout and shove, please stay away from our respite from the crude. I’ll have another cup of tea, please.

Mariposa is located on the 2nd floor inside Neiman Marcus at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. I have been to this location many times and each and every visit has always been a pleasant and satisfying one. Patio seating is also available and great for kids as the indoor seating can be mellow. There is also bar seating towards the entrance. Once seated you immediately get there infamous puffs with strawberry butter and a small chicken stock with a cute bite size biscuit. Prices are can be on the pricey side compared to others but you are in Neiman Marcus… it is expected haha. But you are definitely getting your moneys worth with the quality of ingredients and impeccable service. The menu changes a bit but my favorites have been the lobster sandwich, steak and Ahi salads, and there sliders and tator tots. We been there enough that my kids already know what they want. You basically cant go wrong with anything on the menu just depends on your palate on the day of visit. Also a great place for girls lunch/brunch, special occasions such a baby and bridal showers as well.

**4 and a half stars** I’ve been eating lunch here with my family for many years. In fact, I even had my baby shower on their patio back in 2012. Make a reservation Friday-Sunday, as it gets pact. They change their menu seasonally so there is always something delicious and healthy to try. They do keep some signature dishes on the menu, however, such as my fave the seafood salad. Lump crab, lobster, avocado and grilled shrimp stacked together to create a mouth watering salad. Ask for a side of sriratcha to add a little kick. Don’t pass up their phenomenal popovers with strawberry butter-they are so addictive so make sure not to eat too many! Enjoy!

Always excellent service and food. The sea bass is the best! While this place is pricey, remember you’re inside Neiman Marcus Fashion Island, and everything is steep. Worth it once in a while.

My favorites here are the complimentary chicken broth and the Popover~ hehe the broth was so flavorful and addictive, and I just found out today that it’s free refill and they bring you a small pot of broth. Yummy yummy yummy~~ And I got the steak frites too, it was really nice and tender. I also had a bite of the lobster club, it was really good as well. At the end, we also got complimentary chocolate mint in a nice little package. Nothing too special about it but nice presentation.

Nicest lunch to have at Fashion island. My friend and I got the lobster club sandwich, it was so good. Sandwiches here tie with the ones at Bottega Louie. We got the dino’s selection for dessert and it was red velvet cake. The cake was alright, we couldn’t get over our meal though! Strawberry butter with the croissant like bread… divine. We also got pomegranate lemonade, tastes like the orange lemonade at Lemonade, still delicious. Mini chicken broth was yummy. Truffle tater tots were good, truffle overwhelmed it for us so we night not get that next time. It was still pretty delicious. And you get fruit on the side with your sandwich, pretty yummy! I will come back and bring others, it’s so perfect to sit outside on a beautiful sunny day!

If you’re looking for a nice lunch away from the hustle and bustle from Fashion Island go to Mariposa. It’s was a lot better than I was expecting. Once you get inside the restaurant you no longer feel like you’re in a mall. Service was great and our waitress was very attentive without being pushy. The complimentary pop overs, strawberry butter, consommé are definitely a nice touch.

Oh My, a cute little restaurant tucked away in the corner of the third floor at Neimen Marcus, we suspected the older host lady was in the photo on the menu, but we couldn’t be sure. They have a very nice brunch and lunch menu, but we just had brunch, so we went for drinks and light fare. Tried the white sangaria and mimosa, they were very tasty and refreshing! The complimentary chicken broth was definitely a hit for hubby, he loved it! Our waitress was nice enough to bring us a small pot of that broth, too bad I couldn’t taste it, it smelled really good seriously! The table bread with something like yogurt mixed butter spread was very fresh and delicious too! And we tried the tuna sashimi, it was the freshest tuna I have ever had, each piece melted in my mouth right away! I was very surprised and impressed, just wow! I had a Goose vodka coffee martini to finish our snack meal, it was sweet and strong, so tasty. I had no idea a restaurant in a department store could be this good, The service was outstanding too. The partio dining area looked so nice on a sunny and warm day, I wouldn’t mind coming back for a lovely brunch on a shopping day!

Mariposa is tucked away in the corner on the top floor of Neiman Marcus and can easily be missed. Chicken consommé– A nice warm hug before the main course. Popover with strawberry butter– Yes, this was as good as the other reviews stated. This warm, buttery goodness will leave you wanting another one! Lobster Club– Filled with tons of succulent pieces of lobster and crispy bacon. Strawberry Shortcake– My favorite part of any meal is always dessert, and this dish left me disappointed. The strawberries were overripe and mushy which made it hard to finish. The food is a little overpriced in my opinion, but considering Mariposa is located inside Neiman Marcus and in Newport Beach, it’s to be expected. The service was excellent and who doesn’t love a piece of chocolate at the end of a meal!

Found this restaurant while shopping at Neiman Marcus. This little restaurant hidden inside is beautiful with floor to ceiling windows and modern design. Also the complimentary popovers and strawberry butter is very tasty(check out my picture). The reason I gave three star was because the server took 20 min to just come to our table and take our order.

Tempted to review based on popovers alone. They should start a popover bakery with different flavored butter. But I digress. The popover is huge and served complimentary with a mini ramekin of strawberry butter. Heavenly. I devoured it in sight of all the fancy ladies who lunch who were likely raised gluten and carb free. Sorry ladies who lunch but it’s delicious. Then there’s this tiny cup of salty consommé served gratis which is nice if not odd. I’m sure the fancy ladies liked it. I opted for a shrimp salad– with avocado and tomatoes. A tad overdressed but the view is lovely, the people watching divine, service impeccable. And did I mention the popovers?

I get these Perk Cards from Neiman Marcus good towards gift wrapping, dining, or Valet. I always use it to dine at Mariposa, their in-house restaurant located in the third floor(corner area). The place has a cool and relaxing ambiance. It’s spacious and decorated nicely. The best part is, the staff go out of their way to please you. They also have a bar seating on the front where you can take a rest from shopping and grab a quick-eat. I must’ve done a lot of shopping this year that Neiman Marcus sent me a pretty nice Perk Card, so I took one of my friend with me here for lunch. We both ordered the Seared Bay of Fundy Salmon. It came with sweet potato, balsamic spinach(thank god they changed it to spinach, they used to serve it with brussel sprouts), shiitake mushrooms, raddichio, and some lemon juice. It is delicious! The best part is, it also comes with brioche bun with strawberry flavored butter fresh off the oven… oh so yummy! Overall, my dining experience at this place have been very satisfying. Would I actually pay for lunch at this place? Message me. :-)

Came here for a family lunch on Sunday for Labor Day Weekend, and had a great experience overall. We made a reservation for 12:30 pm and because my parents were having some trouble finding parking, my brother and I arrived first and my parents came about 5 – 10 minutes after. The hostess was very friendly and didn’t see to mind that our entire party wasn’t there at all. I love it when restaurants give out little complimentary goodies during the meal, and Mariposa went above and beyond by serving: 1) a little mug of chicken broth and a tiny biscuit and 2) a big Popover with strawberry butter for each person at the table. The chicken broth was rich and delicious. I wasn’t a huge fan of the popover(just because I’m not a big fan of those types of pastries to begin with), but the strawberry butter was unique and tasty. In terms of food, my family ordered: — Grilled Shrimp and Hearts of Romaine: Salad was light and fresh. Came with 4 pieces of shrimp which were all well seasoned and very large and juicy. Not sure if it’s worth the $ 20 price tag — portion wasn’t that large and the salad wasn’t amazing/unique enough to dish out that kind of money. –Kobe Beef Sliders: The beef patties were a bit dry, and the burgers were a bit plainer than I expected. –All natural burger: didn’t try this, but brother seemed to be enjoying his meal. –Seared sea scallops: I absolutely adore scallops, and these were cooked well. The mashed potatoes and swiss chard were also very flavorful and good. Probably my favorite dish at the table. Mom also ordered coffee after the meal and she was really enjoying it. Bright, clean, modern feel to the restaurant. Service was polite and prompt. Food: 3.5 stars, bumped up to 4 for good environment and service.

FIVE Stars for Mariposa! I enjoyed the seafood salad! It had very crisp and fresh greens, served with a generous portion of seafood(crab and lobster). The salad was just right to whet your appetite! Customer service was outstanding! They seem to know everyone by name and treat everyone with respect. On your way out, be sure to order several of the fresh cocolate chip cookies! Those are to die for!

Since I’m counting calories I’m finding myself eating at chain restaurants more and more since they’re required to provide nutritional data about their menu items. It makes life easier when I go out to eat since without this info it’s total guess work. I was excited to read Kelley U’s review about this restaurant since it seemed fancy and it had nutritional info printed right on the menu. Mariposa is on the 3rd floor of Neiman Marcus and is on the right hand corner when you get off the escalator. Make sure you use the restroom before since there isn’t one anywhere to be found. There’s a parking garage right next to Neiman Marcus so it’s pretty easy to get here if you just feel like eating at the restaurant and avoiding the mall. Open for lunch only. Instead of bread and butter this places kicks up their complimentary starters a notch. You get a tiny mug of chicken consommé which is delicious. It had so much flavor I could eat a bowl of it. Luckily all you have to do is ask and they’ll gladly bring you more. They also bring out a fresh baked popover with strawberry butter. It was cooked to perfection and unfortunately added many calories to my lunch, over 200. For my entrée I had the Miso Glazed scallops. I thought these were really good scallops until Bob T. served me the best tasting scallops I’ve ever had in my life over the weekend. Before that I would have raved about these… now I can say they were pretty good. Three large scallops cooked to perfection sitting on top of a flavor infused pile of fennel which is soaked in some sort of tasty miso sauce with bits of applewood smoked bacon and almonds in it. Also on the plate was baby bok choy, baby carrots. With only 500 calories this was a healthy and filling lunch. Donna had the Kabocha Squash Ravioli which came with roasted root vegetables and brown balsamic sauce at 480 calories. She said the ravioli were delicious but the roasted root vegetables were a bit undercooked. To me the dish looked nasty but I’m not a squash person. She enjoyed it and would order it again. She also had an amazing drink. It’s their orange spiced iced tea. It looked very fancy and tasted very festive with lots of holiday spices. Amazingly enough there’s free refills on the drink. As others mentioned the prices here are high but I thought it was pretty standard for the surrounding area and up to par with other restaurants nearby. Service was excellent. I’d definitely return. It could be a pretty healthy meal if it wasn’t for that tasty popover they serve you at the beginning but even with that it isn’t too bad on calories.
