! I’ve always passed by this place and I randomly decided to give it a shot. The meat was surprisingly really good and the service was fast and the staff was polite. I would recommend giving this place a try if you want some meat and you’re in the area.

Bring cash bring cash bring cash! It’s hard to choose what to get at Gushi because of all the options they have but lately my favorite has been the combo plate with beef teriyaki and bulgogi with double salad. Its such a good portion size for $ 12 and comes with a drink, $ 1 for refills. The meat is so soft and tender and packed with flavor. Its not too salty, just the right amount. Of course it tastes so much better with a little bit of sriracha and teriyaki sauce. This is has been in Westwood for many years and its easy to see why.

The spicy pork had bones and was like a bath of grease. So much grease that it spilled out of the tub into the plastic bag. The kimchi was very fermented.

Gushi is a Korean fast food place meaning it’s not the place to go for authentic Korean food, so keep your expectations low and think along the lines of Flame Broiler and Yoshinoya. It’s not the cheapest with most entrees ranging from $ 8-$ 12, but the food is good and you get a large portion(even if a hefty amount of that is white rice). We came here and ordered the Chicken Bowl($ 8) and Beef Teriyaki Steak Plate($ 12) to go. They both came in the same size takeout boxes but the plate included a small side salad, kimchi, and a drink. I wish it came with more kimchi though. As a Korean food lover, the amount was tiny compared to what you get for free at most Korean restaurants. Plus kimchi is relatively cheap so it’d be nice if it was a more generous portion. The chicken looked plain but was surprisingly tender like Hawaiian pulled chicken. The beef though, the beef was where the flavor was at and tasted similar to Korean barbecue beef, mmm. The place looks like a stand but there is an outdoor patio area, otherwise it’s good for takeout. I do think it’s a little pricy(kind of expected for this area) and it’s also cash only. Parking is metered street parking only as far as I can tell. To me, it’s 3.5 stars because it’s pretty good but could still be better. Think of it as a convenient food stand if you’re in the area – it’ll satisfy but you probably wouldn’t crave for it unless you just want something easy and affordable.

Food 4.5 HUGE portion and good taste and it’s under $ 10. Perfect for students :) or anyone who tries to save some money! Service 3 I mean, so so. Environment 3 They made so much money maybe they could make it indoor now… too cold in the winter, so I took out.

I would call this a higher end fast food type of place. Super yummy but unhealthy food. It really sucks that everything good in life is bad for you. If it was up to me I’d eat here a few times a week. I love the bulgogi the most. Very tender and tasty meat on top of white rice. Their portion sizes are also really big so it is worth what you pay for it. I would say they have good quality meat. There are a few things I don’t like about this place. First off, it’s cash only. I am never fond of these types of restaurants. Secondly, the environment of the place, which is the main reason I consider this more of a fast food. For those reasons, I can not give 5 stars. But the food is great and its a good quick meal to grab and go.

Taste– ***** Service– ***** Parking– *** Ambiance– *** This place is LEGIT! Had lunch here with some friends and was really amazed by the quality of the food. HUGE portions, and something delicious they are turning out in that little kitchen back there. Ordered the very popular beef combo(#1) and a bibimbap, and everything I had was super fresh and on point. Such an unsuspecting tiny place, with quality, affordable food. If you don’t mind the outdoor seating, this is a great place to hit up.

Gushi is that place that I always want to go to but my healthy side always stops me. A mound of rice with a pile of meat on top? So hard to resist! Especially when KBBQ is one of my favorite foods and with Gushi I don’t have to cook it myself! However, sometimes my healthy conscience is not strong enough to hold me back from this amazing meal and when I have it, oh is it amazing. You can’t go wrong with the Bulgogi or the Kalbi. Both are very good and Gushi is generous with portions. Although this place is pricy and cash only, so they do make you pay for what you are getting, it is worth it. The meats are of good quality, similar to what you would get at an AYCEKBBQ establishment in K-Town. It is definitely large enough to split or save for dinner or lunch the next day. The meats have perfect amount of sauce which is a semi sweet soy and the rice is he perfect balance to not get overwhelmed by all the meat and sauce. I hear their Kimchi Fried Rice is very good, I am yet to try it. I do knock down Gushi one star because I do think cash only is kind of low of them and they charge for refills and they also really need to update their dining atmosphere to be more comfortable and welcoming. It’s just not pleasant to eat there. This is definitely more of a to go place.

I always get the kimchi fried rice. $ 10(CASHONLY) for a huge portion. The styrofoam box was completely filled. Rice filled with bits of beef and kimchi was very satisfying. I’ve never had kimchi fried rice anywhere else so I don’t have the best comparison but I really like it here. It’s a pretty small location, can seat maybe 20+ people. All outdoor seating.

Gushi is one of those few restaurant on the edge of Westwood that is deceivingly good despite its small and not-so-attractive dining area. Although it is cash only and maybe a little expensive for students, they give you loads of food that can make you last through out the day(I myself had a Korean BBQ box and the amount of meat they gave me was a little overwhelming). The food is fresh, hot, and is very sweet except the kimchi. It has a semi outdoor dining area that is nice but can get cold on windy day. Overall this place is pretty good for rewarding yourself every now and then. Just don’t make it a habit for you’ll burn all your cash before you know it.

Nothing but love for this place. I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve been here. Sure it’s mostly just rice, cooked meat, and vegetables that I could stir up at home, and sure it’s a bit on the pricey side for such a simple meal. But you can’t take away all the memories of this place. The loads of rice and meat they pack in the already large to go boxes that can fill you up for multiple meals. The old Korean lady yelling cash only when you forget and hand her your credit card. I mean it Russell Westbrook goes to eat here when he’s in LA, that’s saying something.

Food always served piping hot and packed with tons of flavor; Gushi is definitely my favorite restaurant in Westwood. Yes, it’s still cash only(please fix!) but at least there’s an ATM nearby if you’re desperate and menu prices are exactly what you pay for(food tax is already included!) Decided to change it up for once and skipped the teriyaki beef plate for the Kimchi Fried Rice. ITWASAMAZING. They definitely make this on order because it took longer than usual to get my food and I burned my tongue eating it. Kimchi Fried Rice came with a fried egg on top and filled with plenty of fermented cabbage inside. Yummy. Best part of the meal was that the portion was so big, I had leftovers for breakfast. And yes. It was still amazing when reheated by microwave. Tip: if you are willing to splurge, paying an extra $ 5 for bulgogi(gushi) or teriyaki beef will take your KFR to a whole notha level. Highly recommend you do it, but the food is still awesome just on its own.
