Chinatown, Los Angeles, CA: Clean! Surprisingly clean store! Family member wanted to pick up a package of noodles. This was a nearby option. The exterior of the building is extremely modest but what a surprise inside! Linoleum flooring has seen better days but its surface and the display areas are clean. The merchandise displayed is fresh and current. Plenty of produce to choose from, Chinese condiments, canned goods, decent butcher case, some snacks, and proprietors hailing from China’s southerly Guangdong Provence. We paid by cash and I forgot to check if they accepted credit/debit cards. Street parking. 3.5 rounded up.

Dirt cheap produce(especially Chinese)! I’m not sure if any of the staff speaks a lick of English though!

Reminds me of those NYC Chinatown small grocery stores. You can get everything you need to whip up a cheap, fresh vegetable laden meal here. There’s also fresh seafood if you need to add some protein to your dinner. Look for the faded sign, and maybe you’ll see the remnants of the G&G logo. Bring a bag, it’s LA! Street parking, obviously.

I have such a soft spot for this little Asian market. Their produce is inexpensive and fresh, much more so than most of the other street-side markets in the neighborhood. They have a decent meat section, which I don’t really go for since I don’t know where it comes from, and a very nice selection of pantry goods, spices, and pretty much anything else you would need for simple Chinese or Asian cuisine.
