Whaaaaaat this place is closed… and before I could write my review! I’ve had some spectacular dogs in my life, not all of them veggie but Fab Hot Dogs had a decent selection of veggie dogs. I had the Mexicali Dog and it was the spiciest dog I’ve ever placed in my mouth… RIP spicy dogs. It’s not a lot of dog shops in westwood and i though it was THEE Best dog, at least they tried. Plus the owner was a sweetheart. :(

Deep Fried Bacon Wrapped Hot Dog’s are the best dog on the menu! I just had to make that statement. Fabs is the GOLDSTANDARD of all beef hot dogs in LA. It’s no tourism hot spot to be scene at, it’s a place where hotdog enthusiasts come to enjoy the perfect dog, ANDITSHOWS! Now as FRANK stated I get the deep fried dog wrapped in bacon! Its deep fried to perfection and crispy, just what the doctor ordered. Oh and add a splash of mustard and side a tatar tots & life is wonderful. The menu itself is amazing for all the other dogs available. I’m sure based on size of menu I’m sure you will find a tasty treat for your needs. Go fried & Fabs or go home!

I’m not a huge fan of hot dogs in general, but decided to try this place with a couple friends just out of curiosity. There were so many choices that it was a bit overwhelming. I think it would be easier to just build your own, instead of reading all specialities they have. After looking through all the options and asking the staff for suggestions, I finally settled on the Bacon Cheddar Melt and Tator Tots. The hot dog and tator tots were okay. I definitely don’t think this place compares to Pink’s, but if you’re looking for something similar and with a shorter line this would be the place.

I can’t help it, I’m a sucker for this kind of food. I could probably eat this every day if I didn’t have to worry about my health. I haven’t tried the entire menu, but my go-to order is the fairfax burrito dog with tater tots. I usually order this for delivery, so I haven’t checked out any of the specials yet; trying those is definitely on my bucket list. I’ll probably get a fairfax burrito dog again tonight.

This isn’t Pinks :’( Please heed my advice and go to take some notes from Pinks. — — — — — Sometimes you crave something a little different for lunch. The plain hot-dog was fine. Scrawny looking, but tasted fine and the bread was fresh enough. Cons — $ 3.50 for a hot dog, which I imagine is reasonable, but still, Costco’s are better. — Cheep mayo packs. I imagine not many will ask for mayo, but I did, and it’s First Street(from Smart & Final). Tasted horrible.

Tried Fab’s for the first time today and was blown away by the variety of their menu. Even though you wanna go there for their dogs, they do offer sandwiches and burgers as well. I can’t say that this will happen for everyone, but we got great service and our cashier was so friendly and conversational which I appreciate, especially around here in LA! The Chicago dog and tater tots I tried were absolutely delicious and I would definitely stop by this place again and again to try others! Highly recommend it for anyone in the Westwood area!

Conveniently located, clean, a nice outdoor seating area, fast. It’s a good place to stop by for a quick lunch. Great tater tots! The hot dog itself… I got the LA Street Dog, was pretty standard. Nothing fantastic. I felt that all the peppers and jalapenos on top could be better presented. The bread was soft, but generic. For hot dogs, it’s pretty pricy, but you’ll still easily get a meal including dog, fries, drink for under $ 8.

Oh God! Their Ruben dog tastes so horrendous! I was jonesing for a reuben sandwich type dog, enticed by the pastrami. What I got was the flimsiest hot dog with a single thin slice of pastrami, and loads of [what I assume was spoiled] disgusting sauerkraut. I flinched after every bite because it tasted like bad sauerkraut. Their onion rings are also the sorriest, more disgusting onion rings I’ve ever had. The oil drips all of the place and glues the rings to the paper bag, and all of my onion rings were made«pre-broken» apparently. Think of a broken ring attached by string, and that’s what I had. It also took a lot of mental willpower to eat them. I spent $ 10 on horrible food(thankfully there wasn’t much of it). I don’t know why this place exists…

While in line for Diddy Riese, why not stop in and get a hotdog! Apparently, Guy Fieri from DDD went here, so, why not?! I was told that the LA dog was a popular dog to get(shocker). They weren’t kidding about the wait times since it did take around 10 mins or so for my dog to come out. It was good. I mean, it’s a hot dog w jalapenos, onions, tomatoes. The tots that were ordered also tasted pretty good. Nothing really special to point out or be detailed about. Good lunch spot with a lot of seating inside. Overall: I’d go if I was in the area, but I’m not driving out of my way to them. Good things come to those who wait and overall, it worked. I was satisfied. In the end, you’re there for Diddy Riese and this is a good pit stop before the dessert.

Very friendly, welcoming staff, with a nice casual vibe, and clean atmosphere. With that said, I thought the food was very average… and that’s an overstatement. The hot dog I ate tasted/looked old, and the fries weren’t anywhere as special as the worker made them seem. I went during lunchtime and it was pretty empty. I should’ve taken that as a hint. It’s a heavy snack type of food if you have an appetite, and not worth the price in my opinion. I’ve had better hotdogs elsewhere. I would give it another shot but just after drinking late at night.

Three words. CHILICHEESETOTS I heard from a friend that they taste good with cheddar cheese sauce but I ordered mine with shredded cheddar cheese. These were some of the best tots i’ve had in a while. I was impressed with the quality of the cheese. It’s not like the bag of shredded cheese you get from the market. The size of the order was definitely worth the $ 4.

Fab Hot Dogs is definitely better than the sub place that was previously here. Although… I never tried the other place before. But whatever! I am here to solely review their garlic fries. I think that this place has one of the better garlic fries around the area. I have to admit that it is better than that from the Dodgers Stadium. They make it fresh to order with fresh parsley, garlic and then handtoss it in a metal bowl before your eyes. Service — the owner and all the workers are really nice! I also so people ordering the tator tots… I am a sucker for tator tots. I am going to try those next!

These are the best ever! No seriously, you want it they have it. THISISTHEBESTSERVICEOFANYFASTFOODRESTAURANTEVER! The owners of Fab Hot Dogs are there every day and are helping out bringing your food to you! I didn’t think there would ever be this many choices for hotdogs, and other things, but there are! It takes a little time to get your food, nothing excessive, but be aware of it. When you’re done, go next door and grab a ice cream cookie sandwich! I went, you should go!

First, this place took over my favorite sandwich shoppe, Socko’s, so I’m not too happy about that. The menu options look great. You have so many options for hot dogs so you can be really creative. Unfortunately, the wiener doesn’t stand out at all. It’s actually a bit small compared to the bacon-wrapped street dogs. It’s great we can do whatever want to a hot dog and it’ll taste great too, but price-wise, feels like I’m not getting my money’s worth… It’s a small place. They did open an outdoor seating area so there’s more space than before but still crammed.

Eh, this place is okay. The frank is decent-tasting but too small for the bun it comes in. The Cheese Coney dog I got was okay but could have used more chili and onions. The«Fab sauce» is interesting but not life-changing. These are enjoyable hot dogs but less memorable than a classic Dodger dog and not as adventurous as Pink’s. Fries and tots are blah. Fab isn’t worth driving down for, but if you’re in Westwood and need something for lunch, it’s not a bad option.

When I walked by this place a few days ago, the line was out of the door. So, I went inside to grab a menu so I could see what they were serving up that was causing so much excitement. To my delight, they were offering complimentary tastes of their tater tots, which tasted like… tater tots. They were no better than the ones that I could get frozen at the grocery store. But, anyway, a friend wanted to try the hot dogs so we ventured there for dinner. I had the Fab dog, which came highly recommended by the cashier. It had raw onions, mustard, «Fab» sauce(some«sweet and spicy» concoction) and bacon on a toasted bun. I was not impressed. It looked like a hot dog that I could’ve made at home. The dog had a nice snap but it was small and the toppings and hot dog bun overwhelmed it. My friend had the mexicali dog which had guacamole, sour cream, spicy adobo sauce and grilled onions. It looked like there was too much going on that didn’t mesh well. The positive slant to this meal was that we sat outside on the private patio and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I guess I didn’t find the«fab» factor here. Maybe I should’ve tried one of their more unique dogs because with what we got, I didn’t get the hype. I’ve had better dirty water hot dogs from the streets of NYC. And those are much cheaper! And I felt better after eating them.

WARNING: HIGHLYADDICTIVE! Try Fab’s at your own risk. I’ve been dying to come here ever since LA Times food critic Jonathan Gold said Fab’s is the best hot dog in LA. And put Fab’s on his 99 Essential LA eats. I can now say he absolutely nailed it! Came here with 3 other people and gorged ourselves practically into food comas. It got ugly because I was nowhere near done when my stomach registered full… but there more eatin’ to be done… our dogs and full stomachs didn’t stand a chance against our salivating mouths craving more of their awesome flavor combinations. Their dogs are more than a mouthful… they are an EVENT! They have about 20 specialty dogs on the menu with all kinds of toppings… and I cannot wait to try almost all of them. Highlights of what we did try: SPICYREDNECK: bacon wrapped topped with chili, cole slaw and jalapenos. I was skeptical of this… but HOLYCRAP! It totally worked in every possible way!!! KANSASCITYDOG: bacon wrapped with BBQ sauce, grilled onions & cheddar cheese. The bacon dog is fried so it has an awesome crisp to it and love the way all the flavors come together. FABDOG: Charred all beef dog with Fab’s sweet and spicy sauce, bacon, mustard and onions. YUMMO! Can’t wait to try the LASTREETDOG(bacon wrapped with grilled peppers & onions) and the MEXICALIDOG(charred dog w/guac, sour cream, grilled onions & spicy adobo sauce) next time. Beyond the dogs, the elote(Mexican corn) and the fries rock too! The sweet potato fries in particular have the perfect amount of seasoning and crisp to them. They also have a ton of burgers that I cannot wait to try. I’ve hear the BBQ Pork Belly Cheese Burger is INSANE! Move over Pinks… there’s a new top dog in town!

We first showed up to Fab a few weeks back because they had a sign that they were scheduled to open, but they did not open on the posted date. We then noticed that they were open a couple of weeks back when we were walking by, so we decided to go back today and give it a try. Fab has so many things on their menu that sound amazing. It was hard to choose, so I went with the standard 12″ Fab Dog. I made it a combo with tater tots and a drink, and it came out to be a little less than $ 12. That seems pricey for a hot dog combo, but it was so much more than a regular old wiener in a bun with condiments. It had chunks of bacon and their special Fab sauce that was so good. The tots were also very good. Although I was stuffed, they were so addicting that I kept eating more and more until they were all gone. The staff here were also super friendly and helpful. Everyone from the cashier to the manager were very accommodating, and I could tell that they appreciated our business. The only real negative about eating at Fab is that there is not nearly enough seating. We had a 5 person group sitting at a two person table. It was very uncomfortable and cumbersome. However, they are working on a new outdoor patio that they said would be able to accommodate about 40 additional seats starting next week. Fab can easily be a 5-Star fast food dining experience, but I have to deduct a star for the lack of seating and for not accurately listing when they would be open. The food here is really good, and they use quality ingredients. I can’t wait to eat here again when they finish their patio.

I needed a good lunch after yesterday’s El Tepeyac and Fab Hot Dogs delivered! I was very curious what would happen to this space, as it was formerly occupied by Socko’s Subs. The remodel took a a while, but everything seems to be in good order & my food tasted great. I read Angel’s comment about the tater tots, so I got the Coney dog with tater tots. The Coney dog had chili, onions & mustard. The chili has so much depth & spice to it, and the cheese is not the industrial finely grated cheese, but rather large shreds that almost make me think it is grated at the store. The tater tots are well-seasoned & hot. The food gets an A. The dining room gets a C+ because whoever paired the stools with the tables was not thinking. The stools & table height are not a good match & if you sit inside, you are practically eating at lap height. It’s very uncomfortable, but not sure if it’s something they will fix. Oh well — the food is good. Maybe next time, I’ll get my food to-go?

The neighbor of Diddy Riese is now Fab Hot Dog. Since the original location in Reseda was featured on Food Network’s «Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives», this hot dog joint has reinforced its status of creating non-traditional hot dogs. Recently, Jonathan Gold included this unassuming hot dog joint in his 101 Best Restaurants list on LA TImes. Knowing that JGold approves of Fab Hot Dog, I highly anticipated the Westwood location’s opening. I tried the tater tots yesterday at lunch. When my colleague offered me a tater tot because she was about to dunk the whole tray in her hot dog, I thought, «Tater tots are trying too hard to be cute. It’s just a small bunch of diced potatoes – how good could it be?» I took a bite. And I immediately wanted more. These tater tots were by far the best ones I have eaten. They were crispy and steamy, completed by adequate seasoning of salt and pepper. My skepticism was gone, and I went up to the cashier to order another tray of tater tots as my colleague devoured the rest of hers.
