I can’t find a better cup of coffee than Peet’s. Anywhere. The service has varied at this location over the years, but is generally better than anywhere else. I would prefer to get my coffee at an independent business, but I’m not a fanatic about small businesses – good coffee is such a high priority.

Tip: If you don’t want to pay for parking, turn down the side street before Peets. There’s plenty of residential free parking there. Pros: * really tasty coffee * good location(surrounded by cute little shops and close to the beach.) * free wifi * nice employees(Efrem helped me and was very nice. He offered to brew a coffee that wasn’t available and had a nice demeanor.) * relatively spacious Cons: * not a lot of outlets, so make sure your computer is charged! Suggestions: If you like just plain coffee, get the iced coffee and add a splash of your creamer of choice. For all you sweet tooths, the javiva blended is yummy Although I’ve only been here a couple of times, this is 5 star service because my drink order has been correct each time, I didn’t wait in line too long, and it’s a great atmosphere for studying, working or visiting a friend.

Thought I’d mix it up and come here and not Starbucks. Bad attitudes here, they won’t mix in the milk in coffee saying it’s available at the sugar stand(it wasn’t, they only had skim) then when I asked the barista rolled her eyes At me. They don’t hear up food, or if they do they don’t offer. I’ll stick to Starbucks

Their coffee’s so good here. I get a medium iced vanilla late whenever I visit with an extra shot of espresso. Tastes nice and strong. Good prices and super friendly staff.

The coffee was delicious, but lowered stars on service. I purposely used a $ 20 bill to break up change for parking at my next destination, and I was being chatty with the cashier(my fault) who was totally friendly, but I didn’t realize that he shorted me $ 10 in change(he gave me $ 5 for change on a $ 10 instead of $ 15 for change on a $ 20) until I got to my next destination and was like«where the heck did the rest of my money go? So that sucks… oh well, Peets lattes are totally worth $ 15 lol

~~~Coffee, Please & Thank you!!~~~ No need to feed the meter until 1000 am! Plenty of metered parking spaces in the parking lot behind Peets! From 2nd St, turn onto Covina Ave towards the ocean. Only 25 cents per hour… not bad for Long Beach, right? Last time I was here, no brekkie sammies offered. :/They didn’t even have a microwave to warm up the pastries. I was told it’s in the works… city approvals and such… Well, at least this place is CLEAN and has free strong WiFi! Oh yeah, and no complaints on their cup of joes or customer service.
Love this place. The coffee is always good, they rarely make mistakes and the employees rock. Stay on this side of the street
I’ve been to this Peet’s several times. I haven’t had an experience that stood out one way or another. But this last time, was a bit different. I live in the neighborhood and walked over to 2nd Street to run an errand. After my errand, I went to Peet’s. This means I passed Starbucks twice and Coffee Bean once. I don’t think there’s much difference, but I’d rather spend money at the smaller company if possible. I got to Peet’s at 8:14 pm. I checked, because I wanted to make sure they were open. They close at 9:00, so I was good. I had already decided what I wanted to drink before going in. I also wanted something from their baked goods. I figured they may not have much of a selection due to the time. As I walked up to order, I saw a male employee dumping all the bakery items into a trash bag. He was just about to dump the last plate of food into the bag as I said to the female employee ready to take my order, «Well, I guess I won’t have any of those.» He stopped what he was doing and held that last plate over the trash bag. She asked, «Oh, did you want something there?» I said, «Not if he’s throwing them away.» She said, «Oh, we’re not throwing them away. We’re giving them to a homeless shelter.» I said, «That’s ok, I’ll just get the coffee.» Two things: First, I’m so glad they give their remaining food to those who might be hungry rather than wasting it. I applaud them and encourage them to continue doing so. The second thing is, and this may be a pet peeve of mine having worked in a variety of restaurants, if you close at 9, don’t close your bakery counter at 8:15(or fryer, salad bar, shake machine etc.). I know everyone wants to get a head start on closing, but you’re open until 9, fully open. This is a highly competitive area with Starbucks literally across the street and Coffee Bean a block or two away. You don’t need to give anyone a reason to go to one of those.
Petes Coffee is always the same treat of a venture as Starbucks. For those of you who don’t know, it’s the same company. This particular establishment of Pete’s Coffee is perfectly situated on a corner of a very busy beach run community. As soon as we walked up with Gizmo(Tibetan Spaniel) all who were sitting out on the benches provided by Pete’s were very happy people & greeted Gizmo immediately. :) The energy surrounding this coffee shop is buzzing with positivity. There’s plenty of room inside to grab a table and get to work. With the free wifi you can always get some work done on the run of need be. So all in all, if you’re in the area, the staff is super chill & the community regulars are all laid back, beach style, kind of attitudes. ;) So venture in!
I had the small Mayan Mocha with 2% milk and whip cream for $ 3.75. It was so good! I have had a lot of Mexican Mochas but this is different because there is some chili pepper in it. It gave it some kick. It was chocolatey and not too sweet. Friendly and helpful staff. I asked the employee if there was real pumpkin in the pumpkin latte, when she said no, I went with the Mayan mocha. It was 90 degrees hot outside but it was very cool inside with full A/C. There are plenty of tables and chairs and my friend and I had a chat over coffee.
Peet’s is really growing on me. Not only was the service excellent here, but my iced blended caramel mocha was perfect! My husband had the blended espresso which was also great, just not as sweet so I preferred mine better. Nice location, plenty of seating, very clean and well maintained. Easy metered parking out front, great location!
On SundaySeptemberI 10, I purchased my beverages and try to locate a seat designated for disable patrons. I saw a table by the door & unfortunately it was occupied by two young persons. I went up to the service counter in hope they will intervene on my behalf; they replied by saying there’s nothing they can do or will do to accommodate me even though there is a display of disability sign(wheelchair) glued to the corner surface of the table. The facts that there were other vacant table available at the time of my request & businesses by law have to accommodate the disable persons; therefore Pete Coffee has clearly shown not conducting business in the interest to disable patrons! I’ve been a loyal card carried customer, always keep a moderate $ amount for future purchase! Would I visit this store or recommend this store to others? It’s a definite«NO» George Bioletto /Long Beach, CA
One of my favorite coffee places on 2nd st. I like that they have a canister of soy milk. Service is ok. It’s about half and half of servers that are friendly though mostvof the time they are nice. I’ve never gotten anything of than coffee so can’t vouch for the mixed drinks but they look good.
My first time at a Peet’s coffee. We have a Starbucks by our house in Vegas so that is what we are used to. We had a good experience at Peet’s. The drinks were really good and the staff was very friendly and helped us figure out what drinks we would like based on what we usually get at home.
I come here when I need to study yet Starbucks is too crowded. Peet’s usually has empty tables and is less crowded than Starbucks, so I would rather come here for that purpose. The store does not seem to be as well kept though. ½ of the time that I come here, the table is usually sticky. Kind of unpleasant especially since my main purpose when coming here is to study. There also is a limited number of available outlets, so that’s definitely a downside to this location. Other than that, the baristas are friendly most of the time and the coffee is strong. Not my first choice coffee shop on 2nd St, but it gets the job done.
I’ve had Peet’s twice now, specifically at this location. Once, over three years ago(yes, my mind’s a little foggy to remember much about the first time), and now during my most current visit. In those two times I know well enough to say that I like it better than the other two major coffee chains; which you’ll also find closely located on 2nd in the Belmont Shore neighborhood. My favorite part about this shop is it’s location, which is basically right in the center of this neighborhood’s main street. So if you need a little pick-me-up after some shopping, eating, or even some day drinking at the bars nearby, it’s only a small walk away from any point on this street. Now I really wish I had experienced the chipper welcome I read in a few of the reviews before me, or even the«How would you like your coffee?» routine. But I know at the day’s end most people just want to get their job done, so I don’t blame the staff for the plain service. At least they weren’t rude, and didn’t seem to rush us out. I had«The Black Tie» and my girlfriend had a green tea. While green tea is just green tea, «The Black Tie» is an exceptional cold brew. I guess it’s their take on a Vietnamese coffee. Instead, they use an East African coffee blend for their brew, sweeten it with condensed milk and chicory simple syrup, then top it off with a splash of half and half. It was so full of flavor! All in all, great job by the staff, although my order took very minimal effort to make. Sometimes even the simplest drinks are ruined, thankfully that wasn’t the case here. So all’s I know is I’ll be back for another cold brew — Cuz I got a free medium drink for purchasing a gift card for over $ 25! What! Yes!!!
5-stars for my Matcha Green Tea Latte and that one barista! That guy’s got a great voice and I could have sat there listening to him call out the pick-ups for quite a while! Also, it’s so nice to see that all the staff really looked like they were enjoying themselves. Earlier this year, while on vacation to Lake Tahoe, I fell in love with Peet’s. There were Peet’s all over the place; even in their Raley supermarkets. I HAD to come here. It was hot weather while we were in Tahoe, so I tried only their iced beverages. Since it was chilly out and I needed a nice cup of joe to keep my hands warm, I wanted to try their coffee/tea menu. Thing is, it’s hard to make a choice. I kept changing my mind up until the moment the gal at the register said«May I help you?». One thing I love about Peet’s is how you are asked how you’d like to customize your beverage. «2% milk?» «How sweet would you like it?» «A dash of sea salt? Sure!» I wish we had a Peet’s in my neighborhood. I’d be there quite often.
Starbucks is usually my go-to place for a simple cup of coffee, but I decided to try something new and I’m very glad that I did! I was greeted once I walked in and the barista offered me a sample of their new Coconut Macdamia Freddo(at that time I didn’t know what the heck a freddo was LOL) and my mouth just drooled. I was going to go with my usual Iced Chai Tea Latte but went for it and ordered the Coconut Macadamia Freddo. I usually am picky with my blended drinks cause they always come out way too icey or watery… but it was just perfect! Parking was very easy along the street. Ambiance was very warm and welcoming, and customer service was also great which is always a big plus! I am one satisfied customer and definitely will be back! Ps if you check in you will get $ 1 off any coconut drink!(That’s why I upgraded to a large!)
