Tried this place for the first time this weekend when the hubby and I were craving sandwiches for lunch. I ordered the veggie Reuben and he got the turkey club, both really good in size and delicious, its hard to get a veggie patty right but they nailed it, it would have been nice if it came with a side dish. This place looks like it might be good for brunch too. Bathrooms are located outside because the place is on the corner and on the smaller size and also I am not sure if it was just because on this day it was 100 degrees but it did not seem like they had air conditioning which made it a bit uncomfortable to eat but nothing to cry about. The place had a cute concept and the owner is a treat, if you are craving a taste of NY deli this is the place/

I have been coming to Brix, both the Sunset Beach and this one since it opened. I love the ambiance, the wine, the food and especially the servers. Every meal I have ever had here has been great, never a bad meal. I especially love the Chowda, and my husband loves the pastrami sandwiches. The servers are great, always welcoming and efficient. As there are no wine bars as such in Belmont Shores, so this is the place to go, even for a glass or 2 or 4 of wine after work. I bring my friends here a lot, and they all love it. The owner Rick is a hoot, always happy and will bend over backwards to make sure you have a great evening at his wine bar. His knowledge of wine is fantastic. I highly recommend this place, and will continue to frequent this fabulous gem in Long Beach, as will all my friends

I never have Unilocal-ed about The Chutzpah from the weekend Brunch Menu and I have had it probably 20+ times over the last few years. It’s that damn delicious of a pastrami egg burrito that I start thinking about it on Friday! With the great service that owner Rick provides for us and our dog outside, it’s a treat for the high quality pastrami to go with the fine beer and wine choices.

DONOTEATHERE! Absolutely atrocious! I am Melanie D’s mom and fully endorse everything she says! The food was inedible. We literally felt bad for the guy who served us(we think maybe owner!) as he «tried» to do the right thing. He replaced our salads(but first told us that the lettuce was«fresh that morning», then must have had second thoughts about it and knew he should replace them. The second salads were worse(if that’s possible). Dry microwaved chicken, served hot on top of brown, wilted lettuce! YUK! We really shouldn’t have paid for it, or leave him a decent tip, but we felt sorry for him! We will never darken the door again… and hope other folks don’t waste their time and money. As my daughter says, we threw it directly in the trash can outside! This place will NEVER make it! Jo P.

As a HUGE fan of our small businesses & living in the immediate area, I like to at a minimum audition all our restaurants as a show of support. We’ve found many gems along the way, and made many friends as well while enjoying some of the best food that Belmont Shore and Long Beach as a whole, has to offer. We’ve been frequenting Roe across the street, and have fallen in love with the food, the wonderful owners, and all the amazing qualities that come along with gaining wholehearted support from their locals. They’re a shining example of the talent, consistency and persistence it takes in sucsess for long haul. Having said that, every time we are there I look across the street knowing that I hadn’t yet even tried Brix on The Shore, and started to actually feel bad that I hadn’t! So today was the day — My mom came down and we always have so much variety of solid, delicious cuisine to choose from. I decided I’d surprise us both, with trying BriX. Upon entry, the gentleman that greeted us and ended up serving us was warm and friendly, and we chose a seat(there wasn’t anyone else there when we arrived). The place was dishevelled, there were stacks and stacks of boxes under the countless random wine bottles on the bar. It was very untidy looking. Almost as if they were still moving in. We both ordered salads. Their descriptions sounded lovely and I was still exited to be there, telling the gentleman I hadn’t been there yet and was glad I finally made it. The salads came very quickly. Their appearance alone was ghastly. The lettuce was brow and yellow, the majority of the romaine was so bitter,(from being old and/or how hot it was in the restaurant) it was literally inedible. The«tomatoes» tasted as if they’d been marinated in vinegar. The hot, dry chicken on top of the salad had the appearance of just coming out of the microwave. It was really bad. When the gentleman asked us how everything was, I had to be honest. I just said it «wasn’t so great». When he asked why, I explained. At first he simply said the the lettuce had just come in that day and it was fine. I wasn’t going to argue, and I didn’t want to have some kind of conflict and ruin our afternoon. He walked off. I can only surmise that he may have realized he didn’t deal appropriately with the situation, because he quickly came back to tell us he was having new salads made with fresh lettuce from today.(Although he had just told us our salads we complained about contained fresh lettuce from today! No point in raising that discrepancy)… He came back 5 minutes later with two more salads, and unfortunately they were just as bad as the first round. They were exactly the same, but the romaine was much more finely chopped, and was doused in dressing to perhaps safeguard us from the flavor of the lettuce. We felt bad as he had come around and done the right thing after not doing so initially, and we just didn’t know what else to do. We asked him for two boxes, paid the $ 20 each to cover the salads and tip, and threw both to go boxes directly in the trash down the block as not to insult the place. I had always said«you can’t screw up a salad» … Boy was I wrong! Sad to say, but I will definitely not ever return to the good ol BriX on The Shore. But I can say I gave it a shot. My suggestion would be to have the cook taste his food(and look at the plate’s appearance) before he sends it out to the customers. Good luck.

I’m sorry, but this place is as much as a New York deli as «In and Out» could be deemed one. The menu is hardly within the deli realm. Plus, it is challenging to read and understand what you will be receiving as stated on their food list. Yesterday, my brother and I went there thinking we would be ordering deli sandwiches in the realm of pastrami or corn beef. Looking at the menu, my brother thought he ordered a pastrami sandwich on rye bread and it turned out he ended up having a hamburger laced with pastrami on the top. Hardly what he thought he ordered and not really what he wanted. I tried to find food not full of dairy items(since I am lactose intolerant), and it was difficult to work for anything within that realm. I truly wanted a corn beef or pastrami sandwich on rye bread with potato salad and a kosher pickle. They have no potato salad and the sandwich didn’t really sound how I wanted it. Ended up ordering a hamburger which was ok, but I did not drive there to get one. Bottomline: They should rename this Brix Is A «Schnorrer»(Yiddish for taking a lot money for nothing). When my brother and I ended up with two burgers, two side orders(me fries and him onion rings), plus, water for me and beer for him at the cost of almost $ 53.00, it makes me realize, based upon what they have and the price, you should say«Shalom»(Good-bye!!)

Great food and great service. They also have an impressive menu of wine and microbrews. We dine in or take out at least twice a month.

Just left Brix and their pastrami sandwich is delicious! Had a Groupon that I purchased months ago that includes either beer or wine flights. Instructions on the Groupon required us to make a reservation and it was quite easy and hassle-free to do so. Shout out to Brian, our server/host, for the great service also.

Had a rough start with a call-in order that we cancelled but Rick called and set everything straight. We will be ordering from Brix again next week. It really means a lot for him to call and apologize for the initial interaction. They really do have the best pastrami, excellent mimosas and great service!

Walked in on a Monday around 1pm. The place was empty, besides the bar. The tables in front were dirty. We waited around in between 5 – 10 minutes and no one came to give us menus or even acknowledge us, so we left. Once we are out the door the bar man, who turned out to be the owner asked us why we were leaving. Mind you he saw us waiting to be served. He talked us in the coming back. We got a full sized sandwich and half a sandwich, small salad, and one beer. The bill was $ 50. Although the food was good. It was not worth it and the place was dismal. Won’t recommend it and won’t go back.

Lively ambiance, artist, clean! Pastrami sandwiches are lovely with coke slaw included. Chowda! Is delicious and topped with dill and made with wine! Pesto garlic fries are to die for!

I really like this spot. The food is great(try the Fuggetaboutit [spelling?]) and the drink selection is spectacular, too. The main room is cozy, but the crowd is usually made up of friendly folks and some families too. I’d describe the atmosphere as somewhere between fancy and casual, mostly because the décor is fancy but the vibe is casual. The staff and patrons have a «come-as-you-are» quality to them that is welcoming and comfortable. There is usually live music(jazz improvisations, as far as I can tell), which adds to the overall atmosphere. A great place to visit for a quick bite or a casual hangout. It’s also a good place to take a date, if you don’t mind sitting very close to them. ;-)

Brix gets reviewed for its meals, which are good of course. Excellent pastrami, the best garlic fries in the Shore, and pastrami egg rolls(wonderfulness in an easy to handle size) are always great choices. What often gets overlooked is the vibe of the place that makes it perfect for an after work afternoon round(or two) with friends or those that will soon be friends. Never have I been to Brix — flying in solo– and not been in conversation with other patrons at the bar within minutes of sitting down. I love Brix for meals with family, and friends, and for meeting new friends over great beer and wine selections.

I love this place. Food is consistently good. The owner is so knowledgeable about wine. I sometimes just drop in for a glass of wine and then watching all the food being delivered to the tables I cave and either have dinner or take food to go. Closet thing we have to a real deli in the shore. But most deli’s don’t offer great wine list so that makes it extra special. The pastrami is the Best quality. I recommend eating here & stay for the music.

Hi, We gave this place another try(last time was a terrible experience). The service was way better. Right when we walked in we got greeted warmly and seated immediately. The food was good(8⁄10), I must say the pastrami is the bomb. We will be back for sure :)

Awful service and over-priced food. There were ten of us and they only brought about 4 plates and a few silverware settings, and we had to repeatedly ask for more. Two people didn’t receive their entrees until about 30 minutes after everyone else did. Ordered the Mitzvah and since it’s $ 17 I thought I’d receive two good size sandwich halves. Instead it was a pretty small serving with maybe 10 potato chips on the side. Think the size of a regular slice of bread, cut in half. The food wasn’t even that great.

Ordered 4 sandwiches for delivery and the garlic fries. It took well over an hour and by the time the food arrived, the bread was a soggy mess. Ordered 2 Fuhgeddaboudits… each costing 15 dollars, no sides included… and they were very plain tasting and mediocre. Honestly, you can get much better for much cheaper at any mom and pop burger shop in Long Beach, fries included! The garlic fries were decent tasting, but like the sandwich bread, were soggy. I understand that they are portraying themselves as a higher class establishment with higher prices, wine and no sides… but the execution does not match the price. Do yourself a favor and skip this one, save money and get better food from one of the dozens of other burger and fries joints within a 5 mile radius.

Live music, wine bar, great food, and next to cheese shop; Are they trying to make my universe implode? They have great local and well known beers on tap and an amazing wine selection. The Bartender was also super helpful and assisted us in picking the best beers and wines. Although I did chose the house wine, It was a great and robust in flavor. I would love to come back here when I am in the Long Beach area!

Came here for a friend’s birthday dinner and had an okay experience. She had made reservations a week in advance but the space they gave us was a bit awkward and cramped, and there were other areas that looked like they could’ve been much better suited so I’m not sure how they decide how to set up reserved tables/areas. Their drinks menu is also along a chalkboard wall in the back, so it was a bit of an ordeal for our party of 12 to figure out drink orders. On to the food– I had looked at the menu beforehand and was immediately in love with the item names. Unfortunately I’m not a huge fan of pastrami or the like, so I just went with a grilled cheese and side of fries. Can’t really go wrong with something so simple. It was okay– I’ve had better grilled cheese elsewhere, but it wasn’t bad or anything. Fries were good. No one at the table complained about their food, but no one really loved it either. I did try one of the fried pickles, though, and those were really good. A lot better than what I was expecting a fried pickle to taste like, having never had one before. The service was… less than stellar. I would say this is not the best place to go for a large party. I’m sure the service is fine normally, but for a large party, our food took FOREVER to come out and there were a couple mistakes/forgotten orders. Other than that, and a little miscommunication surrounding how we would break down the final bill, the owner was fun and nice, and the live music created a cool vibe :) Tip: If you want to bring in a cake, they’re happy to hold it in the back for you. Bring your own plates and forks, though, otherwise they will charge you $ 10 to use theirs.

The live jazz music from 4−7pm on Sundays caught our attention while we passed by. We tried the jalapeño margaritas, tasty, but not very strong, so we switched to their wide selection of wines. Loved how garlicky the garfunkel fries were, the sausages were juicy, and the Spanish Harlem flatbread was pretty good too. My friend ordered the blue cheese burger med rare & it came out well done, but they corrected the order. The buns seemed quite large & dry. Three ppl who ordered burgers removed the top part of the buns, but the pattys were well seasoned. The server seemed out of it, made a few errors on our order, & the items came out obliviously as to who ordered what. Nonetheless, we made the most of our time there. I would return, mainly for the live jazz & nice ambiance.
