Came here this last Saturday for an early Father’s day breakfast with my Papa Sent him a couple options over text messages and told him this place looked like that didn’t only offer the, «basic» breakfast classics, and that items like grilled octopus or duck and waffles made an appearance on this menu… SOLD! Breakfast is actually my least favorite meal of the day to eat out. Sometimes I end up going to extremely popular breakfast spots that my fellow Unilocalers rave about and am disappointed with a sad omelet or yogurt bowl that I could have easily whipped up at home. However after a quick survey of Restauration’s menu I knew it would not disappoint and I was right. The interior is darling with a very limited seating area and a 6 person bar with a TV. The whole esthetic of the restaurant gives you modern«farm house» vibes and you wouldn’t guess it from the front but the outdoor patio in back of the building opens up to a huge beautiful seating area. There are potted plants, stringed twinkle lights, a huge wood fired oven and luckily for us– fans to help cool everyone down on that hot Saturday afternoon. My dad and I got a cold brewed coffee which was absolutely delicious and fresh squeeze OJ. Food wise he went with the Fried Duck n’ Waffles, we split their Beet and Ricotta salad, and I got the Grilled Octopus with house made caesar dressing. Everything was fresh, mouth watering, and the opposite of a «basic“breakfast. OH and to top off this amazing brunch the patio is Dog Friendly! Dog watching + cold brew coffee + amazing food = my idea of a perfect brunch spot.

I just moved to Long Beach from Playa del Rey and so far this place is my absolute favorite. I love the ambiance. The bottomless mimosas are done right, you don’t ever see the bottom of your glass! The staff was really friendly and the food was down right amazing! They have a lot of brunch options for anyone who’s gluten free which is a HUGE plus in my book! A++

I had breakfast here last Sunday the 12th Samantha was my server, in a word awesome! I had the shrimp and grits it was well prepared and had a good balance of flavor profiles, the pork belly side was quite nice, I wanted it to be crispier, contrary to other postings if you arrive before 9:00 you can get in, you can also call ahead! Great job! I will be back soon. Chef Vince (Retired)

Another awesome dining experience! Everything was excellent. Some of our favorites include the octopus salad, the salmon, squash blossoms and the bread pudding. The staff is helpful and knows the menu. Bubba served us tonight and he gave us great recommendations and suggestions. Try the red sangria! Excellent and very easy to drink. The patio is perfect for summertime dining. Great restaurant, people and food. Thanks again for another amazing meal.

After a better service I have to up the stars. The service and food are good overall. With an ever changing menu I’m always sad when something I like disappears but that’s just how they keep their options fresh and new. My biggest problem is the portions to price ratio. Overall smaller portions for high prices. Don’t get me wrong the food is good but the price is just up there for what you end up getting. I like the food but usually leave a little hungry unless I spend $ 80+ for two people. Still Restauration is in my list of to go to places in Long Beach. Go here just not every day.

I’m so disappointed. With the great reviews I came here with such great expectation. If it weren’t for the cute garden decors and good service my rating would have been much lower. Apparently, their menu is seasonal meaning don’t expect to come back and order a dish you love a week ago ’cause more often than not, it’s no longer available. With that being said, i initially wanted to try their flat iron steak but it’s no longer available so I settled for their braised short ribs. It was so dry and it had no flavor. It tasted bitter from being overcooked? I don’t know, it was just awful. Sorry, I really did want to like this place but it was just bad. Not worth the hour wait. Bad food but good vibe but still not worth coming back in my opinion.

Ok. I’m officially breaking up with Restauration. Usually, I have nothing but great things to say about them and have been a loyal weekend customer and have ordered food for delivery on multiple occasions. Is it me? Or has the food gotten worse with smaller portions and the pricing has gone up? And by the way, I don’t know what’s been going on in the kitchen lately. Tonight I ordered«The Burger», which has been one of my favorites since the beginning. It was delivered room temperature, the seasoning was over powering(salty), and it tasted different. Quite frankly, it was just plain awful! Perhaps a new cook? I don’t know! In the beginning, I loved their food — they could do no wrong. Then over the past several months it seemed like the food has not been so great. But, I still kept coming back wanting to believe it was just an isolated bad experience. Well, tonight put the icing on the cake! We are officially broken up! Don’t take it personal…

Are you in the mood for a piece of meat? Did you get your protein today? I come to Restauration mainly because of their Steak n Eggs. In my opinion, they have one of the best Prime FLATIRON STEAKs in Long Beach. These juicy hand-rubbed marinated slices of steak tastes as good as it looks. I have tried other brunch items here as well, and they’re all great except for the WINSTON. Which is why I’m thinkin it’s not on the menu anymore. I’ve ordered it a few times, and both times had hardly any meat, mostly egg. ‘WHERE’S THEBEEF!’. — The flavorful CHILAQUILES with the tender crunchy PORKBELLY was very good! — The HUEVOSRANCHEROS was also very good! Love the flavor of the sauce. — BEERBATTEREDONIONRINGS! Always great! — AVOCADOTOAST — Amazing! Organic baked egg resting in the middle of an Avocado, a Tomato Salad, and good amount of Feta that sprinkled about. — FREEDOMTOAST– Love this! Homemade brioche loaf/house strawberry jam + bananas/whipped butter cream — DUCKCONFIT + WAFFLE — Duck is a tiny on the salty side, but still Very Good, and recommended. Delicious Mustard Maple Syrup for pouring, dipping, or licking. — THE BLaT Sandwich– Excellent! Pork Belly, Butter Lettuce, Avocado & Tomato. Because of the low carb diet I enjoy being on, I don’t eat bread as much as I’d like. However, Restauration is one restaurant I don’t pass up on the served side of bread. This fresh tasting bread is made in house… gotta love things fresh. I have still yet to try their pizza. I’ve heard they’re pretty good, especially when cooked in a Wood-fired oven they have, which in my opinion, is the best way to cook pizza. Restauration is a located on E. 4th st., nestled in a popular cool Vintage area called Retro Row. So if you’re driving down 4th, slow the heck down, otherwise you’re going to miss this hard to see hole-in-the-wall. Btw, the parking situation here is typical for Long Beach… sucks! Once you walk in, you’ll notice a quaint modern retro front dining area, with a bar to enjoy their unique concoctions, wine, craft beer(please bring the BREAKFASTSTOUT back), and especially a variety of sangrias they’re known for. If you’re more of a patio person like me, they have a cozy rustic barn-like patio out back. Mounted on the walls are your farm-hand tools of trade, and on one side, a garden wall filled with herbs, flowers and berries. Canvas overhang and heaters in place for those not so sunny days. Trivia, who occupied this same location prior to Restauration? Hopefully, Restauration will be around for a very long time. The following are reasons why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. — Inconsistent food items, both taste and presentation, and offerings — Inconsistent in the delivery of the food items. Some days very slow… without it being busy. One day, my buddy and I were the only ones in the house, where It took an exceptionally long time for our food. Regardless if you had just opened, the kitchen should be ready… no excuse. — Some days I’ve noticed the front dining area in disarray. — Time to CLEAN the pillows and cushions in the patio. — Because of having a garden and live plants in the patio area, be more cognizant of the increased potential of bugs and flying insects. Despite the minor infringements, overall, Restauration is my solid choice for brunch. I will be returning. So if you want a good piece of meat, come get yourself some. Sorry to say, STEAK is no longer on the menu. *side note– if these minor infringements are not addressed, they tend to turn into major infringements which turn into customers, including myself, not motivated to return. Massive potential here… but you have to tap into that potential in order for it to become reality. In other words… LISTENTOYOURCUSTOMERS!

Came here on a Saturday for breakfast and was not all that impressed. First off, there wasn’t much selection on the menu. I wanted eggs Benedict but they didn’t have have any kind of meat for it, just the simple English muffin, poached egg, and hollandaise sauce. The server indicated that their menu changes from time to time and that day just wasn’t our lucky day. So she suggested us to get a bacon on the side. For a $ 10+ dish, it was not at all impressive. You would think there’ll be a side of potatoes or tater tots but there was none. We also got the breakfast sandwich. It had a huge chuck of pork in it that looked delicious. However, it looked way better than it tasted. The pork, the star of the sandwich, was somewhat bland and the sauces also did not bring out its flavors. At least for this dish, there were some tater tots on the side. In addition, we also got a side of white toast and tbh that was probably the most delicious thing we ordered. The jam they provided with the toast was really good, probably house made. Would’ve given this place a three star if it wasn’t for the price. Honestly, the food wasn’t all that bad but for its price, I definitely expect a lot more. The side of bacon and white toast cost $ 4 each, which in my opinion is totally a rip off. Definitely will not be coming back here any time soon. There are so many other better breakfast places around the neighborhood.

Think of this as a mashup between a backyard den and a garden setup. That’s what it sort of resembled to me from the tools hung up on the back wall and the wooden arrangement used for displaying flowers. It was a mesmerizing scene to be honest, with a real homey vibe. Yet, this almost worked against the restaurant because it got me feeling all warm and fuzzy for what I thought would be an exciting meal. Both the setting and the staff were nice, but nice only goes so far. I had the 4th Street Burger, not realizing it was a vegetarian option. As a result I had to force myself to eat a falafel burger(which was executed quite well) I was not anticipating. Ultimately leaving me with a longing for something fat and savory. My girlfriend had the«Norma» pizza and that had a great combination of flavors, yet it was still lacking in some regard. That item it was lacking was? Yup you guessed it, meat! Overlooking the negatives, the burger was decent. What I feared most was an overcooked dry falafel, but this one was actually moist though the exterior was a little dry. It stayed true to its Mediterranean influence as it was complimented by the harissa ketchup, cucumber, and the special spread on the bun. Fortunately there is no one else to blame, it is entirely our fault that we had what we considered a mediocre experience. I was not dissatisfied with the food but I definitely believe I should have opted for something else off the menu. The food is what usually makes or breaks a place, either by surpassing expectations or at least meeting them. Restauration has the potential to knock it out the park, but that might just have to take place another time.

I was bummed out when I heard Bistro 212 was gone, but I recovered from my disappointment when I tried the new Restauration. I’ve been here twice and have really enjoyed the new joint. The décor is super duper cute, both inside and out in the patio. The inside looks and feels like somebody’s poshy livingroom and the patio cozy and earthy like I wish mine was! I appreciate that even though most of the dishes are meat based, there are a few very yummy vegetarian dishes. I’ve tried the 4th street burger made w a felafel patty, and the Norma pizza with eggplant and cherry tomatoes. Both delish! The white sangria is great and the OJ is the most fresh tasting juice I’ve ever tried! Is it dorky that I’d go back just for a glass of orange juice? But, yes, I would!

Saturday evening with my Girls. 2 of us are OC and one of us is LA so the natural spot to meet is Long Beach. Down town is too busy so naturally that means we hit one of the amazing spots on Retro Row. One of my GF’s suggested Restauration oh that was a good call! We all arrive together and are seated in the coolest patio. The herb gardens and bench seating are all just so inviting. The staff is welcoming and were very patient with all of our food allergies and preferences. Answered all of our questions and made accommodations on a few of the items like the grilled bread, made sure to keep it dairy free etc. I order the cauliflower steak and the red sangria. I was so happy. I grill veggies all the time, but somehow I have never had grilled Cauliflower before and I am looking forward to having it again. One thing that would have been nice is if they had removed the outer peel from the stalk, that was tough to deal with. But on the whole the smokey flavor and sweetness of the raisons were so good. The purée was nice as were the roasted hazelnuts. over all I very much enjoyed this meal. My GF had the asperagus, I had a little of this plate, it was more like a salad with lots of pea shoots with the leaks. The asparagus was a little stringy and tough, once again on the large pieces removing the outer skin would have made it better. But still very good. Oh and of course the red sangria was awesome with the little mulberry garnish. It was not overly sweet, just a really nice refreshing sangria that I will totally come back for. I can see a Sunday mid day being completely lost to red sangira’s and this awesome patio.

I am a lucky girl because my friends and family threw me a surprise bridal shower here and it was just lovely. The food was pretty awesome and they let us have a back section in the patio along the wall which was just perfect to host us. The décor is very rustic and the outdoor space just fit the overall vibe perfectly. We ate: FRITATTA — YUM! AVOCADOTOAST? — plenty of avocado and pretty delicious PRIMEFLATIRONSTEAK — The star of the meal, and it was cooked to perfection. FRENCHTOAST — a little sweet for my taste served beautifully and the berries were great. Service was friendly and they were happy to take a few group pictures for us through our event. I had a great time! I think prices are decent when looking at the menu but their pre-fixed was a bit steep.

The wait can be long, as reservations are for parties of 8+ people only. But, the revamped menu under Chef Philip Pretty is promising. A couple of friends and I came for brunch and ended up waiting approximately 45 minutes, after which we were seated in the back patio(recommended). I had the CHICKENHASH. It’s beautifully plated. There are two sunny side eggs, sliced house potatoes, peppers, feta and salsa verde. Less prominent is the shredded chicken, but it’s there! The minimal amount of chicken though is a bit disappointing, but at least it all tastes good. Rounding out the dish are a couple slices of grilled toast. Restauration seemed extremely popular and I wonder if the long waiting times will wear on patrons. Not sure if that’s better than opening up their reservation policy.

This place takes the word«brunch» to a whole new level! Food(4⁄5): their cuisine and style here is quite phenomenal! I love the variety and elegance they have on their menu. Came here for a belated birthday brunch with several of my friends and we all got something different. Everyone was pretty pleased with their order. The only downside is that some of their things such as the veggie quesadilla or fruit plate is quite pricey for something you could probably make on your own. Service(5⁄5): the service here is absolutely phenomenal! The lady we had taking care of us was very responsive and helpful in getting our orders Ambience/Design(5⁄5): I wish I could give 10 stars for this part! I LOVE the inside and outside of this place! Super creative and well put and done together! LOVE, LOVE this place! It’s a bit on the pricier side but I will always love to come back here to have a good brunch meal!

I don’t think the Los Angeles culinary scene realizes the talent we recently lost to Long Beach. One of my most favorite chefs in Los Angeles, Chef Philip Pretty, left Fundamental LA in Westwood to return to Long Beach, his hometown. Chef Philip Pretty has been flying«under-the-radar» in LA cooking some of the most beautifully plated dishes and the most inventive, delicious food in all of Los Angeles. Chef Philip worked in many highly acclaimed kitchens of Los Angeles such as Sona, Joe’s, and Michelin-rated Providence. He also spent some time as chef de cuisine at Gordon Ramsay at the London Hotel in WeHo. A little more than 3 months into his new restaurant partnership(he’s now a co-owner) at Restauration, we decided to revisit his cooking and while we were there, we discovered the Restauration menu was recently completely revamped. Perfect timing. Our server that evening was Lauren, who is one of best servers I’ve encountered at a restaurant. Cheerful, attentive and really friendly, I felt that she loved interacting with people. She gave us her recommendation of dishes to try off the new menu and pointed out some of the dishes they kept from the old menu which they incorporated into Chef Philip Pretty’s rustic, farm-to-table menu. The chef’s menu at Restauration is a bit different than the dishes he was offering for dinner over at Fundamental LA, most likely easing Long Beach into his cooking, not completely departing from what they were used to at Restauration. What I love about Chef Philip is that his style of cooking is different from what I have encountered at restaurants in Los Angeles. Not only are the plates stylized all his own, they are tasty as well. His dishes could hold up against the most artistically plated dishes at Chef Craig Thornton’s exclusive Wolvesmouth dinner parties. I couldn’t believe what I was eating during DineLA. My friend and I both felt that we underpaid for the kind of food we were eating that evening discovering his cooking. We weren’t the only ones impressed by his cooking. Before my visit to Fundamental LA, I read about him in the New York Times. A New York Times writer who was in town and received a tip about Chef Philip. The writer featured his«cinnamon brioche French toast with foie gras» in his article about foie gras — . We tried a wide range of dishes to share family-style that evening. I feel that we all left feeling impressed by what he’s doing at Restauration elevating the Long Beach dining scene. Chef Philip is sourcing produce at a local Long Beach farm and utilizing vertical space in the patio dining area and also the roof to grow ingredients for the kitchen. Even though the dishes weren’t too avant-garde as they were at Fundamental LA, I still enjoyed tasting all the«farm-to-table» dishes we shared that evening. As a comparison, I much preferred the food at Restauration more than I did while dining at the much more celebrated rustic cuisine at Rustic Canyon in Santa Monica.

Great place for a weekend brunch! Came to Restauration during a visit to Long Beach. Parking was on the street since it does not have its own private lot. Wait time was about 20 – 25 minutes during a busy Sunday. Ordered the Market Vegetable Omelet, which was very tasty and fresh. Lots of cheese, corn, peppers, tomatoes, and a side of potatoes. It was very filling as well! The ambiance is very quaint, with most of the seating in a back patio with plenty of natural light and canopies. Overall: Great place for brunch with a chill and relaxing vibe

11÷28÷15: Nice trendy, modern place to get some drinks and enjoy some American or Mexican fusion. Came here for brunch, and it was kinda a mixed bag – some phenomenal and some the exact opposite. Our server was particularly nice though. 1. Coffee $ 3 2. Bloody Mary $ 7: One of the better bloody mary’s I’ve had for sure. Nice and thick base, with tons of flavors. This ain’t straight V8 thank god. Great texture. Garnishes were nice but nothing crazy – the yellow beans were a nice touch. But man, love that flavor. 9⁄10 3. Wood Grilled Spanish Octopus(Salad) $ 13: Awesome salad. Unfortunately I can’t remember too many details except that the octopus was super tender and the whole thing was very flavorful and harmonious. Must get. 10⁄10 4. Veggie Quesadilla $ 9: AWFUL. I cannot stress how amazingly bad this was. A quesadilla must have stringy cheese. It’s a requirement. I dunno what crap they substituted here for cheese, but it’s utter crap. And all the other stuff just added some veggie texture but totally did not taste good. Severely underseasoned too. DONOTGET. 1⁄10 5. Pork Belly Chilaquiles $ 13: Not bad. My first time having chilaquiles, so I wasn’t sure how to eat it. Was kinda like soggy fried tortilla chips. I dunno, so I asked the waitress who explained the right way is to just mix it all up, but I should do whatever I like. So anyway, I ate it kinda like nachos. I did grow to like the fried savoriness of the chips with the sauce. The pork belly was fine, but nothing particularly special – I think they could have done more with it. And I don’t get why they just stuck one huge chunk of it there. I mean, I love big pieces, but I would figure it woudl be chopped up and spread around on the chips or something – that would make more sense right? 5⁄10. So we got awesome stuff like the Bloody Mary and Octopus Salad, but then we go that gross Quesadilla, and the so-so Chilaquiles. I’m tempted to give a 4, but the main dishes were the worst, so I guess… 3⁄5 #american #brunch #mexicanfusion #mexican

Parking: street parking. It can be a little tough since the streets in LB are small. Customer service: great! They are so nice and sweet here(‘: We went here for happy hour, M-F 3 – 6:30pm Me and my boyfriend practically ordered the whole happy hour food menu. Garlic & Parmesan parsley fries: good serving for $ 4. Fries are crispy, just how I like. Street tacos: their street tacos when I went were ground beef. I guess it changes every day or week because our server had to go to the back and ask what kind of meat they were making. Anyways, the street tacos were a disappointment.): meat was really dry and flavorless. They could have added sour cream or guacamole to it for flavor. But yeah I don’t recommend. -.5 star for the street tacos): Onion rings: we had to get onion rings to make up for the street tacos lol the only problem was that they were really greasy. -.5 star Other than that the serving was pretty good for $ 4! Their onions rings are really thick which I love, also you would thing it would be filled with batter and just bread because of the thickness but no not at all. Try their onion rings! Personal pizza — shorty 2.0: loved it! Didn’t like the blue cheese maybe because I’m not a fan of blue cheese. Short rib was good and I love the balsamic dressing they put on top! White sangria: great great! I don’t really know how to describe alcohol… Wait time: didn’t wait too long for our food to come out(‘: Interior design: sooo cute, got seated in the patio. They have heaters and blankets set out in the patio. Overall love the place, I will be definitely coming back but for brunch! Definitely want to try their frenchtoast !
