Dinner date with the best friend and we ended up here! Kristen was our server and she was on it! The atmosphere was great and so was the food. Sweet potato fries are the way to go when it comes to appetizers(be careful the chili flakes, makes it spicy) and the Chicken and Pear salad was yumm! Salads are big enough to share if you’re not super hungry.

Taven on 2nd is a cool hip-ster spot. Came in last night @ around 6ish. Kinda empty but gradually started filling in. Indoor & outdoor seating. When we came in we sat down & was told server was going to be right with us, after waiting 15 minutes no server, I was opt to leave but then Kristen came to the rescue. I’m not quite sure if she was assigned or just saw us two & felt the need to help us. Honestly service overall could have been better… I could say more. Ordered Allagash beer on tap. Simple light beer. Ordered sweet potato fries & got a chicken & pear salad. It was hot & I felt something light would b good after spending day @ beach. Their burger looks amazing but super thick patties. Salads entrée is big enough to share for two. Ambience is chill & fun. Cool lighting & wooden funk tables. Bill was around 32 $. 2 Beers. One salad one sweet potato fries. 2tvs up playing hockey. Cool I guess ill come back. But before I try a couple other places first then maybe…

Delicious bites, a good place to go if you want to share a few things between a few people or go ahead and order a main dish to yourself. Lots of great beers on tap and a decent selection of wine. Great service, both an indoor and outdoor seating area. We sat outside and it was nice to view all the action taking place on 2nd street. It was my first time visiting the Belmont Shores Main Street on 2nd, it’s a great place to go and Tavern on 2 was a great place for my first visit!

Holy moly has this place gone downhill. Food quality is WAY below par and almost always served cold. Yeah, it has cute décor, but there are plenty of places around, including second street that have the«gastropub» style. Seriously, if I see another exposed pipe, I will lose my mind. I wish they would do something that is original or even unique. It’s brown butter’ed everything and greasy as all get out. You want an extra 6 pounds of butter on your sprouts? Well, you’re in the right place. It is a uniform flavor palate, where everything tastes like it was prepared with the same ingredients. I have visited this place for the last time, but may come back for the bottomless mimosas on the weekends. Then, and only then would I ever walk over the threshold of this store.

Don’t Believe the Guy Fieri Hype! Typical you’re on a busy street in a cool part of town restaurant. The Menu was Mediocre. The Food was just the same. I had the fish blt it wasn’t bad but it could have been done better. The wife had the burger and that looked good. The kid had mac n cheese. that was delicious. I guess this is a spot where you go to people watch and enjoy the town. It was a one and done. Wont be back but thanks for the experience.

I was looking for a place to grab brunch with some of my friends and I came across Tavern on 2 on Unilocal. When I saw«bottomless mimosas,» I knew it was destiny calling out to me. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and on a day with great weather I suggest sitting outside because it will amplify your dining experience. For food, this is what we ordered: STARTERS: Wake-Up Fries* Tavern French Toast Short-Rib Poutine* ENTREE: Tavern Burger* Black & Bleu Burger Kung Pao Pork Belly Taco Rosa’s Chilaquiles* Benedict* (Recommended*) The Wake-Up fries and Short-Rib Poutine are a must try if you plan on coming here. The Tavern Burger is one of the more popular items and after the first bite you’ll already know why. Rosa’s Chilaquiles and Benedict are both breakfast/brunch items only served from 9:30a-1p on Sat/sun. The service here is fast, organized, and proactive. I want to recognize Walter for helping us out with our order and constantly checking up on us. Not once did we have to ask for refills for our drinks and that tells you two things:(1) Tavern on 2 will never leave you feeling thirsty and(2) they’re constantly watching you, so eat presentably(pinkies up!) PS: The bottomless mimosas are orange flavored and its 9% alcohol

If you’re reading this, it is probably one of the following. — You’re literally standing on 2nd street deciding on what to eat — You could also be in the Über(good call, cuz you know you’ll be drinking) right now wondering if you get some small bites, drink then dine, etc. — Perhaps you saw Tavern On 2 watching and broke out the google for more info Either way, good call, because you’re on the right track. Note that Tavern On 2 is described as a «Gastropub» now I don’t know about your thoughts, but my brain always defaults to «same hip food everyone is serving.» Don’t be fooled, Tavern On 2 has distinguished themselves from this overly generic term. This isn’t your hipster«comfort food», this is actual good food, well selected ingredients, properly cooked and full of flavor, not just salty or fried(don’t get me wrong, I actually own a deep fryer), but really savory flavor, you might even slow your intake to appreciate the stuff. I don’t recall all the dishes I’ve had here, or anywhere, nor did I take photos, but below are some of the ones that I enjoyed. — Crispy Brussel Sprouts, I know I know, EVERYONE has these, but not exactly, these guys don’t come served up on a pound of sugar, instead the sweet is delivered by green apple slices. I don’t even consider these part of a cheat meal. — Short Rib Poutine, while this item is listed under their appetizers, this is more along the lines of a cheat meal, in fact, if you just ordered this single item, it would be more than satisfying for an empty stomach. Sadly, you can’t do that, not because they won’t serve it you as a single item, but if you’re dining with anyone, they’re going to want to go in on it with you, you will be sharing. — Spicy Chicken Tortilla Soup, so good, just so good. This version of chicken tortilla soup is like Goldilocks, not too thick, not too thin, just right in regards to consistency. I like spicy and have moderate to high tolerance for it, I recall a slight kick, but nothing that had me sweating or gulping down more beer. Like others have mentioned, these folks only serve good beer and wine, no hard stuff. Is that a deal breaker? No, not in my book, but if it is in yours and you must have a drink, hitup one of the many bars on 2nd for a scotch, vodka, or mixer, then walk on down to Tavern. Once your meal is done, go back out and grab another. Enjoy!!!

We be grubbin’! I like to eat and I like good food… I’m that guy that will travel across state lines(even multiple ones) to hunt down good eats or go back to old haunts. The vibe here is easy… The wait staff is just right… And the food here is FANTASTIC. Pork belly tacos that actually are spicy and flavored beautifully? Check… Poutine? Check… Good beer? Check… I’ve never had a bad meal here nor a bad experience… And the patio seating is perfect for people watching. This is a total gem on 2nd!

Great service at 10pm! Alas, still. serving a full menu. I liked the variety of beer and wine. The Tortilla soup was thick, the way I like it. I think allowing the off-duty wait Staff to linger at a table next to patrons is is bad taste. I noticed that the On-duty waitresses would stop by and chit chat, and then take care of their customers. It was as if we were keeping them from enjoying their friends/co-workers.My waiter was professional and took care of myself and the tables around me. The music was much too loud, but I still like the décor and vibe here. I will return to try the rest of the happy to find a place I can visit at this hour.

Really solid spot. We got the Brutal Burger, the pig tails, and the duck tacos. The pig tails were a risk(I don’t even know what pig tails even are, and I don’t think I want to know), and while I don’t think I’d be eager to get them again, they were interesting and kinda good — sort of like a fattier/softer chicken wing or spare rib. I really liked the duck tacos though, and the burger was very good — very spicy and full of flavor.(Really, everything was full of flavor, even the chips and pickle that came with the burger.) If I have any complaint about the burger, it’s that I don’t think it was stacked particularly well — the bun is pretty large and the avocado wasn’t spread out, so it and the fried jalapeños kept sliding off the patty. Not a huge deal, since it all tasted great, but I think that’s an easy spot to execute better. Overall though, I really liked the food here.

My boyfriend and I came here on Valentine’s Day after walking past it plenty of other times while in Belmont Shore. We finally decided to come because this was basically the only place on second street that is completely dog friendly. A lot of the dog friendly restaurants on second street allow you to have a dog on the patio if it’s tied to the outside sidewalk. Tavern On 2 allows you to bring your dog inside the patio! That was the selling point for us. We didn’t have to wait at all and were seated outside. This restaurant only serves beer and wine, so don’t expect to order any cocktails. We got the mac and cheese and added the bacon and jalepeño to it, which is basically a must. It was sooooo good. I don’t know what kind of cheese was in it but it was all super delicious. For my meal, I got the Tavern burger and we got sweet potato fries to share. I would suggest getting a side for your burger, because they come with chips but they were pretty bad. They were really hard and flavorless, so it was a good thing we got the fries. This was a really good restaurant! If you’re in the area and are looking for a place to eat with your pup, I definitely recommend this place.

Been here a few times now, and I always think I’m going to be able to try more of their dishes, but I end up always getting the brussels sprouts and cauliflower. True, I like veggietables, but there’s something about adding an ungodly amount of oil, bacon, and saucy sauce to them that makes it so addicting. I think I tried the poutine and the bone marrow before, which were both as tasty as pure animal fat could be, aka pretty tasty.

We were in Long Beach on a spontaneous Sunday trip and decided to stop by since it was in the area, and also on the way back to the OC. I’ve been in this area before a few years back, so I knew how parking was. Luckily, as we were rounding the corner, a car was getting out of their spot, so we were lucky enough to find parking close-by. Paid-parking though, but it was pretty cheap. It wasn’t very busy so there wasn’t a wait. Service was a bit slow, though. Took awhile to get out order, and also in getting the check, so I ended up just giving my credit card to the server without getting the bill first, since it’d take another 20 minutes for him to come back and grab by credit card. Since it was a spontaneous trip, we weren’t sure what to get, so we went off of some Unilocal reviews. So we ended up getting the Tavern Burger, Tri-Tip Philly, and Short Rib Poutine. We got the Poutine first, and WOW! It was SOOOO good!!! The person I was with also agreed with me about how it’s much better than the one at Haven Gastropub here in the OC. Sooo good!!! Then the Tavern Burger and Tri-Tip Philly came out. I thought both the burger and the Philly sandwich were good, but the Poutine definitely took the prize for being the best dish that night! Flavorful, not so greasy, everything was just perfect! It’s a bit pricey, though, but it’s about average for gastropubs. All in all, I’d recommend this place if you want to try something different. I’ll come back if I’m in the area! I’ll DEFINITELY get the Poutine, and maybe something different. Maybe I’ll be able to stop by Brunch one day, since I keep seeing people rave about it!

This is one of my favorite spots in Long Beach. In fact, this was the first restaurant I went to when I first moved to the area last year and it hasn’t disappointed ever since. The menu has changed very little which I think it’s great. During my most recent visit I wanted to reward myself after a grueling 20 mile run. What better way to do it than with a burger? I ordered the Tavern Burger and added avocado. It was delicious and cooked perfectly. What I love the most about this burger is the perfect mixture of sweet and salty. I also replaced the chips that come with it with a side salad which was on point too. We also got the Mac N Cheese and Sweet potato fries to share and those two were incredible delicious. The fries were cooked to perfection and the Mac N Cheese freshly made and vey cheesy. I highly recommend trying those. Seriously, one of the best in LBC.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch. Parking ain’t that great so you need to find street parking. We walked up, gave our name and asked for a table of 5. They said 20 — 30 min because people were watching the games so just depends what time they get up and That’s understandable. Well 20 min went by and a table opened up in the front patio area. The hostess said that was our table but now we had to wait till she got the ok to seat us. She was told that the kitchen was backed up and party’s of 5 or more had to wait till she got the ok. So our entire party of 5 is waiting outside looking at our table as they seat 2 couples. Yup! That’s a total of 4 people but because they were in twos they got seated before us because a party of 5 had to wait. Give me a break! Anyway finally we got seated and ordered drinks and food all at once. I had the Tavern Burger that came with Brie cheese, caramelized onions, garlic aioli and greens. I ordered it medium and I have to say the burger was very good. I really enjoyed all the flavors together and meat cooked great and bread nice and soft. My wife had the crispy fish B.L.T that she shared with her mom. They both enjoyed it and said it was surprisingly good. We also shared tavern fries and short rib poutine fries. The short rib poutine fries were amazing with cheese curds and gravy can you really go wrong. Food was great and would go back to eat but second guess it because of the waiting to be seated because they were backed up. Next time just tell us it’s backed up and let us sit down at our table at least to have some drinks while we wait.

Best burgers around! I had the Black and Blue Burger and my wife had the Backyard Burger. We both agree they were the best burgers we’ve had in a long time. The meat was cooked to perfection, the bread wasn’t overwhelming as some places use a ridiculous size bun, the toppings were cooked to perfection like the caramelized onions, the blue cheese was great quality and melted perfectly. The bacon they used was great quality and cut thick, cooked perfect. The house made chips that was served with the burgers were salted just right because you can still taste the potatoes itself, they were cut and fried just right. Even the small yellow pepper served on top of the burger was not dried out and pretty fresh compared to what other places would serve. They have a great beer selection both bottle and tap. Staff was friendly and paid attention. The place is clean and organized. The prices are kind of on the high side for the burgers but that’s because you are paying for gourmet quality and freshness… something that is hard to find even at some high end restaurants that tend to screw up how food should be cooked. Definitely a fan, definitely going back, definitely a recommendation for anyone!

Visited this place with my heart set on one dish(short rib poutine) but quite naturally for myself, I went over the menu and made up my mind to order more plates. Call it the greedy foodie in me lol. First off, the plates are bigger and more filling than they appear. I was actually surprised at the portions because I truly thought these would be small plates. Big ups to Tavern on 2nd for this. You get your money’s worth. For the food I ordered the stuffed baby squid, the bone marrow and of course what I came for, the short rib poutine. The stuffed squid was simply delicious. On appearance at first, I thought how are they stuffed as it looked like a normal batch of fried calamari? But as I dug in, I noticed the larger pieces that when cutting into, oozed with chorizo. Good stuff and never would I have thought corn purée would be so good. The sweetness mixed well with the squid and chorizo. Next up was the bone marrow. What drew me to this was the fact that it’s topped with escargot or more so stuffed all throughout. It has a very strong garlicky flavor that you’ll get more so than the actual flavor of the bone marrow but nevertheless its an interesting spin on the dish. Last up was the short rib poutine that was as delicious as all the images I’ve viewed depicted. The short rib on this dish is well worth coming back for time and time again. Tender, juicy and flavorful is the best way to describe it and the cheese complements it perfectly. Tavern on 2nd is a cool place that just so happens to be located in between two of my favorite bars so they’ll be seeing my face again. Dinner 10/30/2015

So I’m surprised at myself when I say that I totally preferred the Mac n Cheese over the Tavern Burger I ordered here. Being the burger connoisseur that I am, I only found one small thing wrong with the burger… it was drenched a lil too much with the garlic aioli. Normally I don’t really mind that stuff and I didn’t want to send it back because it wasn’t that bad. Next time I know to request it on the easy side. I also added bacon and a fried egg which makes almost every burger taste awesomely insane. The patty was nice and juicy and every single ingredient pretty much made that burger even tastier. I also ordered their Mac N Cheese… hail to the mac n cheese gods… that’s all I have to say. I have not had cheesier mac n cheese in so long. It tasted like it was made in your own home. Cheesy… gooey…warm…and all those wonderful cheeses in one bowl! I’m definitely coming back just for that! Pretty friendly staff also. We got seated asap with no wait on a Friday around 8pm.
