As Greenville’s reputation as a foodie town continues to increase and gain exposure with a number of new high end culinary restaurants opening — one low-key establishment continues to out perform them all. Trattoria Giorgio is my favorite restaurant in Greenville. The décor and size of the place reminds you of a little neighborhood restaurant in NYC or Chicago. The servers have been there for as long as I can remember and will always provide a good recommendation on food and wine. The food is fabulous. Whether it is pasta, lamb or their fish specials it is prepared excellent and creative full of flavor. I can not get enough of this place.

If I could give a minus stars I would! Avoid this place unless you are running from zombies & this is the only unlocked door! do NOT go here!!! Terrible service, food was awful — neither of us got anything close to what was described on the menu or by the(snarky) waiter. Really, really, really bad. If this place is still open in 4 months I’ll be shocked. Go somewhere else unless you want poor, slow service & really lousy Italian food — the Olive Garden is even better than here!

Definitely my favorite Italian restaurant in town. Restaurant is small and intimate, has had the same staff for years. Food and service are both consistency and excellence. Can’t say enough about the atmosphere, I absolutely love how cozy and intimate it is. I suggest making reservations several days ahead of time.

Decent food, but poor service. Not sure sure it’s worth all the hoopla and certainly not worth the price. I’ve had better in Greenville.

This is a decent value because you get huge Amounts of Food but the food itself(and the $ 48 bottle of Italian barbera) were quite underwhelming. Not sure where all of the love for this place comes from.

Checked in at 8 pm for an 8 pm reservation. We were told that it would be a 10 – 15 minute wait. We stepped outside to wait. 10 minutes later a couple stepped in off the street and were being turned away when they were told to wait. We were watching it all. They were seated before us! When I complained, I was told by the manager that there had been a mix up. No apology. No offer of an appetizer or glass of wine-nothing but an attitude from the manager! Service was slow after that. We’re not returning. Extremely Poor customer service!

Nothing authentic about this place! Slow service and less than average meal. You can’t be a good Italian place if you don’t know how to make your own pasta or know how to prepare a fish dish!

Wonderfully average food. You can’t/ don’t make your own pasta is a red-flag. Thank goodness for a downtown location, because no one would drive to eat this boring fare/

Been here a couple times now and it is the best Italian restaurant in the area. The small restaurant reminds me of the North End. The food is amazing! My Dad had the Bolognese, which reminded him of his grandmother’s cooking(which must have been good I guess). He finished every last bite. The salmon pasta dish was great as well. Reasonable prices. Great place! I highly suggest it. My only complaint: The cheapest bottle of wine was around $ 40. I enjoy wine, but I would like to have a cheaper option.

This place is so delicious! I love this restaurant for all of their pasta dishes and their incredible lamb chops. They have a really good really authentic Bolognese dish. The restaurant is small you have to have a reservation 90% of the time. This place is a must for any Italian food lover.

Great smaller fine dining in downtown Greenville, Sc. Food is excellent and service is nice but not overwhelming. Small outside eating area great for spring and fall. Solid 4.0

Absolutely wonderful! Quaint little treasure hidden downtown next to Ale House with a great courtyard and fountain that helps set the ambiance. If you’re looking for a great date spot, don’t skim over this. Go for it, you won’t regret it. One thing that made our entire night special was our server Eddie. You really don’t expect too much from wait staff until they are either really awful or exceptionally great. Eddie was exceptionally great, and was a compliment to the dinner, not an intrusion like some waiters. He never interrupted our conversation to simply fill our waters and get his job done, but found the right intermission to slip in and serve with a great attitude and comments that were sincere and truly added to the evening. Very professional, and never rushed us to get through dinner even though we stayed well after their closing until we were the only ones there. The ambiance was really intimate, slow-paced, and relaxed. Our table was outside in the courtyard next to the fountain, and surprisingly felt isolated from the chaos of the regular Saturday mayhem just outside the fence at Ale House. With a subtle background music from a local jazz saxaphone player down the street and the water fountain trickling in the background it really set the mood for the night. Let’s talk about the menu. It’s a one-pager with some really great choices. I personally find the smaller selection to be a plus considering it takes most folks a long time to decide what they want. In my opinion, this keeps you from getting lost in variety and wasting 20 minutes making up your mind so that you can focus on what really matters during the night. I had the lamb and it really was great! We had the tirimisu and mousse al cioccolato(really rich dark chocolate moussee) for desert and it finished the evening nicely. Long winded I know. All to say Go For It!

Excellent food and hands down the best ambience of any restaurant in downtown Greenville. Great staff as well — always professional and welcoming.

The second evening in Greenville I was craving Italian. A colleague recommended a few places which were located on Main. It’s a small place, but very nice. The walls are exposed brick, high ceilings, and massive glass doors provide a nice view to the patio which is protected from the street by vegetation. I was alone and arrived around 7PM on a Thursday evening. There were no tables available, but the manager or owner sat me at a small bar which seat 4 people. The phone was ringing off the hook which leads me to believe reservations are tough to get on the weekend. The manager or owner was very nice and helpful. I started with the Affettato misto(variety of Italian cured meats). It was a massive serving of meats, olives, and veggies. Enough for 3 – 4 people to share as a starter. I had the Pappardelle Bolognese(pappardelle pasta with a homemade meat sauce) for my main course. The pappardelle pasta was perfect and the bolognese was very good… hearty, meaty but good. It’s a large serving as well, but delicious. I would definitely go back next time I am in Greenville and need an Italian fix.

Dined here last night for the first time. Good service. We had two of the specials not on the menu. The veal chop was fantastic but the rack of lamb was just average. Decent list of Italian and American wines. The lobster ravioli appetizer was also very good. Great ambience for a date night.

Hands down, our favorite restaurant in town(and we’ve been to them all)! Yes, it is a bit pretentious, but we love it. The two servers have been there as long as we’ve been going(8 years) and they know everything there is to know about the food and the wine. We love the lobster ravioli that isn’t over sauced and allows the lobster flavor to come through. My husband always gets the filet with balsamic reduction, I believe we’ve only been one time when it wasn’t offered as a special, and the meat is so tender you can cut it with your fork. I typically choose the lamb and completely disagree that it is veiny and fatty. I’ve only ever found it to be delicate and full of herbacious flavor. Yes, it is served atop a bed of mixed greens but also comes with their signature potato side and the vegetable of the day. The restaurant is small and reservations are typically needed because they will hold your table for you the entire night. If you walk in and see that there are«open tables» and you are turned away, that is because someone else has reserved that table for the evening and therefore when you walk in with a reservation you can be seated immediately. Other restaurants in town should take note of this, instead of making you wait 20 minutes to be seated when you have made reservations in advance. I can’t say enough good things about Trattoria Giorgia and the service and food they provide!

Nothing special, not the right price for the food. It’s a descent date spot, that’s why it gets some stars. If you walk a few blocks up to Bergamo what you get is much better.

I love this restaurant. It has delicious, authentic, high quality Italian food. The service is good. The wine is good. The outside patio is shielded from Main Street by foliage. Pros: caprese salad with buratta cheese, bolognese pasta, meat plate, romantic candle-lit atmosphere Con: it’s not always open, I think the owners take a couple very long holidays(1+ month each) throughout the year.

My husband & I just moved to Greenville. After reading the reviews we thought we would give Trattoria a try last night. We ordered the Caprese for our appetizer, my husband, who is Italian, didn’t like it. I didn’t mind it at all. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli appetizer for my entrée and it wasn’t bad, but I’ve definitely had better. My husband had the Bolognese and he hated it. I gave it a taste and it honestly tasted like hamburger helper. I liked the intimate atmosphere, but that’s about it. Not quite sure what everyone else is ordering but we won’t be back.

The Trattoria Giorgia is our little secret place downtown, or so we like to think. It’s fine dining at its best and the best Italian in Greenville. With only a few seating’s a night it’s best to make reservations but once your there, get ready for a wonderful dining experience. The Food: The food here is top notch. They start you out with some yummy warm bread and butter. The pasta tastes like it’s hand made and their secret ingredient must me love. The Pappardelle Bolognese is amazing and don’t forget to ask what the specials are because they are normally what I go for! The duck and beef are always good. I’ve never been disappointed with the food here. The wine list is also excellent and the Chianti is the way to go. The Service: The service we receive at Trattoria Giorgia is what I measure all others against, which really isn’t fair to any other restaurant. With only a few tables in the restaurant you’re guaranteed an attentive serving staff and they know the menu and wine list. I love asking my server what they recommend, they’ve never steered me wrong. The Atmosphere: Simply, elegant and romantic. Great date-night place or an evening with a couple of friends. You’ll always be able to enjoy conversation here because it’s not noisy at all. There is also an outdoor patio that is beautifully decorated and makes you feel like your no where near downtown. Overall this is one of my favorite restaurants in Greenville and it’s sure to be yours also. But it’s our little secret.
