Great food with generous portions, but poor service. They must never read their Unilocal reviews, considering every other person complains about the service. If they simply hired a dedicated waiter/waitress, it would make a world of a difference, but instead they have one(stressed out) person working the register and waiting tables. This strategy forced me to get up more than once to request water refills. Speaking of beverages, they could use a beer or wine on the menu. That’s just common sense.

This is actually my favorite place for afghan food. They give you free bread and the bolani portion size is very generous for the price. My favorite is the aushak which I end up ordering all the time! They also have very good kababs. I took off one star for the service which is quite slow at times. Skip the dessert here and get some yummy ice cream from the grocery store next door!

Very disappointed in this place. I usually go to De Afghanan but it was closed so I decided to come here. I’ve been here before but it was never this bad. First they take forever to get your order whether you’re sitting down or standing to place one. The lady in the front is very very rude. I wanted aush and she mugs and says«We don’t have any» In a very harsh tone. Then I decide to order a plate and she points at a sign saying no credit card under $ 20. Credit card and debit card are very different. Correct your sign. And that’s a horrible idea because not everyone carries cash. Lucky I had it this day. The food was okay, but service needs to CHANGEASAP.

The lamb chop was dry and overcook, a bit tough. Chicken, beef kebab and meatballs was good. Would still try the pilaf raisin rice beef next time.

I would give it 5 star but customer service wasnt that great. I ordered the lamb kabob with half brown and white rice, including the potato salad that they include, and also the naan bread. Food was really good, the lamb was cooked and marinated to perfection, it isnt like any other lamb kabob places i been to in fremont. Total came out to $ 13.25? I gave a 4⁄5 star because when i ordered through the phone, the girl or the cashier who works there doesnt seem to know what she was doing. And that day i was in a hurry thats why i ordered for pick up. So i ask the girl how long it will take and she said 10−15mins. So i waited for atleast 20 mins only to come there and was told that i have to wait another 20 mins. Notice: how i said i was in a hurry to get back to work… Overall, food is great. The place is extremely small. Service was not so good. But then again i will be coming back here for the food and hope that the service will be better.

I ate here long ago, then didn’t come back for awhile because the beef portions were a bit skimpy. Recently I patronized this place again to see if they improved. Their chicken and beef combo platter was pretty good. The chicken was amazing and the beef was really good too(but the pieces were a bit too small.) The rice, the bread, the salad, and the shokar narod(the chickpea potato salad) had good portions too. The chicken gyro sucked because they just pan fry the meat and add some spices to it. The chicken and veggie portion was good, but the flavor sucked. I was expecting kabob meat on it. Not this pan-fried BS. The meat didn’t taste seasoned at all. So disappointing. The lady working the cash register is so annoying. She half-joked that she should charge me extra for a 2nd green chutney sauce when I ordered the combo platter. Every time I ask her for an extra sauce she winces as if I just kicked her pregnant belly(she’s not pregnant.) I do not want to buy food from Maiwand Kabob ever again because of her.(I ordered take out those 2 times.) I should have ate here more often when the owner’s wife was working here. She was soooo nice, had a warm, inviting personality, and SUPER hot even in sweat pants. Hotter than their green chutney.

Amazing Food ! One star higher than De Afghanon restaurant. I did not have to wait long(compared to 1 hr wait at De Afgh) It’s a humble setting but great service and the food is more ethnic and original. Delicious! We ordered the manto– 5 star ! Chopan — 5 star chambli kabob — 5 star. Will def return here soon. Highly recommended.

This has been a long pending review. We have visited this place several times for their chicken kabab. Its awesome. We generally place to-go orders and they do keep the food ready by the time we reach there — which is the time promised while placing the order :) pretty happy !!

I noticed the cleanliness was an issue after I ordered the food and sat down at a table. I ordered the gyro with chicken but it was far from chicken, very gross and chewy. My boyfriend ordered the chicken skewer which was obviously chicken. I would not go back here because I didn’t feel welcome and she was very rude. My food was awful and the place was very dirty.

The food here is fantastic! We all really enjoyed it(Family of 6). The only issues I would say is they don’t turn the AC on so it is always warm, they dont the small etiquettes such as bring out water or plates. But my impression is that it is more popular for take out as I dont see many people dine in. It’s great food will come back.

This place is great! My buddy Muhammad took me here to try out the chicken kabob, he said it was the best — it sure was the best I ever had! It was tender and flavorful. I also had Bolani with the yogurt dip for the first time… and I also threw in some of the green vinegary sauce in there too… AMAZING. Being Filipino and having never been to a middle eastern restaurant before, I originally felt out of place, but the service was welcoming… and it helped to have my bro Muhammad there to recommend what was good. This place is definitely worth visiting!

The beef kebab was so tender that if the fluids in my mouth were strong enough, they would have immediately melted the meat. On a serious note, more meat would be better; the meat to rice ratio was not balanced as I had more rice left over after I had finished my meat. They were nice enough to feed a starving lioness(me) even though she(I) called in the order 15 minutes before closing. Major points for that!

Nerver again, here is why! We order ahead of time so it’ll be ready for Eftar. We helped out selves to set and asked the waiters to bring our food. No utensil on the table. Asked for some napkins. Bolani arrived and it’s cold. Then she brings the Qabeli. It’s from the night before. Meat is May be from 2 days ago. Kept asking for water and tea! She brings them after we finished. Chicken kabob was the worst one I ever had. Simply horrible food and horrible service. Cost us quite a bit. Never ever again.
