Before we get to the one star I would like to point out that the food is good(wraps) Cook is an easy going guy always has a smile on his face. Now why one star. The Groupon. Guys no one forced you to sign up with Groupon you chose to sign up with them to advertise your business. Its a low cost high return business model. The fact you do not honor your commitment to folks that purchased Groupon says alot about your business ethics. If you don’t want to honor the discount because of whatever reason you should offer to buy the coupon back from us and part ways respectfully. Disappointing and no we will not be back and yes I took the time to express how just rude your decision is to us the customers.

I enjoyed this place for sure! I went here for a birthday lunch date with my bff. We were originally going to go to Chaat, but thought we’d try something different. SOGLAD I DID. Very small inside space, so we out outside. The aroma of the food was amazing! We ordered the combo gyro(lamb & chicken) and my bff the lamb salad. First of all, they are very generous with the meat, they don’t rip you off at all. haha, we felt like we had too much meat, which in our husbands point of view, «GOOD! Why eat veggies?!» The only small gripe I had was very minor, because I didn’t have much tzatziki sauce on it, but I say that because it was scarcely delicious! I ate my gyro too fast so I didn’t feel to hot afterwards, but that was my fault. So we walked it off at Daiso :) I recommend this place for sure and will be a returning customer.

well the recent Unilocal reviews are correct, during ‘rahmadan’ they are claiming that this groupon is not valid, and said come back in July… I said, «you gonna do business like that?!» «you are not going to honor your groupon», guy said no, in July, he said during Ramadan we don’t honor it b/c we are busy. I said, ‘I’m the only one in this freaking restaurant right now, how busy are you?!” the owner stepped trying to convince me and said, you didn’t see the black out date on the groupon? I said«no» and she pointed at a sign that said order for rahmadan online… and that’s it. Then she says, «I’ve told groupon to cancel or put a blackout date,» like I’m suppose to believe that one. Well just not buying any of her«reasons» and giving my this is «bad business» face, she finally gave in and said, give him the order he is getting upset… Then I ordered and said, let me get some kabob plates, he says, «We are out of Kabos.» Gee how convenient… I order some other meat plate and left not wanting to stick around too long. I gave them 2 star b/c the food didn’t suck and it was a cheap price with the groupon, and they finally gave in after fought with them, so yes I am fair… It wasn’t «great» but was tastier than mc donalds. I’d rather go to kabob house for the non discounted price they were charging. I gave them the low rating b/c they tried to change the rules, blowing a lot of hot air at me.

Management and business integrity sucks. I wanted to get my mom a nice gyro because she just got out of surgery. I purchased their Groupon deal 15 minutes before walking through the door. While ordering, I mentioned my Groupon purchase, and the manager said they are«not accepting Groupon deals during(the month of) Ramadan.» My Groupon deal was going to expire in a couple days so asked him politely why the add was still up. He couldn’t come up with anything and slipped up by saying too many people already used the Groupon deal TODAY. How does that make sense especially when Ramadan started 5 days ago??? I understand you want to make a larger profit but take the add down if you don’t plan on respecting the purchase! The part that really gets me is he justified his actions by saying«we get enough customers already. We have the best food in town.» Not only is the statement false and narcissistical, it but made me feel disrespected and insignificant in his eyes. Still bought a gyro for my mom because I said I would and the food is good, but this place lost my respect and me as a future customer.

Ok so I’m done with this place. They have good food but the service is so bad that I just can’t justify eating here anymore. I have literally been coming here since I was 13 years old and now I’m just done, they need to hire better people to cook and run this place. The little Indian/Fijian guy is super rude and I don’t know if he has a lil man complex or what but he can not take out his anger on me. Also apparently they do not accept groupon during Ramadan which btw is not said on the fine print. They have to accept them and they refused. They even refused to take the groupon if I ordered pick up from Unilocal and yet again it doesn’t say anything in the fine print(this was before Ramadan too) so we had to pay separate. I’m just over it and I’ll make sure EVERYONE knows how bad this place is, that’s how bitter I am towards their service!

My Groupon was expiring so we decided to come here to grab food to go for dinner. The place is super small and that day extremely hot! It was kind of nasty too the cashier was sweating balls and had no hair net or anything… he was running back and forth between their«kitchen» and the cash register so who knows if he was handling the food. I tried not to think too much about it. He seemed very stressed out and rushed us through our order. I warned him of my food allergies to dairy but I didn’t leave too confident that he had noted it to the chefs. Once we got home, we noticed that we were missing the Fries that came with the Gyro that we paid extra for. Instead they gave us a huge box of their«Greek Salad» which was basically lettuce and some typical salad veggies. We could barely taste their lemon vinaigrette dressing so the salad was pretty dry. I ordered the Beef Combo which came with rice, hummus, pita bread and their Greek salad. The beef and rice were both way too salty and I just didn’t bother to finish the other half of it. I would have to say their best thing off the menu we ordered were the Dolmas. Sooo good compared to everything else. I should’ve gotten another order because one order just came with 3 pieces. I probably won’t be getting another Groupon for this place, but if I knew better, I would’ve just used up the entire Groupon on all Dolmas lol.

Very slow service even while not busy and with 3 staff. On top of that, EXTREMELYRUDE. After waiting almost 30 minutes for my food, I wanted to check if everything was there before I left and they just kept rushing me out. Have given this place multiple chances and have experienced disgusting customer service each time. Never again.

We were delighted with our experience! The woman at the cashier was helpful and answered any questions we had. We had a Groupon — caution: could only be redeemed via phone instead of printing it. Which is okay, considering we are a technologic world now-a-days! We had the gyro sandwich and gyro plate. The sandwich was good! Loved the flavor of the meat and the texture of the pita. Altough, there didn’t seem to be enough tzatziki sauce in the sandwich… Paired it with fries – this order is enough for one person. The gyro plate was good too! Also, enough for one person. The salad and 1 pita for this wasn’t anything special. The pita for this wasn’t as large and was flat. But liked that enough sauce came on the side. Again, a huge fan of their gyro meat! Overall, liked the food and enjoyed eating outside!

3.5 stars. Was a bit disappointed when seeing that it is actually a hole in the wall place, and how small that iconic Turkish donor thingy is. However, the kebab and gyro are really good! Portions are big and price is cheap. Now I know how the lamb on the donor rotisserie tastes. Definitely a place to grab some quick eats when in the vicinity. While the cook was great and attentive(weird huh), the guy at the counter is not pleasant, my tip was for the cook.

Gaters is a must-try! I personally love, LOVE, middle eastern food, and so I’m always trying new middle eastern restaurants. While I’m by no mean an expert in this particular cuisine, I can honestly say that the food here is absolutely drool-worthy. Normally I get the gyro wrap, and I think it’s a fail-proof choice for those not familiar with this cuisine or not sure what they want. However, this time I decided I was craving some basmati rice and so went with the chicken plate. The chicken plate did not disappoint! The chicken was packed with flavor, the basmati rice is fluffy and perfect coupled with the meat. The HUMMUS, house-made, fresh, no preservatives(seems like), and all-around perfect. For the gyro wrap, you can order it with a side of fries for an additional charge. Although fresh, they can sometimes forget to include it with your order(happened twice to me now!) Service was very friendly and fast. The restaurant space is on the smaller side, but kept clean. Have been coming here for a few years now, will continue to be back as long as service, food quality/portion/price stays reasonable!

There is very little indoor seating(only two tables with four chairs that were taken) so my girlfriends and I had to resort to outdoor seating. –steak gyro: really juicy with warm pita bread but missing white sauce –chicken and lamb Schwann combination plate: chicken and lamb were too dry and lacked flavor –lamb wrap: lamb was already dry but wrap made it even more dry since there was no sauce to balance it –French fries: Nothing special about typical frozen packed fries –pistachio dessert: dipped in pure sugar which made it too sweet, so couldn’t really taste the pistachio itself. ***All of us specifically asked for no onions but all the items came with onions. When we told the cook, he rolled his eyes and glared at us. Not coming back.

Friendly staff. I had gotten the combination plate which had sliced(steak/lamb/chicken) meat, rice, yogurt, cucumber salad & pita bread. The meat & rice are super flavorful. If you spend over $ 15 you get free hummus & one piece of pita bread. The hummus is okay, you can definitely taste the chickpea. Honey got the chicken kabob, his chicken was flavorful as well. Only«complaint» I have is that the pita bread was cold, if it was toasted or warmed up that would’ve been a 5 stars on my list. Overall I would definitely be back for their combo plate, super yum!!! & honey approves!

The food was so good, service kinda lame! Walked in and they were cleaning instead of asking what I wanted to order, so I needed to wait about 5 mins for them to recognize I was there. Luckily I had a groupon, so it wasn’t that irritating because of the deal I was getting. I ordered the regular falafel wrap and a side of hummus. Both were perfection! I needed a side of hot sauce though, one was free, the other was $ 0.50 :/hopefully next time I venture in the service will be better. The food however, was perfect.

Seems like this place has been around forever and I’m just now getting around to trying it. Redeemed a groupon here which came out to about half off with purchase of $ 20. I didn’t have any expectations so was pleasantly surprised! Everything was so good! Sis and I ordered a chicken wrap with fries, side order of falafels and a lamb/chicken combo plate to share. The portion sizes were pretty big and the the meat was well marinated and delicious! I heard that they do make anything spicy so will have to try that next time. It was quite packed at lunch time(maybe 5 people in front of us) but the line moved pretty quick and the food came out just as quick. Also, the woman taking orders up front was super friendly. Will definitely have to go back.

I used to loved this place as well, but this place has gone way down. So disorganized and no communication or ticketing system. Just yelling the orders out with numbers and then yelling the order for any random stranger to grab a paid order. I don’t know how many times they had to remake an order because they gave it to some one else. We ordered 2 lamb gyros with fries & it over 30 minutes to get our order. Not only that, but the meat was cold. The meat wasn’t heated all the way through. I should have known something was wrong was the owner & the cooks pronounce it a «gi-roll» instead of a «year-roll».

Always always and I mean always! double check your orders !! 5⁄5 times I’ve came, I always leave with something missing from my order. Last few times, I was able to catch their mistake from giving me the wrong order to forgetting my combination wrap, but this time I had to rush out and trusted that they got it right — especially if the woman manager(owner) shouted my order to them 6 times. The time, they forgot to include my side order of fries that I paid $ 2.77 for AND my order of combination plate and combination wrap with extra meat turned into just regular orders of chicken. Even if they ran out, I would’ve appreciate it if they had told me. –1 star for the mishap of orders –1 star for the chaos of shouting and screaming workers

Gaters USED to be good. I’m not sure if its under new owners or what but I went in earlier this week and was dissapointed. I ordered the chicken gyro to go and sadly there was very little chicken in it, it was cold and sloppy! In fact I never ate it. The guys seemed rushed off their feet there and there seemed to be very little organization or communication between them all. Sad to give a mediocre review because I like to find something good in everything but sadly on this occasion I can’t

Very small family-run joint located next to the PetSmart and Aniki’s Sushi on Mowry. A few tables inside, but taking your food to go is probably a better idea. The combination plate with chicken and lamb shawarma is served with rice and salad, with a generous portion of meat, sliced from the the rotisserie and then grilled to heat and for that char. Efficient service.

Unfortunate. Went here on the suggestion of my Wife and other Unilocal reviews. 1.) Guys were rude when I ordered. 2.) They did not honor their Unilocal check in offer.(First time ever i have encountered this) 3.) I ordered steak & lamb gyro plates. Meat was cold and not freshly sliced when i ordered. They literally pulled it from a cotainer and placed it on the grill, and still didn’t cook it enough to warm it up. Meat was also chopped so much it resembled almost a ground beef. Out of 4 full plates ordered($ 40) only contined maybe 10 slices of meat?. Hard to really tell if the food was well seasoned with it not being warm or fresh. Perhaps I got them on a bad day. Dunno. But dissapointing. I have for sure had the same type of food prepared better on many other occasions at many other establishments… It will take an act of sheer will power to return…

This place is amazing!!! At first, when I called them to make a reservation, the owner made sure I get a seat by the time me & my friend got there.(As this place is really a «to go» sort of place.) This place is really small & has only maybe about 5 tables inside, 2 or 3 tables outside. I say, «so what?» When I got there, I told the owner who I was, and she made sure I got a seat as soon as a table of 4 was available,(as I was about half an hour earlier the time I told them I’ll be there.) Man, is the owner amazing. She’s like superwoman! She’s like doing 1 billion things at once. Even though it was packed around that time(7ish) she helped every single customer to the fullest & made sure we all knew about the combo specials. Which, my friends & I had. The combo I had came with 2 kabobs;(1 lamb, 1 chicken.) It also came with basmati rice, hummus, pita bread & mediterranean salad w/cucumbers, & tomatoes.(YUMMY!!!)(It also comes with onions, but I asked not to put that in my plate.) One of the cooks was so nice, he gave me 4 pastries, an extra side of hummus & pita bread for FREE! This place is definitely somewhere to go if you’re picking up to go, and it gets really packed. Very popular. They also have Groupon & Unilocal deals. Definitely a place to go to if you feel like Mediterranean food. MUSTGO!

Not good anymore. Ordered lamb wrap during a quiet afternoon. As soon as I took a bite, all i got were mostly wrap bread. Not much meat. Oh well there are plenty of other shawarma places around anyway. In addition to being a hole in a wall, this place is quite unwelcoming.

This is just the quintessential hole in the wall restaurant. Small, family owned, superb food. I went with three work colleagues after work to eat. Thought it was a normal sized restaurant, but found out not. Unless you are a hobbit, it’s cramped. The line to order takes most of the space. Perhaps two tables for two and one for three. Perfect for us. This is generally just a take out joint. I had a wonderful lamb gyro. Perfectly cooked and long baked on one of those rotisserie things only true Mediterranean meats are cooked on. The fries I got were well cooked as well. Definitely coming back.

My friend and I were looking for a deliciously affordable lunch delight and since she is a Fremont resident she said Gaters was the spot. I ordered the garlic chicken wrap with fries. Highly recommend! Every dish is cooked so quick and favorful. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Hot Tip: Make sure to ask for the white sauce. Maybe even extra! It is insanely tasty.

I just realized that I have never written a review for this place. I get to-go from here at least once a week. Love the combination plate. The wraps are good but almost a quarter of it goes waste as the ends have no fillings. The kitchen staff is good(actually they are both the kitchen and wait staff– and sometimes manage the cash register too) Got few complaints– 1. The lady at the counter(think the owner) is extremely pushy. She hardly lets you talk. Pretty annoying 2. They need to work on cleanliness. Sometimes the work area is very dirty– especially the floors that are almost always greased and yellowish. They need professional cleaning once in a while(ps: the staff does a good job of cleaning the kitchen area and that’s the only reason I keep coming back. But it’s high time the cleanliness spreads to the whole establishment. 3. They charge like a proper restaurant yet serve in paper plates. Also same rates for lunch and dinner is not cool Being lenient with the ratings here as I love the food. But if management does nothing to address the issues the next review will show the appropriate ratings

This is a small but decent restaurant with items like hummus, gyro, kabobs, etc. It definitely feels homey and I don’t recommend bringing in a large party since there’s very limited space. I thought my gyro rice platter was good. The meat was flavorful and slightly crispy. The meat went well with the tzatiki sauce on the side. The yellow rice was good as well. I was less of a fan of the salad because it had a ridiculous number of chopped peppers and I don’t like chopped peppers. The hummus was okay. I didn’t like the pita that came with it. It was probably storebought and very thin and dry. I would have preferred the fresh fluffy kind.

Oh man Gaters. So delicious. So cheap. But yet, so gross sometimes. Let me elaborate. So this has been me and le fiancé’s go to spot lately — we live right down the street. And the combo plate, gyros, and anything really is insanelyyy delicious!!! And cheap!!! But the last two times we were there, hygiene related things happened. The first time, a nasty long hair was right in my food. I asked if I could get another one, and dude looked like the world had ended from my question. The second time, they weren’t sure which order was mine, so dude went poking through my food with his bare hands to find out. If you’re gonna touch my food, please have a glove on. Or at least do it behind the counter so I can’t see. Bottom line, I want to go. But I just don’t want to repeat these experiences.

Pretty good steak gyro. Nice mild flavors. Good balance of flavors. I changed my thoughts about hummus after having their hummus. Overall not bad. The hummus and steak gyro could have used a bit more salt. Although the flavors were good. I was searching a little for a bit of salt. The hummus was good it changed my opinion of hummus. But I had to add a bit more paprika.
