Kazzoo’s in Japan Town was once my favorite spot. I tried Aniki’s a couple years back and there was no looking back! This place blows the rest of the Sushi spots out the water. I like the Facebook, Instagram, OMG, Aniki’s ultimate, Korean Short Ribs, Tuna Steak, Savs roll, Udon bowls. I want to try the Uni next time I’m there. The wait is long because the food is good and people want to sit and enjoy their food. I usually put my name on the list and walk over to Big 5 to browse for 15−20mins. The wait is normal when you go here so be prepared. It’s well worth the wait, IMO.

Original Review: Now that I had sometime to cool down. This was my first time dinning at this restaurant. Upon arrival I was told that the wait would be 20 – 25 minutes and we were a party of 3. A couple of smaller tables opened up and of course the smaller parties sat. About 35 minutes in we see the first booth on the right getting ready to leave. As they are leaving, a group of 4 ladies came in. Every single server came and gave one girl specifically a hug. You can obviously see they are«mutual friends». My husband looked at me and said«want to bet they get the next table?» Behold, in the next minute or so that booth opens up and the lovely 4 ladies get seated. I am a women of principles and morals. The whole waiting area is packed and these ladies that just walk in get seated automatically. What a royal treatment. What was sad was all the other parties noticed what was going on, but no one had the courage to speak up. I walked up to the hostess and informed her that I knew those ladies had just walked in. She was quick on replying«they have a reservation». Then I said I thought your policy is you don’t take reservations for parties under 6? She said«yes, your correct but the manager just told me, I’m sorry.» I then told her that wasn’t acceptable and that the manager can come see me. I see her approach her manager who obviously can read on my face, that I am not too happy. The hostess then returns to me and said that«you are the next table.» We finally sat after almost 40ish minutes of waiting. When we sat the server was being friendly and honestly I was still heated from what I just witnessed. I am pregnant and was so hungry. I finally started thinking more clearly after cooling down, I started to enjoy my first time at Anikis. Besides all the drama that welcomed us, the food was pretty good. We ordered the spicy edamame, Asparagus wrapped in bulgogi(I forget the name), OMG roll, Anikis Ultimate Roll, A Sashimi platter, and Hamachi Kama. Everything was on point and delicious. My favorite was the Hamachi Kama. During our last 15 minutes, I noticed the manager sat at the booth right beside our table. In my mind I was wondering if he would acknowledge me. I mean I was pretty upset and I did request to speak to the manager. As, we get up to leave I was holding two to-go boxes. The manager goes«ma’am… would you like a bag?» I seriously in my heart got excited, but then I heard his question. I kindly said«no thank you.» I was a bit surprised that, that’s all he had to say to me. As a manager it is your responsibility to ensure your customers had the best experience. This was his one chance to make things right with me. I wasnt looking to get free food or anything. I just wanted him to take responsibility and man up. You are the manager of this establishment. You are responsible for every customer the moment they walk in to the moment they walk out. UPDATE: After posting the review, one of the owners of the establishment reached out to me. He was kind and wanted to get the full story from both sides. He took the time to listen to me and definitely cleared the air. I know sometimes things arent as they seem and every story has two sides. Since the manager didnt speak to me, I didnt know their side but now I do. He is the definition of a true and honest business owner. Because of him, I will definitely give Aniki’s a second change. :)

Taste was really mediocre. Every sushi had some kind of hot spice or sauce to cover the taste of the fish. Taste Quality was bland — for the sea steak, the texture of the fish was rough and bland — i felt like i was eating rubber.

I really like their OMG Roll! For the most part I get a chicken teriyaki bento box with sashimi and a roll or 2. I like this place, but not a place I come to unless I get dragged here. Service is a hit or miss. Sometimes its great, other times not so much.

Even though Aniki’s Sushi isn’t considered fine dining or Michelin-level sushi, the value you’re getting out of this place is unreal. Each time I’ve been here the sashimi and sushi is very fresh – you can tell that they don’t use old fish, and the cuts are expertly done. I’m a bit of a picky eater when it comes to sushi(my philosophy is to eat good sushi or don’t eat it at all), and am willing to spend a lot of money to get good sushi, but Aniki’s rivals many, many of those places and even beats out some of the more expensive omakase I’ve had in Seattle and SF. Would definitely recommend any of the sashimi combos or the uni nigiri, which can be served with a quail egg.

Ok food but horrendous service. The place is always crowded. Not because there are a lot of people lining up to eat here but because the restaurant is TINY!!! So it looks crowded all the time. Not enough staff to pay any attention to customers and very very rude and unfriendly staff. We ordered some food for my 2 year old and requested that to come out fast. It came out LAST. Ridiculous!!! I would rather go to Miki Bistro. This place is absolutely the worst! Not coming here anymore.

I used to love Aniki’s. Great sushi but definitely overpriced! My friend & I had dinner there today, after we paid our bill we were finishing up our rolls, we were getting kicked out by their«manager» because there were«people waiting». Wtf?! We are paying customers and have the right to be there how ever long we want! I’m definitely getting my sushi & sake’s somewhere else!

VERYFRESH fish and high quality food! But, the service is meh. GO before 6pm to avoid waiting for a table. Expect the place to BESUPER busy after 6pm(your waitress won’t be as attentive when the place gets busy. Although there’s a HUGE parking lot in that plaza, parking can get crazy and you might have to park pretty far from the restaurant. PROTIP: Drop a person off at the restaurant to grab a table, THEN look for parking on your own. Save time! CHECKINON Unilocal for a free apertizer!

Finally, I have found another sushi place in Fremont where I can satisfy my constant sushi cravings. Aniki’s Sushi has TONS of sushi rolls, and from what I’ve tried so far, they’re not bad! I ordered the Lion King roll, which has crab and avocado on the inside of the roll and salmon, tobiko and green onion on the outside, and the Charlie Chaplin roll, which has shrimp tempura, cream cheese, crab, avocado, and spicy tuna on the inside of the roll and hot sauce and mozzarella cheese on the outside. The Lion King roll was tasty, but the salmon was a bit chewy and didn’t taste fresh, but I would order it again. I did not like the Charlie Chaplin roll however as there were too many flavors going on and they didn’t go well together. The cream cheese with spicy tuna and mozzarella cheese seemed to battle each other, as they are all strong ingredients, and mixing them together in one roll just did not work. I would not recommend the Charlie Chaplin roll. I’ll be back to Aniki’s Sushi to try out some different sushi rolls, and here’s hoping that I find some gems during my next visit!

Definitely one of the better sushi restaurants in town. It isn’t a high end sushi experience by any means but for a local sushi joint this place fits the bill. The restaurant itself isn’t huge. The décor is nice and the rolls are on the same level as other good local sushi restaurants. The price points are a little higher than other local places but that can be attributed to the better ambiance and the awesome job of marketing they do. I’d say definitely try it. I had the Instagram roll and Charlie Chaplin roll and both were good. Post a pic on instagram and get a free edamame or seaweed salad!

My visit to Aniki’s was below average. I went on a Saturday night when it was pretty busy. There’s really no great place for people to wait to be seated, so everyone kind of lines up against the wall a few feet away from seated guests, basically staring at them. I went outside to avoid this. They offered a free appetizer with Unilocal check in, which unfortunately did not include the calamari. I went ahead and got the calamari, which ended up being disappointing. It was previously frozen, heavily breaded, tough, and chewy. Calarubberi. The sushi menu is photo-based with what seems like an infinite selection of rolls(why would a chef do that to his/her self?). If you don’t arrive with a fairly certain idea of what you want, expect to spend an unreasonable amount of time neglecting your company to pore over the Neverending Story of sushi menus. I finally decided on the Pixie Roll. Hopefully it was an isolated experience, but the cream cheese in my roll was in huge, hot gobs. If done correctly, cream cheese adds a nice creaminess to sushi, as you well know. When it isn’t, it’s gag worthy. I could only stomach about a piece and a half. I elected to try the strawberry mochi ice cream for dessert(I know, at this point why???). The ice cream in the center had a great flavor, but the mochi was way too tough and had a bizarre aftertaste that I equated to licking the inside of a freshly opened tennis ball can. The staff was friendly, but the service was incredibly slow. They were very busy, so I will give them the benefit of the doubt there. Sushi isn’t a food that you would typically associate with strong odors, but when I left Aniki’s, my shirt smelled like deep fried dog farts. Seriously, I had to crack the window on the way home(daters beware). Aniki’s is a very popular and busy place that I hope is better than my experience overall. I can’t in my right mind recommend it, but genuinely hope your experience is better than mine should you decide to do that to yourself. Good luck.

WELOVEANIKI’S! It is our go-to sushi restaurant whenever we want something reliable and super delicious. I had been battling an intense sushi craving all week, so my darling hubby decided to surprise me with a Thursday night dinner date right after he got off from work. Of course, the drive was horrendous because many people were making their drive home, but thank goodness for carpool! Aniki’s is located in a roomy plaza with some random stores nearby like a Petco, Baskin Robbins, and FedEx. The restaurant itself is quite small so you don’t get a lot of room between tables. They do have booths, but considering how crowded they get, they normally reserve those for parties three or more. The bar is designated as a first-come-first-serve basis and makes for the best spot to eat, drink, and watch whatever game that may be playing. Even on a Thursday night, there was still a wait to get a table, but we wrote our name down and walked around for about 15 minutes before we were called in, so it wasn’t too terrible. Upon checking in on Unilocal,we were offered a free appetizer, but only a few options were available like edamame, the seaweed salad, and some other simple dishes. My hubby loves edamame so that was an easy choice. For our rolls, we got the OMG, which is one of the cooked rolls with fried lobster pieces, avocado, and tuna, as well as the Fremont 5 – 0, a special roll with seared salmon, fried squid, seaweed, and a spicy mayo sauce. Every table is served a complimentary crab salad with cucumbers, panko crumbs, and mayo which is surprisingly quite refreshing and light. I love the crunch of the panko and creaminess of their special house sauce. Aniki’s serves their edamame with salt and my hubby goes crazy for those. Sometimes, he eats them so fast that when I go to pick up some, I only get empty shells! He gets a kick out of seeing my flustered reaction every time though(LOL)! Our rolls came out next and they were beautifully plated. Most of Aniki’s rolls are GIGANTIC so they are most certainly meant to be shared, and considering all of the sauce, they don’t really need to be eaten with soy sauce either. The OMG roll is littered with crunchy, savory pieces of fried lobster that can honestly do major damage to our waistline, but they are just too delicious for us to care. Each piece is drenched in a tangy, sweet and sour sauce and the fried skin is perfectly crispy. Underneath is the typical sushi roll with crab, avocado, and tuna, but its simplicity is elevated thanks to that sauce. It’s no wonder they call this roll OMG! Absolutely mouth-watering! The Fremont 5 – 0 isn’t as cooked as the OMG roll since each sushi piece is wrapped in a lightly seared salmon, but it is the squid and seaweed on top that really set the roll apart from any typical roll. Even without the creamy mayo sauce, the roll is quite flavorful, thanks to the savory toppings and salmon that pack quite a punch. I personally loved the citrus-y undertones that gave the roll a distinct, fresh taste. Two rolls might not sound like a lot of food, but boy were we stuffed. There was just no room left for anything else(besides boba of course, but that’s typical for us, or rather me). Prices at Aniki’s are a little higher than some places, but the flavors are really worth it. Their service is incredibly friendly and you may even meet the owner since he frequently walks around to help. Yes, the wait can be long, but honestly, for good sushi, shouldn’t that be expected?

My friend and I were on the way back from shopping when she looked through Unilocal and found this restaurant. They have free parking in a lot right outside their restaurant and weren’t busy yet when we arrived. We were seated right away and given a complimentary seafood salad. It was a nice refreshing starter to cleanse the palate. Checking in on Unilocal,we were able to get a free appetizer so my friend chose the Japanese nacho. I normally don’t eat raw fish but this was done really well. It’s spicy tuna, sauce, avocado and green onions on tempura shiso. There were two so we each took one and its best to eat in one bite if you can. I ordered the OMG(oh my god!) roll and my friend ordered the Lion King roll. Her roll came first in an aluminum boat. She thought it was really good. My roll came and I was surprised how much food was in it. The was a good deal of tempura langostino which is like lobster but it isn’t a true lobster. The blackboard in the back of their restaurant explains the difference between lobster and langostino. By the end of the meal, my friend and I had to push to finish our meals. I would absolutely come back and try other menu items. We didn’t experience the issues with being seated or served like others have mentioned in their reviews.

My wife and I have mixed feelings about Aniki’s. On one hand, the rolls are really good for the most part. On the other hand, when you leave, you smell like food, to be more specific, fried food. Not sure if it’s a ventilation issue or something, I don’t know. But back to the point, the rolls are really good and they have a nice selection of sake to back it up. The service is good for the most part, sometime’s it lacks, but usually it’s good. I haven’t been to this joint in quite awhile, a visit is long overdue. I’ll make some time to come back and give an updated review.

I don’t remember Aniki’s Sushi being open for all that long, but it has already earned«Best Sushi Restaurant in Fremont» awards for a number of years already. Even though there aren’t that many sushi restaurants to compete with Aniki’s to begin with, I decided to come try this place anyway. My eyes were set on the Chef’s Special(Omakase), but according to the waiter, they ran out of uni(sea urchin), and several other fishes, so that was sorely disappointing. So instead, I ordered the Mission Peak roll($ 12.45, only got it because Mission Peak is basically my weekend home), and one of their newer rolls, the Charles Woodson roll($ 18.45, only got it because I’m a huge Raiders fan). The Mission Peak roll is essentially a California roll with tuna, sake(salmon), ebi(shrimp), and tilapia on the outer layer of the rice. One of the great things to note here is that all the fish tasted really fresh. There was absolutely no odors on any of the outer layers of fish I peeled off to try separately from the roll(which means I must amend my previous review of Fuji Sushi because I did smell a faint smell). Color was nice on all of them as well, especially the tuna. However, I did not care for the tilapia, which nearly broke down on me upon grabbing it with my chopsticks. Perhaps that was how it was supposed to be, but I thought I could do without it for future references. But overall, I enjoyed this roll. However, the Charles Woodson roll was a mistake I’ll never make again. It is essentially a gimmick roll, a roll that tries to stuff too much flavor and fried stuff and grease that just wasn’t for me. The inner part consisted of shrimp tempura, cream cheese, jalapeño, avocado, and spicy tuna, while the outer part had salmon, onion, green onion, bacon bits, and 6 different sauces drizzled all over the roll. They tried to put too much onto the roll that it was just a mess of flavors and tastes, and the greasiness of it put me off to this roll. I don’t know if the retiring safety for the Oakland Raiders knows of a roll that is named after him, but I’m not sure if he would be down for it either. I’ll update my review iff(if and only if) I am able to bring it back to basics and try their Chef’s Special.

Came by for an Americanized Japanese-like dinner the other night and the experience left much to be desired. There was a 20 – 30 minute for a table at 6 pm on a Sunday evening. The Caucasian host was courteous and helpful when he showed us to our table. Experience started off with a complimentary crab salad which was a mix of cucumbers, fake crab meat, and bonito flakes… sort of an odd combination. Ordered a side salad and miso soup which they didn’t charge for. The miso soup was severely watered down and the side salad was decent, although mostly consisted of lettuce… The Japanese nachos were the highlight of the meal and they also comped the item even though we didn’t show the waitstaff the Unilocal check in. It was a tempura leaf over a mix of spicy tuna. The OMG roll that Unilocalers were raving about was an absolute disaster… it was merely a bland California roll with fake crab meat topped with tempura Langostino lobster… The unagi don was also a disaster with a huge bowl of sticky rice that didn’t have enough sauce along with a half dozen pieces of very thin unagi slices… something found from a grocery store?!? …definitely not worth the $ 26… Service was mediocre by the staff as one of the waitress were quick to inform us that she wasn’t our waitress but would do us a favor by putting the addition to our order… ~$ 27/person after tax and tip

We came on a Friday night around 6:30 and had to wait about 30 minutes. Luckily, they were having their sake for $ 2 the whole night! Zesty Salmon Roll: My favorite roll out of the ones we got! It had the perfect amount of zestiness from the lemon and the perfect pop from the jalepenos with sriracha! And all of this on top of salmon! How can you go wrong with that?! Adrian Spice Roll: What really stood out was the unagi paired with jalepenos! Can you tell that I love that spice?! I forgot the rest that we got but I know they were good! Don’t forget to check-in to get a free appetizer!(only the ones on their list)

Although I just wanted to crawl into my bed and crash for the rest of the night, my early birthday celebration a couple of Sundays ago continued with dinner at Aniki’s Sushi, one of Fremont’s better Japanese restaurants. Head pounding and stomach uneasy from all the food and drink I had earlier in the day, I really wanted something hot and soupy(i.e., udon) to overcome this dreadful feeling, but also ordered additional items because, hey, that’s how we ROLL and we’re celebrating my birthday, LOL! Being that it was Sunday evening, Happy Hour is all day on Sundays. Just what I needed, sake and more beers(fortunately for me, no sake bombs). The menu is expansive and a bit overwhelming, especially their list of rolls, but I managed to pick a few to my liking and several other items(I usually go for rolls that have raw fish on the inside and try to avoid ones that have fried tempura or crab salad(unless it’s real crab) as the interior as I feel these are just fillers and a waste of money, including deep fried ones). Food of the evening was as follows: 1. Japanese Nachos — Tempura shiso(traditionally Japanese mint leaf but unsure if it truly was) with spicy tuna on top, small avocado chunks, drizzled mild orange cream sauce, and a sprinkling of chopped green onions. Surprisingly, this was a great appetizer to start the evening. The shiso was crunchy like a potato chip and the tuna was fresh and seasoned/spiced nicely. Very addicting and wanted more. I will definitely order this again. Check in on Unilocal and you can get it for free! 2. Teriyaki Chicken & Chicken Katsu Bento Box — Your basic Bento box complete with a heaping scoop of rice, salad with Japanese miso dressing, miso soup, California roll(big and meaty; avocado fresh), Teriyaki chicken(nicely grilled, juicy, sweet from the sauce), and chicken katsu(it’s usually prepared with pork, but we were allowed to substitute with chicken; golden fried and moist meat) 3. Tempura Udon — The udon had a nice, slippery, thick, and chewy texture(it’s the worst when it’s overcooked and mushy). As for the broth, it was hot in temperature(with a hint of the sea) which was what I enjoyed and helped sooth my stomach on that cold night, but the flavor was a bit heavy on the soy saucy side and I wasn’t impressed with the floating carrots and broccoli either. On a brighter note, the few pieces of shrimp and veggie tempura that accompanied the udon on the side was fried nicely with a crispy crunch(I could have used my soup as the tempura sauce, LOL). Would I order this again? Most likely not, and I don’t think udon is Aniki’s forte, but at least it served its purpose and helped me recover that evening. :-) 4. Salmon Roll(Sake Maki) — No frills no thrills, simple at its best. Nice, fresh chunks of salmon with rice well seasoned with the right amount of vinegar. These tiny morsels were pretty good with just a dab of wasabi on each(no soy sauce please as it just kills the entire experience). 5. Volcano Roll — Tempura onion, crab salad, and spicy tuna on the inside and salmon, tobiko, and chopped green onion on the outside(along with a mildly spicy orange cream sauce and sweet teriyaki glaze of some sort). Lots going on here and I felt that there was too much clashing amongst all the ingredients. The name«Volcano» was an understatement to me, and instead of having any heat or spice to it, the roll itself was sort of a dud and lacked the eruption I was expecting(the accompanying wasabi was its saving grace). Although decent, this roll will probably be the first and last time I have it unless someone at my table really wants/orders it. That said, there are many more rolls to explore… 6. Silva Roll — Hamachi and creamy avocado on the inside and more of the same hamachi, tobiko, and chopped green onion on the outside. Hands down, this was my favorite roll and meal of the evening and blew my expectations! The hamachi wrapped inside the roll was huge with generous portions of the fish. The meat was so fresh, succulent, and naturally sweet, and to be layered with even more pieces of the fish just put this roll over the top. I didn’t even use any wasabi because I only wanted to taste that hamachi in its natural state and appreciate its sweet goodness. This roll will definitely be on my list to get again, and as a hamachi lover, inspires to me to order nigiri and/or sashimi À la carte of this beautifully flavored and time-honored fish. Aniki’s staff members here are awesome, cheerful, and work really hard and efficiently(especially since the place is always so busy and packed). They provide excellent customer service, are attentive to needs/requests, and do everything with a smile. It’s a very warm and welcoming environment here which is one of the reasons(including the delicious food) that I know will draw me back to Aniki’s in the near future. Come on out and check out one of Fremont’s finest!

Just love this place!!! Dined here for dinner yesterday and we(myself & the hubby) had a fantastic time. We usually wrap up our meals quickly from any restaurant, say less than an hour or an hour maximum, stepping out completely satisfied [depending on the experience ;) ]. But, trust me when you’re here, you’l never feel the clock ticking at all and we took 2 hours easily(excluding our wait time)!! This restaurant is super busy on Friday evenings. We had a long 45 minute wait time but still decided to stay back to eat in here as it was highly recommended by one of our friend living in Fremont. Well, it was totally worth it! We just got perfectly indulged into some of Aniki’s special Japanese dishes & Sushi rolls. It was sweet of them to offer a cup of Hot Jasmine Green Tea to all the people waiting outside. Appreciate their efforts to value every customer. I would consider this as a fairly small sized restaurant with around 13 to 15 tables from the look of it(I say small here because of the large crowd but less occupancy facility). Ambiance is simple, cute & decent. Because of the heavy crowd, we were offered seats in the ‘Sake Bar’, which turned out to be an absolutely great choice, as one gets instant attention from the hostess and also gets to custom make their sushi rolls or drinks directly, one-on-one with the staff at the bar. Our hostess was ‘Ali’. She was very sweet and patient enough to explain me the authenticity of every food I ordered [couldn’t help being more curious as I was a 1st timer getting introduced to Japanese cuisine: P, what did I do all these years not trying? I know ;) LOL! ] Our VEGETARIANPICKS from the menu, 1. Spicy Garlic Edamame — comes as a Free Appetizer option(from 3 other options) when you Unilocal check-in, a good soybean munch! 2. Vegetarian Rolls — Chose two, Avacado Maki(cute little thin rolls) & Veggie Tempura Roll(big, thick & flat rolls). Both dishes tastes YUM when you have it with soy sauce, ginger & wasabi paste. 3. Vegetable Udon — it’s a big bowl of hot & flavorful soup with chewy noodles served with extra salad. It tasted good too! 4. Dessert — Fried Banana with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream(Chocolate syrup and whipped cream topping). Aaaaahhhh! GREAT as ever!!! We paid 31 $(excluding tips) for above, which is very reasonable according to me. Quick Tip, Unfortunately they don’t take prior reservations during weekdays and they do bend a little bit during weekends for a minimum count of 6 people.

Freshest to the freshh seafood? Check. Great old school classic pop jams, i.e. non-stop MJ from the Eighties? Check. Friendly warm super-nice super on-top-of-things waiter? Check. Omakase that rox my sox? Check. An insanely good sushi and sake house, Aniki’s fires on all cylindres, and everything at dinner was fantabulous. Serving aaa-grade fish delivered five times per week– triple-a being highest quality freshest of fish available on the market– is highlighted in Aniki’s omakase. First of all, miracle of miracles, they had mirugai(geoduck clam). Well. some type of giant clam sashimi that as far as I can tell, WAS mirugai. Aaaahh! You don’t understand. I haven’t seen mirugai in years! An elusive, seasonal, near impossible to find item, it’s become my holy grail that I’ve tired of asking about when dining at sushi-ya. I was absolutely thrilled and delighted at this surprise in the Omakase here. The creative fun presentation show-cases each item in its own little section. Thick generous rich hefty slices of fish including salmon and halibut(hirame), were coiled and layered and made for enjoyable de-constructing and eating. Uni, luscious creamy and plentiful, were in a hollowed lemon quarter. Beautifully opaque Mirugai was expertly sliced and arranged in flower shape. There was also an outstanding nigiri: double-stack of unagi and mackerel(?) bundled with some watercress and a thin jalapeño slice. Phenomenally fresh, every single piece of seafood. Seaweed salad, daikon and shiso leaves plus a parsley forest took up the rest of this platter. Japanese nachos were a nice appetiser: shiso leaf tempura’d and topped with spicy tuna mix, avocado, sauce and green onion. Soft shell crab roll and six-piece Negihama(hamachi and scallion) roll kept us busy until the main arrived. Nori around the hamachi was quite sturdy and thick. Six pieces of deep-fried crab wrapped in with avocado, tobiko sprinkled on top, held together pretty well. A bowl of miso soup with just the right salt level, and iceberg red cabbage and carrot salad in mild dressing precedes the chef’s choice Omakase. Enhancing any stellar sashimi and sushi meal exponentially, has to be good sake. Aniki has a bomb selection and even offers samples of ones you want to try! I’ve heard of free beer tasters at pubs, but free sake?! Suhweeet! A richly aromatic«Winter Warrior» by Yoshinogawa was the ideal junmai ginjo to pair with omakase. It boasts lush guava, mango, apple and pear notes. Though I haven’t mastered the subtleties of sake, I do know what I like, and Winter Warrior is it. Don’t forget dessert. Aniki doesn’t slouch on that either. Guava cake, accurately listed on menu as «Delicious Guava Cake» doesn’t sound like a Japanese dessert. But no kurr. get it, even if you aren’t a cake person. It is truly *that* yummy. No surprise Aniki’s was voted Readers’ Choice Best Sushi of Fremont 2013 through 2015. If they keep up the quality and service, many more years to go. Order the right stuff(hint: omakase), and you too will have a superb meal. Fremont. Who knew?
