Almost can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place since I live up the street and come here all the time! What can I say? I love this place. I get my halal meat here, my veggies, my yogurt, and most of all… the hot fresh bread! Spices, tea, and sweets… rice, bologna, hotdogs… henna even! Plus I love family owned neighborhood shops and small businesses. They have an old school kind of charm that other places don’t have. Definitely a staple in my book.

I’ve been a customer for years, I come with my family or sometimes I take it out to go. I like all of their dishes, but my favorite is beef(tikka kabob). The best in the area by quality and price. Their chicken kabob is juicy and the bolani is the best. Their hospitality is 7 star I can rate. They make the best chutney(green hot sauce with vinegar, cilantro, pepper, garlic, and spices), which is the only restaurant that doesn’t give me heartburn. I wish them the best and success as I’ve been a customer for 10 years of this fine restaurant. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves healthy, fresh, and delicious food that is cooked to perfection daily.

It is a great place to buy Persian food. They bake authentic«barbari» bread for $ 2. You’d better buy a few, cut them in small peices and store them in freezer. Then whenever you want to eat, warm then up in toaster. They also sell fresh Halal meat and poultry. The meat is the best I have ever eaten. Madjid, the shopkeeper, is very nice gentleman from Tehran.

Afghan bread FTW!!! You get this HUGE piece of berad for $ 2 and you feel super cool getting it because it feels like a shady transaction for bread. You hand the guy at the front counter $ 2. He gives you a coin. He points to the back of the store. You hand the coin to the guy chilling in the back. He goes behind another door. He brings back your bread. Not sure why we had to this, but it was all worth it in the name of the bread. Sooooo delicious and sooooo ate all two loaves in a matter of two days(carb overload!). Can’t wait to go back to get more and have another shady transaction!

Best place in fremont if you ask me. Produce are fresh. People are extremely nice. The store has been there for over a decade. Bread is delicious. The meat is halal and always fresh! I wouldn’t shop anywhere else.

I went to this market and it was a different experience. They had many different kinds of food that I had no clue about, but it was interesting learning about another culture, and I also found something to buy in there. It was some fruit, cant go wrong with fruit lol.

Stopped in here for some Halal meat and groceries. Ordered 2 lbs of lamb(very tender meat), a whole chicken cut up in pieces and 2 lbs of ground beef. All that meat for under $ 30 — which is pretty good price. I also ordered white flour, but they ended up giving me wheat flour. Other than that it was pretty good service and prices. Small place, but they got fresh afghani naan as well. There is a kabab place right next door(but I didnt try it out). Friendly service.

Stopped in for a small bag of delicious Turkish pistashcio’s. It’s a small store that is packed with Afghani groceries and other imported items.

Second time to Damavand Market. The store is small, but carries lots of Middle Eastern items. I got: Sadaf special blend tea w/cardamom flavor — box of 50 tea bags All Crust Pocket Bread Pita Bread distributed from Union City — 6 in a bag for 99c S&W garbanzo beans in a can for 90c.(Note to self: Costco sells them in a case, don’t buy them here). Lord de Pastry Baklava $ 4.99 a box — not my favorite. To try next time: Roat«cookie bread» — left side of register Halal chicken — there’s a butcher in the back Afghan sweet called«shir-para» — a kind of cooked milk fondant with ground walnuts, pistachios and cardamom. Total $ 15.86. Credit cards minimum $ 10. Small parking lot in front, some residential street parking nearby. 37012 Towers Way(@ Thornton Ave), Fremont 510−793−2606 Hrs: 9a-8p

Have been buying the Persian style flatbread here for maybe 2 years now and the owner(I think he is the owner, man always at cashier) is super nice and friendly. I purchase only the bread about once a month and although I am often the only non-Iranian or Persian customer in there, he remembers me and even remembers the number of breads I usually buy. The price has gone up $ 2 per bread, but I think its still worth it since its always fresh. I personally like the ones with the seeds on top.
