This place used to be our favorite; however, we’ve had bad experiences at the Clinton Park Café as of late. We’ve tried to give this place a couple of opportunities to redeem itself, but today was the end of that. This afternoon, my husband found a long hair inside his buttermilk pancakes. It was discovered as he was chewing his food. The whole experience was absolutely disgusting! When we approached the owner about it, he made it seem like we planted the hair! The nerve of him! Needless to say, we will NEVER eat at this place ever again! If you are looking for a clean place that doesn’t cook hair in its food, and doesn’t look to place blame on its customers for their own shortcomings, I suggest you dine elsewhere.

Basic diner. Rather than a lengthy review, simply do yourself a favor and walk over to one of the numerous choices on Myrtle. If you go here, I recommend keeping it simple.

We were looking for something cozy and these beautiful spots have popped up all over Clinton Hill, Mikes around the corner was packed and it wasnt even 10 am so we strolled to this one small diner across the street from Pratt Institute. We arrived and were seated quickly as the man behind the counter pleasantly yell«you can sit anywhere.» The coffee was warm and strong, my omelet was dull and average, the home fries were wonderful, and the juice was fresh. The service was slow, friendly but slower than molasses in December. I saw my server twice, once when he took the order and when he delivered breakfast. My bad, three times… he refilled our coffee once. The atmosphere was cheerful, a wonderful diverse mix of the changing neighborhood. The eighties light rock music was particularly cool, most if not all of the patrons this morning literally sang softly in unison along with the eighties soft rock band«Journey» as we sipped and gazed into our warm coffee cups. I’m hoping the slow service and the over cooked Western omelet was a fluke. Next time I will order bacon, you can never go wrong with a crispy slice of bacon.

Food was okay — very low temperature when it reached the table. Was not impressed with our waitress as she wasn’t very prompt. May try them again — would recommend going early as they run out of things like bagels and grits.

Perfect little neighborhood greasy spoon. Enjoyed our weekend breakfast but really nothing to write home about, as my grandma would say. Looks MUCH cuter on the outside than it is on the inside. I’m sure we will be back due to convenience and their foods ability to battle a hangover!

I have to say that this is by far the best place to grab a bite to eat. The customer service is impeccable, food is great, and really inexpensive. I will definitely be returning.

Stumbled upon this play in route to Mikes across the street. Where we parked we passed by here first and decided to see what they were about. Glad I did! Food is so delicious. Perfect diner-esque food I had been craving for. A plus they serve pancakes, which is my kids go to meal. Surprising many of the newer styled restaurants have moved away from pancakes for«artisanal» French toast . Food is really delicious each time I go, I try to get something different to be a fair judge and I have to say no complaints at all. The employees are also really nice and accommodating.

Right across from Pratt! Awesome little diner with some good grub! The owners at this joint know how to run a good business! Serious. All yall other restaurants take notes. They have solid food with great prices and decent portion size. Their owner and waiters are some of the nicest people around. They’re really down to earth an full of energy. Unlike other restaurants they let you take time with your menus, but definitely don’t leave you hanging for a while. It’s typical diner food but it’s good pricing and service. Sometimes they just hit you up with stuff on the house. I really enjoyed their omelette and fresh squeezed orange juice. Their turkey sausage is spot on too. Overall 3.5 rounds up! But the service hands down 5!

Much friendlier than at Mike’s across the street. I only wished they open later than 8 pm

This place is all around great! The food is diner food, but obviously freshly made. My family and I have enjoyed almost every breakfast item on the menu. The boys are big fans of the pancakes and French toast. I have really enjoyed the omelets and eggs florentine. Good coffee, but the daily fresh squeezed OJ is better. The service is as good as the food. The wait staff give personal attention to everyone and always are friendly. Definitely worth your time.

Pratt Quick Lunch Price is higher than other places nearby and there is no comfortable place to wait while your order is filled: call ahead.

Been coming to this spot pretty regularly for a few months now. Best for breakfast — Mexican Omelette, Spinach & Feta Omelette … you can also create your own. Love the grits and the fresh squeezed OJ. My fav for lunch — Chicken Chipotle Quesadilla(digging the chipotle mayo) or a grilled cheese w avocado and pesto… sweet potato fries… get the oreo milkshake, you’ll lose it. Love the coffee — it’s my go-to in the morning. All the desserts come from Dough! Love the doughnuts! If you’re lucky on the weekends, Tony will be your server. He’s super friendly and kinda adorable…

Been here 3x for breakfast. Amazing orange juice. Coffee is delicious(many people come in here just to get a coffee to-go). I’ve had pancakes, an omelette, and eggs over easy and all have been delicious. Because of the friendly workers here, I now pick this place over Mike’s.

Yummy place on Hall st… Great spot for bfast. Haven’t had lunch here yet but the service and food is grrreat. Although I am not a coffee drinker, this place has great coffee. Always clean and service is always fast. Everyone is so friendly and i have no complaints. Prices are decent. Feta spinach omlete is delish and my fav. I think it’s definitely better then Mikes down the block. As soon as I walk in they know what I drink and how I like it. Love it!

I liked this place. I don’t go here anymore, but that;s only because I’m so far away from it. I used to come here all the time though when I was a student at Pratt. The waiters here were so incredibly friendly. The food was usually good, nothing special, but it was good comfort food. I also really liked the milkshakes they made. It was just a nice spot to hang out and relax after a long day of classes. I sure do miss coming here though. If you’re in the vicinity, you should check this spot out.

It was early Saturday afternoon, and work was being done on my apartment, so I swung by Clinton Park Café to get lunch. When I arrived, I was asked to take a seat, and then promptly forgotten. After 10 – 15 minutes, a waitress asked if I was being served(«no»). I ordered an omelet and coffee. They had whole wheat toast, which is a plus. The food came out quickly, but by the time my mug ran dry, I’d been forgotten again. I did the whole head-bob-and-scan routine, looking for my waitress.(«Hello? I exist! I think.») It was a very long time until I saw her again, and I had to explicitly ask for a refill. The omelet was completely ordinary but cheap. The coffee was good enough. Keep in mind, this is one of those diners where they give you the tiny plastic tubs of «jam», which is mostly high-fructose corn syrup(no hate, just saying). So if you like ordinary food and being ignored, go here.

Pros: — conveniently located near Pratt — clean(although I did not check out the bathrooms, so can’t comment on that) — reasonably priced — decent coffee — takes credit cards Cons: — service leaves MUCH to be desired — overcooked eggs(which is incredible considering mine was the only order going in at the time) — they don’t take Amex Verdict: If you’re in the area looking for a casual diner breakfast and time is not of the essence, stop by. But I wouldn’t go out of my way!

I’ve been coming here regularly since they opened and I have given them chance after chance and as of today, I am DONE! They’ve been open long enough that they should have their act together at this point. Not only did they mess up our orders, my friend was one of three people still waiting for their food well after ordering it. Our waitress made no effort to fix things.(I sent my salad back. They halfheartedly fixed it but it still wasn’t right) It is much crowded over at Mike’s because I think others have realized the same thing. Mike’s may not have any many snazzy options but the service is friendly, fast, and consistent. Boo Clinton Park Café. Get your damn act together! ETA: Despite the still mixed reviews about food and service I recently went back with a friend who works in the area. The service was much more consistent in a good way and the food was prepared as it should have been. I still wasn’t wowed but it wasn’t all that bad either. Still, I wouldn’t go out of my way. This place is beautiful and cozy with some very nice employees but they really need to step up the menu and offer consistently good service. Otherwise people will just continue to swing by Mike’s.
