This is my favorite breakfast spot! The price is reasonable and the food is great. They give you nice size portions for the price and your food is always hot and prepared to your liking. A must visit! Sometimes you have to wait to be seated because it’s not a big place, but it’s worth the wait.

I would come here for breakfast or lunch after a long and tiring allnighter at school nearby or after a lecture/class before the next one starts. It can get really busy and crowded and it’s not the biggest of spaces in there. However, they try to seat you quickly. The waiters are considered nice compared to the ones at nearby places. The food comes out quickly after ordering despite the amount of people ordering to eat there and to go. The food here is fairly priced and definitely worth it for what you’re getting. Would recommend this if you’re in it for some quick, cheap and decent diner breakfast/food.

2nd time coming to Mike’s and I haven’t been disappointed. One week I had the chicken & waffle which was good. My BF would say GREAT! I has the steak & eggs this week and it was another hit. Quick service. Not a long wait for the food. Might become a regular… :)

Been here a few times recently and always been solid. Great prices, casual diner environment. Quick service. Not much else to say. If you’re craving a diner this is it.

Whoa, what a classic Brooklyn diner. Booths and speedy service and all the basic sandwiches and egg things you could want in a place like that. Classic prices too if you know what I mean.

Awesome no nonsense no frills breakfast spot. Service is adequate and really fast. The atmosphere is a little loud and chaotic, but that’s because tons of tables are packed into this tiny place and the kitchen isn’t completely closed off. They turn around the tables quickly, so even if there seems to be a lot of people waiting(which there usually are), we’ve never waited for more than 15 minutes to be seated.

I have been coming here since I was a little girl. The trek from Long Island to Brooklyn was always worth it. I’ve had a number of breakfast items and lunch as well. There is nothing on the menu I wouldn’t recommend. It’s casual and typically crowded but the service is always prompt, fast and they don’t make mistakes.

I got the number 2 and the home fries were kinda not great. Otherwise, simple yet good breakfast food.

Solid little dinner for quick easy brunch. Had a Western omelette, no peppers, sub mushrooms. Was perfect. My friend had pancakes and sausage. Generous portions but not overwhelming. Would def return!

Classic neighborhood diner! Yummy pancakes, delicious corn beef hash, crispy(but not too crispy) home fries, friendly service(+ includes coffee refills). Convenient for me since it’s right around the corner. Ideal Sunday breakfast for two!

Found Mikes through Unilocal while in the area! Was all I hoped it would be. We were eating within ten minutes of sitting down! Everything was fresh and delicious! Definitely worth a trip back.

Mike’s is a classic old skool greasy spoon diner. No frills, just good food. I’ve been coming here since the late 90’s and it has not disappointed. You would run into anybody back in the day from Rosie Perez, Spike Lee, Isaiah Washington, Malik Yoba, Mekhi Phifer, the Wayans Brothers, Foxy Brown to the Notorious BIG. Obviously this was pre-gentrification. But, regardless I still highly recommend it if you’re looking for diner staples at a reasonable price.

We came here right before the late Saturday lunch crowd and snagged a booth. We had the chicken parm & spaghetti as well as the triple decker pastrami sandwich and both were quite good and just the right amount of food if you’re hungry. This place is small but not cramped(just don’t bring a big group), and you can people watch from anywhere you’re sitting. Prices are fairly low for the the area and proximity to Pratt and fancy brownstones(many of the plates were below $ 10) The bonus? Everyone here was super pleasant; the people waiting for tables didn’t seem grumpy about it, the staff didn’t have the surly attitude you’d expect for an old-school(cash only) Brooklyn diner, and a lady who had water accidentally spilled on her jacket was good natured about it all. I suppose a place like Mike’s just brings it out in everyone. Be nice and enjoy your meal.

For several years running now this is hands-down my favorite diner in Brooklyn, in New York, in the United States — on Earth. Friendly service, decent unassuming greasy food, fantastic grits. Today I flew in from LA to Newark and have 6 hours before my next flight to Geneva, Switzerland. So what do I do? B-line straight to Brooklyn and to Mike’s Coffee Shop for a cheese omelette.

This is a typical NYC old school diner. It’s older than dirt, has no cell phone service, laminated menus, and is a cash only joint. Diner was clean, staff were friendly, and the food was good. That’s what I like to call, the restaurant trifecta. I ordered breakfast and it came out fast and piping hot. My waitress was professional and friendly and made sure everything was ok. One thing that upset me was that they don’t have espresso. That’s the only thing that can keep me going in the morning. Other than that this place is ok in my book.

I love Mikes! Small, greasy, and a diner the way they used to make ‘em! Don’t be mislead by the word«coffee shop», this isn’t your Williamsburg hipster coffee joint. In fact, I’m not sure they even have a latte on the menu! Instead, they serve, good, wholesome diner fare, great coffee, and in a real diner environment. Their eggs are good, their bacon better, their bran muffin even better than that, their pancakes legendary, and their French toast is officially on the menu for my last meal on this Earth! Absolutely nothing fancy, but oh, so tasty! The service is prompt and good, without being gushy. Even why I accidentally ordered something that I didn’t like(totally my fault), they exchanged at no cost, without making a lot of fuss about it. This is my regular Clinton Hills spot for breakfast, and I recommended it with passion to anyone going here. Do expect to be busy, on weekdays and weekends alike, but again, service is fast and most people here have places to be(it’s not a brunch place, after all), so you won’t have to wait too long for a table. Do note that they have a «2 guests minimum» rule on their booths. And seriously, try the French toast!

Was so excited to try this when I walked by and saw the menu and the food! Was a surprising let down for the following reasons: They didn’t serve chicken n waffles at the time I went. Instead I ordered the fried chicken. The fried chicken was only four pieces. We couldn’t have a half order even after asking. The chicken was dry. The fried skin was ok. I’ve had better. The Ruben sandwich was soggy and not the best I’ve had. It was served open faced and topped with cheese, which I couldn’t taste. The service was mediocre. I really wanted to like this place but wasn’t worth it. The place was nice too, just didn’t get a great vibe or experience.

Finally — I’ve discovered my greasy-spoon go-to of the Bed-Stuy/Clinton Hill neighborhood. Mike’s is everything I’d hoped for in a neighborhood diner. Quick, no fuss service, delicious, no-frills breakfast, and coffee that keeps on coming. These guys have Sunday mornings down to a science. For my first visit I tried the corned beef hash and eggs — over easy with whole wheat toast slathered in butter. Boyfriend had steak and eggs, which seems to be their staple, and we ordered a side of crispy, fatty bacon perfection. Pro tip: cash only, but there is an ATM right up front.
