Only been a here a few times but it seems like a nice place. Awesome environment. Friendly Staff. Efficient Staff. Decent beer prices. Pretty good burger. Awful ribs(seriously, don’t even bother).

Old School Bronx Bar! Went hear to meet a buddy of mine, Danny G. and some of his friends to watch BIGBLUEWIN! Surprisingly, I enjoyed it. Being Albanian, it was Great to go to somewhere in the Bronx that was not infested with Albanians! Can’t wait to go back and watch Big Blue beat Green Bay!!! GOBIGBLUE!

A local bar filled with a friendly atmosphere of nearby residents and lots of regulars. A good variety of Drafts to choose from, plus a real Steak Sandwich to satisfy your craving with a side of mash potatoes and gravy.

Went to the Ale House with my new gf. Just to hang out before heading downtown. Really nice décor with old collections of posters and stuff. I had the crab cassarole for appetizer, WOW fantastic. She had the French Onion soup, she said it was really large and fresh tasting with a lot of cheese. Of course i had to try the corned beef and cabbage That was really good, the portion was crazy large. My gf had the Sizzling Steak. I tried a piece at it was made just like she ordered(Medium) and it was really juicy. Missed the live music, but I would go back just for the food.

Good neighborhood bar. I enjoy it here as they have on all the major games. I don’t like the fact that they charge people a cover when there is a band playing. I can understand it though but I won’t pay to enter a bar in my neighborhood where a band plays. The food is good. The service is great. I’d give it a 3.5 stars but it could easily be a 4. I enjoy the atmosphere because everyone keeps to themselves and you have no problems here.

This should really be more like a 3.5 star rating. Paddy Doherty’s was actually a rather pleasant surprise on a random Thursday night. My boyfriend and I arrived around 7:30pm(with a few Dogfish Head IPA’s in us already) and the place was packed. There was a good mix of different age groups for this section of town which in other bars tends to house primarily 50 – 65 year old men. Some larger groups, some families and lots of couples were scattered about. We were greeted rather quickly and were happy to hear they had Sam Adams Summer Ale on tap. I mean it’s not like I’m doing backflips over a Sam Adams, but I’ll gladly take that little nuance as compared to the rest of the Bronx’s standard beer selection. The menu consisted of pretty standard pub fare with some extra specials and dinners. We started out with a dozen of the Thai Chili Wings which were just okay. The sauce was way more sweet than spicy which was disappointing but the fry job was solid. Also, it may sound weird, but I was really happy to taste that the blue cheese dipping sauce actually tasted like blue cheese! Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t incredible, but it was refreshing that upon tasting the dip I could actually TELL it was blue cheese instead of trying to figure out if it was some sort of other bland ranch or just plain mayonnaise. As for our meals, my boyfriend ordered a roast pork sandwich with melted mozzarella and an aus jus dip. It was really tender and the roll was soft and chewy although the flavor was not very bold. I’d order that again. I instead ordered a chicken caesar wrap that was packed full of chicken and a rather meager amount of warm lettuce. I found it really sketchy that there was a huge croûton in my wrap… did they just dump someones old salad into a tortilla and serve it to me?! Both of our sandwiches were accompanied by a huge mound of crispy shoestring fries that went down way too easily. The best part of this experience though was that around 8pm there was a great live band who set up playing mostly classic rock covers. They really gave the place a fun vibe and were talented guys overall. All in all, I am glad I finally tried this place, it’s one of the better options for a younger crowd in Throggs Neck and I will definitely be back!

This place has a buncha harddons, which is a compliment. Im not a fan of the use of the word ale house, but I am a fan of the attention from overweight desperate apartment-basement in house-wives. One of the best Bronx bars– no, Not bars in Bronx– Bronx bars– Its a big difference. You see, a Bronx bar is different from its counterparts in Queens and Brooklyn… It is usually a place where people of all ages intermingle, and unless you’re in Woodlawn, many races as well. Tip the bartenders early, and you will be rewarded with free drinks often. If you look and act like you are very white, the Bronx white kids will think you are from SUNY Martime or you are a nurse… beware. And the burger platter is the size of the original SEGA Genesis.

Good, spacious bar with a jukebox(always a plus) that serves one of the cheapest beers I’ve come to know in my drinking years. I caught up with so many high school friends here on a single night than the amount of people I hung out with in high school. Laid-back bartenders who are more likely friends of other friends is a common occurrence so it’s a comfortable seat at the bar. Came here for some late night extravaganza. Heinekens and a few Black Label shots later and I was on my way to a sunny night.

good bar food: fish and chips, crab casserole, awesome burgers. i’ve had hit or miss nights here. the staff is bipolar, sometimes friendly, prompt and making generously portioned drinks, other nights the staff makes you wait a half hour to close a tab and your gin tastes like a whole bunch of leftover, clear well liquors mixed together in a beefeater bottle. also, it’s probably the priciest bar of this style in the area… for inexplicable reasons. the alehouse part of the name is also misleading, they have a pretty poor and overpriced selection of beers on tap and bottle. so i suggest grabbing a table, sticking to beer, eating what’s good, paying with cash and then moving on to a cheaper, livelier, friendlier local dive, especially if you see that awful DJ setting up.

Paddy Doherty’s has a lot of space and the drink prices are okay. My friends and I just felt incredibly out of place among the crowd of people our parents’ ages.
