We’ve come here many times with the boys — it’s a family favorite. Plenty of choice for them and us! I like the recent Spaghetti Squash Bolognese — it’s great. The Tuna app, ask for it on cucumber, it also great. For the boys, its a mix, but the Buffalo Chicken and Barbecue Chicken pizza’s are the unique favorites in addition the the Joe Schmo!

I don’t often write bad reviews… But this place was terrible. Ordered same menu items as in Nashua NH Not your Average Joes restaurant and it was completely different. Waitress service was slow and rude. 15 min to get water for the table when asked. Food was soggy and when waitress came to ask how it was we told her nicely that it didn’t compare at all to same menu items at their other restaurants, she whipped it out of my hand and rolled her eyes. She did take it off of the bill, but was very rude from their on. The remainder of the food was tasteless and seemed to be sitting under lights in kitchen for a very long time. Place was dirty, floor, menus and table… A lot of potential for this restaurant in this area, and it’s going to waste. What is Nashua doing right and Acton is so obviously not? Would love some feedback.

My wife and I just had lunch with our 7 month old daughter. Service was excellent and our waitress was very attentive. Shortly after we ordered our food, the manager(Alan I believe), came out to tell us that the kitchen had burnt the pizza and they were firing a new one and that they were going to take it off the bill. We weren’t in a rush and didn’t feel like we had waited at all for our food. but such good customer service to do that and let us know of the situation. Things like that really do go a long way, it’s the reason I am writing this review! We will definitely be back soon!

Great place for lunch with kids. After visiting the Children’s Mueseum we stopped here for lunch and the staff was friendly and accommodating with our cranky three year old. The waitress even brought over some pizza dough for him to play with and he immediately calmed down. Food was decent and the seating and atmosphere was great. Would definitely stop in for lunch again.

Service is terrible. Hostess sat a party of 2 at a round table for 5. When asked to move she said I just want to get you seated. Food is very avg. Only good thing is the bread. Servers are avg. no refill on water only wanted to upsell us on drinks. We finally moved to a booth. Whole experience was bad. Wont go back to Acton location…

We love Joe’s! Seasonal specials, always interesting items on the menu as well as the favorites. Veggie or gluten free for my picky kids. Service is very good, usually, and waiters are knowledgeable regarding the menu. Great neighborhood place for dinner and also great place to meet for fun cocktails. Make a reservation or eat in the bar. Packed on weekends!

Bad experience with take-out food quality. We were given a gift card last year and so my husband picked up take-out with it. Therefore this review is only of the take-out food experience and not of the in-restaurant dining experience, which, to be fair, looks like a nice enough place with updated décor and the menu is broad and creative, so I added a star to an otherwise minimum star experience. The first problem was that the beef came red and bloody, after emphasizing the importance of having it well-done(for medical reasons since I was pregnant at the time). The kicker was that the pizza which came with shredded chicken on top had a big chunk(about an inch long) of sharp-edged chicken bone chopped up into it and I crunched down on it and nearly damaged a tooth and got a stab in the mouth from it; thankfully nobody swallowed it! How careless!!! Also we didn’t like that the gift card says it expires within 90 days of purchase – that’s an unusually short time frame and as the recipients we didn’t know when that was. We will not be back even though our gift card was not completely used up(then again, it’ll have expired by now anyway).

Horrible service, we had a meeting with my daughter and her two friends and the parents. The waiters ask me about drink, I said vodka red-bull, She: we don’t have it I: ok, then vodka cranberry . She: I don’t know what you mean. I: take vodka and mix with cranberry juice . She: what kinda vodka ? She gave me like 5 – 6 names, ok, I said She: can I see your ID ? In front of my kid and her friends and they parents. And I am in my 40s. Totally awkward. Then she comes back: I hope you ok, you have such babe face. Was very disappointed. Stay out of this place with no service culture.

Went there on a Sunday for lunch. Food is ok, not great, but not bad either. It does take a while to get the dishes we ordered. I do like the bread with garlic dipping.

The highlight of joes is easily the bread and olive oil dip they serve in the beginning. However, during my most recent visit the bread was rock hard which was a disappointment. Their menu looked extensive at first, but after a while nothing really jumped out and caught my eye. I never get salads at restaurants, but I got the Thai chicken salad. It wasn’t amazing, but certainly enjoyable. My friends enjoyed their burgers mainly due to the fries that came with it. I’ve heard their desserts are really good so I’ll have to come back and try it sometime!

A nice place, but I find that the menu doesn’t get changed up very often. Obviously they should keep their good selling dishes but I wish there were more seasonal options. Service is always nice and friendly.

Three stars here because the food is ok, it is I guess what you would expect. The drinks are fabulous. There is usually a long wait to get in, and once you are in the volume is a bit loud to carry on a conversation of any substance. It is a great place to take the kids though. Prices are reasonable, pizza is great to order for the whole family. Sometimes the service is fabulous, sometimes you feel forgotten in the crowd, as if you are not seen, thats why going with the kids are great. I have an outgoing daughter that will sit there with her hand up or if it takes too long actually goes to find someone. Waiting 30 minutes for water is a bit long. The desserts are to die for. You must try them.

We’ve eaten at the restaurant and also had takeout. I eat rather healthy and I love Not Your Average Joe’s burgers. They are expertly cooked and always perfect and consistent. I get the sweet blue burger but my hubby and son get the cheddar with bacon. Yum! We also love the homemade bread and olive oil dip. I’ve also had their homemade lemonade and clam chowder… delicious!

I have been eaten lunches at Not Your Average Joe’s at this location several times already.(Mostly with my coworkers) So far I really enjoyed the food served here, the environment and food selections were all good. I love their bread and garlic sauce. Recommend it to folks around the area :)

Excellent food and service! Will definitely go back! We even got a free appetizer from the waitress since my husband was wearing his Marine Corps uniform. Thank you!!!

Two stars because the food is good and I like the gluten free menu. However the service here is seriously terrible. Went about a month ago at 4:15 pm and expected to be in and out because we had young kids with us. Everything went wrong. The waiter forgot our drinks. He forgot our silverware. He basically ignored us and forgot everything. It is baffling this place has a guy this bad as a waiter on a Saturday night which is usually the busiest night at a restaurant. Our food took over an hour to come. It took about 20 minutes to get anything that we asked for. Seriously the most terrible waiter and service ever. The only redeeming quality is the food was so good so we gave it another shot. Fast forward to tonight. Very nice waitress but it goes downhill from there. The martinis have almost no alcohol. We sent it back and it tasted a bit better but still a martini should be mostly clear, not dark red but apparently it’s «illegal» to add more alcohol than an extra ounce. Fantastic just what a customer wants to hear. It took 45 minutes for a soup to come out and when it did it was cold. Meanwhile everyone around us who was seated way after us got their food while we waited and waited and waited. We have young kids with us and came at 5:15 so the wait was completely ridiculous. Then once our meals are delivered the managers brought them over(I think because they knew we were pissed about the wait) and said nothing about how long it took! Not«Oh I’m sorry you waited over an hour for your meals when everyone else around you got them so much sooner.» Nothing. What kind of service is this? To be fair the waitress offered us free dessert or a free drink but at this point we were all just annoyed at the second terrible experience that we couldn’t leave soon enough. Seriously never ever going back to this location. The food is good but the awful service seriously ruins everything.

Stopped here on our arrival to the Boston area to have lunch with a friend. At first glance I thought they were a pizzeria which I was excited about. As we walked in to be seated I didn’t notice anyone eating pizza though which worried me. After reviewing the menu I had a hard time getting a feel for what this restaurant was«about.» Pub food with flare? Upscale burgers? Gastropub? Ultimately my wife and I ended up with sandwiches with soup(for her) and salad(for me). I had the mustard crusted chicken BLT that I enjoyed although it was overly tart as the mustard crust was very intense. Soft bread, fresh toppings, and delicious tomatoes. Chicken was thin and a little rough but still good. Side salad with balsamic dressing was also refreshing but I should’ve ordered fries to cut the sour mustard. Balsamic just added to the intense competing flavors. Service was fine, atmosphere was clean and welcoming, but nothing about it really stuck out to me.

Great atmosphere, interesting menu & some great food. The focaccia and Romano-olive oil dip was a great beginner — chunks of soft, garlicky focaccia was wonderful. The chowder was very flavorful with plenty of sweet clams. I opted for a salad(since I was lo-cal to this point) — the Super Crunchy Salad… quinoa, green apple, avocado, grilled chicken and greens with an interesting orange-sesame dressing. If you are ever in Acton, MA, don’t miss this spot!

I love the veggie spring rolls as well as the focaccia bread. My other go-to entrée is the haddock. I’ve had consistent success with these two selections. They can also whip up funky creative versions of well known cocktails. Great place to sit at the bar and take in a game on the big screen TV’s.

I ordered the Ahi Tuna entrée salad and what I got at an appetizer. The salad contained seaweed salad and pickled ginger(the kind you get with cheap sushi) and the four smallest pieces of tuna. The tuna was so seasoned I thought I was eating beef jerky. Seriously. I couldn’t even taste the fish! The sauce/dressing that accompanied the salad was too sweet, sticky and over powered the rest of the flavors in this dish. I was still hungry after I finished! I was disappointed with this meal. I would not order or recommend this dish. Sorry NYAJ, your dipping bread is still good!
