I noticed that there haven’t been any reviews for this gem of a restaurant recently, and I know they recently updated their menu, so I figured I would give my two cents. The Blue Coyote is wonderful. There are two entrances to the restaurant: One that goes into the main bar area(on the left) and one that goes into the larger dining room(on the right). Personally I like the bar area better because it’s cozier, but if you don’t like high-tops or TVs, the dining room is cute too, and there are tables large enough to seat just about any sized party. I come here regularly with my boyfriend and I have to say that the Blue Coyote has very attentive waitstaff. Our waters are always full, they always ask if we need refills on drinks, and any special requests are dealt with easily and efficiently. The food isn’t fancy– good American dishes, but I love the creativity and fresh vegetables the Coyote’s menu always uses. Salads are huge, fresh, and they never skimp on the meat. Appetizers come quickly and can easily feed 3 – 4 people(and I’ve been here with a large group of very hungry people!). I also love that each night of the week has its own special. Monday nights, for example, offer $ 5 burgers and fries with any drink purchase and Thursday nights offer $ 5 chicken nachos. The bar offers well priced drink options($ 520 oz Downeast Hard Ciders??? YUM!) and the cocktails are tasty and well made. The atmosphere of the Coyote is relaxed and very family friendly. I’ve never felt rushed here, and it’s never been too loud to talk to my friends. If you’re looking for a casual dining option, I seriously think you should give The Blue Coyote a try. I came here for the first time 2 years ago and I’m a total convert.

Been here three times since moving to the area. First two times we ordered meals and were pleased with the quality and price to portions. I had fish both times, my husband had burgers, and felt satisfied with everything. Service at times was slow both times, which I partially blame due to the nookish layout of the restaurant area. Third time here was sitting at the bar and we didn’t order food, as the bar tender completely ignored us while attending to friends. Overall I’d say this is a good spot for local as long as you know the waitstaff. Otherwise, be ready to take the initiative to get service.

My favorite stop for a family meal or dinner with friends. The menu never disappoints although if it did, I wouldn’t be surprised if Tek would fix it. Above and beyond service and great staff. Gina gas to be my favorite bartender although Tek makes my favorite drink like no other. Sorry Gina! Waitstaff has always been kind and prompt. Never left wanting. My husband loves the blacken salmon and makes a point of ordering it every single time, something that is rare for him. My favorites include the lobster mac n cheese, turkey wrap, and the mozzarella flatbread. But with the ever evolving menu, I always find something new to love. Prices are average and kids eat free certain days of the week.

Good service, but not great food. The spinach tasted funny, and the lemonade had a funny aftertaste. But the waitstaff was timely and good.

The Blue was good a few years ago but it’s gotten really good. It’s my first choice for food in Maynard, Concord, or Acton. I don’t know what changed, everything just tastes fresher, it’s not average pub food anymore. The Garlic parmesan Coyote wings, the enormous full rack of ribs, and the Cheyenne burger… Amazing. It looks like the same Coyote from the outside, but it’s completely changed. If you’ve tried it before, try it again! If you’ve never been, go! Sorry about the future addiction!

I do actually like it here and think the food is pretty good(they have the best crispy fries!) but the interior really does need some work. It’s very dark and run-down. I also was disappointed that they appear to have changed their honey-mustard salad dressing recipe. My favorite item is the Honey Grilled Chicken Salad, but the dressing when I went this week was just bland and didn’t taste like much of anything(it used to be so delicious!) — it was really sort of a let-down from what I was hoping to get. I hadn’t been here in a few months before this visit, so I’m not sure when this change happened. On the plus side, I thought the chicken was cooked much better than I’ve had in the past — I often have found it to be overcooked and tough to cut, but it was cooked perfectly and they sliced it down the middle, so less cutting for me, which was nice. I’ve had trouble with slow service here in the past, but it looked like a lot of new faces since my last visit and was happy with the service. They might have gotten 4 stars from me if it weren’t for the honey-mustard dressing completely lacking any taste.

I have been here a couple of times, and I actually have enjoyed my food each time. I think it’s probably the best place for a sit-down dinner in Maynard. However they really need to work on the interior, as it just looks outdated and kind of dirty inside. At least change out those carpets. For food alone I’d give 4 stars but I’m giving 3 stars because of the atmosphere.

I work in the area and we order food from local places every day. it’s hard to find a good spot that we haven’t tried yet. We came across Blue Coyote and placed a huge order of salads, burgers, sandwiches, and pasta entrees. They knocked it out of the park, and we’ve gone back at least 3 days a week since and haven’t gotten sick of it. Their ingredients are high quality(burgers are delicious and correctly cooked, steak is lean meat), the meals are well prepared and their onion strings are wicked good. They even gave us $ 25 off for repeated service… now thats good business. Give these guys a shot if you want to try some good food and are sick of the other places around here. They have a good bar area and a back patio too

Having recently moved to the area we quickly hit all the spots which there really aren’t many of in Maynard. We have been here a few times over the last month or so and had a pleasant experience every time. Food– Well, this is what I call a blue collar type of spot and I order things accordingly. Stick to the burgers and sandwiches. Onion strings are good and fries are nice and crispy. Had the reuben the other day and it was nice and thick on marbled rye with strings and a pickle wings are OK Drink Few draft choices in 16 or 20oz Never had a cocktail here but I am particular and I believe in ordering wisely to avoid disappointment in life Tv’s around the bar area has an outdoor area with 6 – 8 tables Staff Overall decent spot and I have had very prompt and pleasant service when there– I even tried to buy and standing coat rack in the corner I like and got a good laugh from our server seem well staffed at appropriate times

We have avoided the Coyote for the year that we’ve lived in Maynard based on some of the older reviews. Not a lot of choices left in town now with the closing of the Neighborhood Pizza. Have been here a few times. It is ok. Burgers are good. Beer is cold.

Disgusting. Just got takeout from here. Hear it was new ownership yet again. going from 2 stars to 1. Wish i could give them 0. Ordered fajitas for myself. Gross premade chicken thought it was tofu same consistency and color. Absolutely disgusting food and atmosphere smells like gross sticky beer on the floor and old cigarette smoke. Don’t waste your money. So bad.

My boyfriend and I moved to Maynard in the Fall of 2012, and waited quite a while to try Blue Coyote. But, I’m very glad we did! I’d consider us ‘frequents” here now — I don’t know if we’re there enough to be «regulars». However, it’s a great place for a burger and a beer. My boyfriend really likes the«Black and Bleu» burger. And, he had rave reviews for the new August special, «The Vermonster»: an angus burger with vermont cabot cheddar, maple bacon, and apples. Fan-freekin’-tastic. Plus, you can get sweet potato fries here! I’m not a red meat-eater, but the menu is expansive, so I always find something that I like. My favorites are the buffalo chicken salad, the flatbreads or any chicken sandwich. One of the July Specials was a Summer Vegetable Flatbread, which was absolutely divine. The waitstaff is friendly, conversational, attentive and fast. The owner is great too — he’s always on the floor helping out where he can, and always stops by for a chat. You can usually find a Red Sox game on, with new TVs in the Bar. And, there’s a closed in deck out back for nice weather!

I’m giving an honest review for the type of restaurant this is. For a bar/restaurant this has 4 star food. They have the most delicious homemade onion strings and a very good«Cheyanne Burger». Pulled pork quesadillas are also a must have. The prime rib is expensive(to be expected) but has a great flavor. I’ve also had the prime rib sliders and they are delicious and big enough to have a meal with some onion strings(as i often do). The important thing people need to realize is what this place is… its not a upscale Boston restaurant, its a bar/restaurant in rural Maynard MA, and it lives up to my expectations. This is a place you go and relax, maybe watch a game with friends and eat some fried food.

My husband and I both have mixed opinions of this place. It’s definitely hit or miss as to whether you’ll have a 1 star or a 4 star experience.(I don’t picture ever having a 5 star experience here.) Last time we went we had the garlic parmesan wings(half price during NFL games) and they were delicious. Another time we went we had a couple of apps which were mediocre at best(and found out only after receiving the check that they charged us 75 cents for a small cup of extra salsa we requested). Service is iffy, and some of the food is good while other items are not so good. We still hit this place for a change of pace, but it’s not high on the list of «must go’s».

I’ve wanted to try this place for a little while, and a few weeks ago, I finally got the chance. Was driving through Maynard so I stopped to get lunch. The place is nice inside. Nice dark wood and all. The bathroom is a little small, but functional. You’re not there to sit in the bathroom anyway. I sat at the bar. The bartender was new, a month or so, but she was really nice, and answered any questions I had. I got the pastrami sandwich and the clam chowder. First: clam chowder. On the menu, it says, «made with bacon». Let’s just say, yes, it IS made with bacon. And bacon. And bacon. And maybe a little clam and potatoes and cream. I love clam chowder, and I absolutely LOVE bacon. But this was more of a bacon chowder than a clam chowder. It was so bacony that I only ate half of it. And I’ve never left a dish with bacon in it only half eaten. Second: the pastrami sandwich. HUGE. I barely ate half of it. And I can eat. The pastrami was lean, and yummy. Other than that, the menu wasn’t very appealing. It looked like over priced bar food. I don’t think I’ll really go out of my way to go here.

I don’t think I’ll be back. I had the lobster mac and cheese. It tasted fine, but there was no side dish, not even bread for $ 21. I suppose I could have ordered a salad side, but that would put me up around $ 27 to $ 30. When I think about what I could get in Cambridge/Somerville/Boston at that price, it doth make me sad to be living out here. I left quite hungry. My kid got a mac and cheese kid’s meal, which was nice of them to offer since it wasn’t on the menu. It was not boxed stuff, good quality, and his drink and ice cream made his meal an excellent value. The waitress also offered a refill that I don’t think she was going to charge us for, but the kid had had his fill. But he’s not writing the review. I am, and I don’t expect I’ll return. If I did, i would try a salad, but one with shrimp or salmon would run me about $ 13, and I don’t trust them to fill me up with it.

Funny. I was looking at the previous review from a Clock Tower employee. I boycotted this place for 4 years because former staff use to regularly ignore non Clock Tower customers. I guess our time wasn’t as important! I finally got sick off being ignored by them and went to Not Your Average Joe’s in Acton. I have eaten at the Blue Coyote twice over the last two months and have been mostly pleased with the service and food. There’s room for improvement, but I will come back. I must say I am happy to see they still have their jukebox. When a Sox’s or Bruin’s game is not on, it’s nice to be able to pick some music to go with the drinks and food.

Want a good burger and a good beer? Stuck in Maynard? I feel for you. Fortunally, the Blue Coyote is here to help. I’ve been a few times for drinks right before catching a flick, but I have dined here twice recently and been mostly pleased with the results. Big portions, decent draft selection and reasonable prices make this a go to stop in Maynard(if such a thing exists) for a casual night out. Services is a little slow and inexperienced, but nothing terrible. My badvice here would be to take advantage of the burgers(good quality beef, well cooked and borderline massive), enjoy a Wachusett Country, and then get out of Maynard as fast as possible.
