I LOVE this place! This could be the best balance of taste and cost in Melbourne! For only $ 6 you get a massive banh mi roll — your choice of protein — I always get chicken. And they have a best practice production line behind the till! Mine has been ready before I have paid before! At lunchtime there is always a queue out the door but it moves fast and is worth it. The rice paper rolls are also great.

I am lucky enough to work within 5 minutes of Master Roll. But beware, if you plan on going during your lunch break, be prepared to jostle for a space in the queue — but its totally worth it! Crusty flaking bun, perfect amount of meat and crackling(I had pork belly) — not too much carrot. Weird funky white object down the middle(a pickle!!!) All was delicious, made quickly and only $ 6 each. Bargain. I will be eating one every day this week!

I visited on a Thursday 6PM on my way out of the South Yarra Train station. And I am so glad I did. There was no line and the lady at the counter was very patient while I decided which one to get. I ended up choosing a chicken bánh mì with no chili. It came out to be $ 6 which is a pretty solid price and it was made in just a few minutes. Excellent pickled vegetables, juicy grilled chicken and crisp baguette. The next time I’m in Melbourne, I’ll definitely visit again!

I just love this place so much. They have my favorite bánh mì in the city. The roast pork bánh mì(get it with chili) comes with cuts of pork belly which crisped to crackling on one side and has excellent savory seasoning. This coupled with their fresh herbs, carrot slaw, and pickled onion makes for one of the most delicious sandwiches you can find, and certainly at $ 6 it is well worth it. Their classic Vietnamese cold cuts bánh mì(also needs chili) is my other favorite. One thing I appreciate is that the demi baguettes they use are well baked, but also provide the ideal ratio of bread to filling and the right crispness to the crust. It’s a really well crafted sandwich. Their other offerings such as bún cá are also great, but be prepared to wait a good while for those during the lunch rush. They don’t have that streamlined like the bánh mì preparation which is really efficient.

Very good Vietnamese rolls, great flavours, just the right amount of spice and good service. I would come here again in a heartbeat. Also the prices are very good.

Best banh mi in Melbourne so far. I am in the search for the best. So far this place has it. Lunch time rush can be a bit of a pain as the line is way out the door. Not sure what it was like before according to the reviews but they now has a production line of three ladies making the rolls. Service is quicker for the rolls but I have noticed that for other food(bun) can take a bit longer as it’s made in the back. Overall this place has the bread, the taste of a great banh mi

*Review incomplete A little ho-hum for my liking. More like a standard salad roll lacking in the Vietnamese twist. Besides having a modern fresh setting, it wasn’t very clean inside, rubbish all over the tables, and food all over the floor.

Good food but would hate to be ordering with more than two people in the store, took ten minutes.

A great addition to Toorak Road. Master Roll Vietnam serve exactly that spring rolls, rice paper rolls, Banh Mi rolls … and vermicelli salads and phở! Busy during peak hours, on a Saturday people were lining up out the door to grab a $ 6 Banh Mi. I ordered the chicken Banh Mi and it was the best one I have had to date in Perth or Melbourne! I really wanted to try the sticky pork belly Banh Mi but the next time I ate here was dinner and Banh Mi rolls were only available between 7.30am and 5.00pm! Well priced and fresh … what more could you want!
