10 am brunch. lots of steamed and fried food. Our favorite are steamed BBQ pork buns & prawn rice four rolls. Each dish can range from $ 4.40 for small serving to $ 6.30 for large serving. Also like the sound long pau or steamed dumplings with soup. Tea can be ordered as required.

Quite possibly the best service I’ve had for Yum Cha. Within 30 seconds of walking through the door we were seated at a table with food on our plates. The food kept on coming and it was all very nice. What was even nicer was the bill which was very small! I will definitely be returning some Sunday for a super speedy Sunday brunch.

Quickest service i have ever gotten from any restaurant. OK i know with yum cha you don’t normally have to wait long for it but this was remarkable we had everything on the table that we wanted within minutes staff where continuously walking by with more and more food. This is where your eyes can be bigger then your stomach. The price was great 2 people with i think it was about 7 plates and tea for $ 31 that’s a good Sunday morning breakfast at a great price

About once a month two friends and I head out on a Sunday morning for Yum Cha. I will admit to being a creature of certain habits and we have been going to the same place for about a year. I recently read a couple of reviews for this place and thought we could try it too, just for a change. After all, the reviews were good. Sadly, my friends, I do not concur. But that’s ok. I still like you. I agree, the service and price are very highly rated(fast, friendly and cheap — 2 stars), but the quality of food is seriously lacking. My pork and vegetable steamed dumplings were undercooked and chewy. The steamed pork buns were rated by the aficionado Phil as «doughy and bland». The salt, pepper and chilli squid was not spicy and too oily. Almost flavourless, except for the heavy floured coating. And I had to laugh at the fried crab dumplings — they were filled with pork! The other thing that was novel was that the yum cha at this place is all done by ordering off the menu. It just doesn’t feel the same. There are no little trolleys trundling about to tantalise you. A couple of the lovely ladies walk around with trays, but their offerings are all deep fried. I don’t know about you, but the excitement of seeing if the next trolley has something to tempt me is half the reason I go to yum cha. It also makes me over-eat. Good business acumen. Win-win for both parties! I might be able to convince my companions to try another place, but I’m sorry, we won’t be coming back here. Not even for the wonderful and plentiful Chinese tea.

When I lived in Sydney I ate Yum Cha religiously every Sunday morning after a big night. When I came back to Perth I eased back into the normal brunch scene, especially when I moved closer to Casa Bianchi and Sayers. This Sunday just pasted I came around full circle and started back up my Sunday yum cha tradition, this time back in my beloved Perth. Yum cha is the best hangover cure, hands down. Trays and trays of scrumptious Chinese bites, dumplings, pork buns, Asian greens and many many more going round and round until the lasts nights shenanigans are just a distant Chinese tea hazed memory. I wanted to try somewhere that wasn’t Dragon Palace and so we tried Welcome Inn. You can book a table over 8 people on a Sunday but anything below that you have to wait because its usually packed(around 7 – 8 parties out the front waiting at 12.30pm). It’s BYO, nothing flash décor and it’s manic but if you expect anything different from your yum cha experience then you’re crazy. We had a table of 8 and I was very impressed at how quickly our table filled up of so many different dishes. I have vivid memories of pleading with Sydney Yum Cha establishments to bring us something ‘not deep fried’ because everything else would get snatched up before we got to them. It was nice then to have so much variety throughout the duration of our lunch. 3 girls, 5 boys in our party and we were all happily full after our meal and the bill only came to $ 93… I nearly fell off my seat! Total bargain and the price isn’t reflected in the quality. Authentic, dirt cheap and yummy. Yet ANOTHER fabulous place to eat on William Street!
