Terrible customer service, would not recommend. Manager was extremely rude, shouting at staff. Hair in food. Horrible.

Terrible customer service. The manager was a nightmare. He just barked at us in a very aggressive manner, would not recommend this place. Turned the AC off at 9;30pm. They should be trained to treat the customers well if they need more business. TERRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE. DONOTGO

I have been frequenting the Hilltop for many years and like it’s sisters in Rhodes and in the City, it serves up a decent yum cha menu which is on the higher end of the pricing scale. Each weekend the queues are very long — sometimes over an hour if you are not there early enough. Service is typical of a yum cha place — very efficient but not many smiles. You can expect a good 10 minute wait before a cart comes across your table but stock up with plates before the next one. I’d recommend this experience for a large group willing to cope with the noise and high pace of this restaurant.

Terrible service… Food wasn’t bad. Service can make or break a place. Need to start employing younger staff to deliver the food carts… Super slow!

I find that it has a smaller range of yum cha than what im use to at rhodes or city but still quite nice. Its located in the Piazza which makes it an easy location if your off to the movies or meeting friends. Try to get there early as it does get busy with locals.

Saturday Lunch Yum cha The selection and quality of dim sum is not very good. The flavours are not authentic but are familiar or similar to Chinese takeaways. Only the essential items are available, even then, they are not delicately crafted or flavoured. The chrysanthemum tea I ordered had good aroma but it was tasteless, so it is disappointing. The ‘cha’ cannot be neglected at yum cha. The serving ladies had sour faces, but its OK because customer interaction is minimal at yum cha. The cost is not really justified by the food. For most people, yum cha with family and friends at Phoenix will be a good occasion, but if you want a ‘yum cha experience’ then it’s not up to scratch.

Hilltop Pheonix has a great yum cha. I’ve been there a bit and the staff are getting better and better all the time. Now that they have extended lunch hours, so you can safely rock up at 1.30pm and eat while the kitchen is still in full swing without having to worry about being limited to food that’s been circling around for an hour. Great variety of food going around, and the staff are happy to take special orders a la carte. The staff are also not at all pushy which seems to be the custom of so many other similar restaurants, which is a refreshing addition to their already great service. Make sure to save some room for dessert… You can leave without having a mango pancake or two. Also, while there is usually no or minimal wait to get a table, peak periods like Father’s Day and public holidays can get pretty busy so expect to wait up to an hour.

Good for yum cha but there are better places in the city if you want to make the trek.

Worst ever service and absolutely rude waiters… Minimum waiting time to be noticed for order is 45mins, 1.25hours for food to be served on the table after order is taken. Oh by the way once you have ordered you cannot order again because they will not entertain your request anymore. DONOTRECOMMENDTHISPLACETOANYONE!!!
