Starbucks. Scott loves it, but I’m more of an independent coffee warrior these days, so I only tend to go when I’m with him when he wants a coffee. I didn’t have one this time, instead choosing to go to small batch afterwards. Service is generally good, staff are nice, no complaints there. It’s always busy with ‘Hove Mums’ and people glued to their laptops, and sometimes feels quite stuffy. I never stay there long and usually try to make Scott get his coffee to go.

Walked into this Starbucks today on a chilly day on the coast and this by far one of the best Starbucks around the lever of service from the staff here is amazing making you feel so welcome as soon as you get in, your greeted with a smile and by someone that actually asks you how your day was and what you have been doing unlike the usual awkward silence or robotic service seen in other coffee shops definitely a favourite of mine and will always recommend a visit here!

This one in Hove near Palmeira Square of the biggest of the Starbucks in Brighton and Hove. The whole point, I suppose, about Starbucks is that they are all the same and this is in the mould. But it has a lively vibe about it no doubt assisted by the youthful crowd. Several of the big language schools are in the area and it’s just a plectrum’s pluck away from the ever so cool BIMM(Brighton Institute of Modern music) too.

I love my local coffee shops and tea shops but every so often I do go to Starbucks as(shoot me) I am seduced by the comfy sofas and love to sit with a big fat mug of(not the best I admit) coffee but if you time it right it can be a very relaxing place. With the big windows you can see the buzz of Brunswick go by. There are certain times when it is filled with parents and kids but they are usually at set times and they are not that often so if you are a parent it is a spacious place to hang and if you want to relaxing, time it right and it is one of the best spots in Hove. The staff are really friendly too.

Best Starbucks I’ve been to in the UK — Not sure why it’s this good? Kind of confusing really — I normally avoid Starbucks but had just moved to the area and didn’t know what the«good» coffee were… After living in hove for a while I still come back!

Starbucks, like McDonald’s, is based on the idea that joe shmoe general public likes to be able to walk into any branch in any town and find the same reliable familiar products on offer. I can understand the appeal of that… although I would prefer to resist it and support the individual over the mass produced, the mass replicated. In a lot of ways this Starbucks is like any other– their coffee is certainly as weak and overly milky as the other outlets– in a few small ways though it stands out. And, like Joseph and Sarah-Jane, it is these small details that occasionally tempt me into this particular Starbucks. See the irony– they have designed these cafes to all be the same and yet it is the differences that draw us in, namely, in this café, the large tables set up for laptops with sockets, perfect for working or studying. This is such a simple yet brilliant idea– why don’t more cafés do this?! Other pluses are the brightness thanks to the huge windows, the cleanliness, and the super on the ball staff.

Peter Andre got papped here! There is no better accolade than that. By far the nicest Starbucks the city has to offer, this place gives even some of Hove’s finer cafes a run for their money. The whole set up seems somehow original despite it being straight out of the make-you-own Starbucks kit sent over from Seattle. The seating is comfortable, the drinks selection seems more appealing and the staff friendlier. I don’t know what it is that’s so different, but this place really does make the Starbucks formula seem like an appealing one.

Anyone whose read my review of Starbucks’ flagship store on Western Road will know I’m not a fan of the company or their coffee. If you must drink at Starbucks though, this is the best branch in the city. It’s five minutes walk from the sea-front and so the perfect place to pick up a take away cup and head for the beach. The staff are a hundred times more friendly and knowledgable than in the other branches, the shop is clean and tidy — all the mess seems to get cleared away as soon as people leave! — and the atmosphere is more relaxed. Miraculously, the coffee tastes better here too. Maybe it’s because the staff are older and more experienced or because they actually drink the coffee themselves? Who knows. The lattes still taste too milky and weak for my liking but the espressos and frappucinos have a good kick to them.
