Very nice café and also nice restaurant. It’s at the upper floor of a shop. The place is really small and cozy which is perfect for an afternoon tea or coffee. Plus they have a bunch of excellent cakes and pastries. I went there for lunch on a Saturday. The food was excellent but it was a little bit busy. Despite the fact that they called me back when the table was available I can’t give 5 stars because it was a little bit too busy and noisy that day: Victim of their success! So my recommendation is: If it’s not too busy, go there!

Very pleasant atmosphere. Only a handful of table, a clean and airy environment. Delicious pastry exhibited and a kitchen in plain sight. The deal of the day was a great choice.

Really surprising little café about the shop. It’s like being transported to a rustic French kitchen with it’s distressed walls and long countertops. The staff are unfailingly friendly and cook simple egg dishes on griddles in front of you. The cakes looked amazing and came in big slices, which is encouraging. Definitely recommended.

Lovely local café above an equally lovely home-ware shop in Hove. Feels like being in someone’s beautiful kitchen/dining room. The tea and cake are delicious and served in «proper» crockery — the savoury snacks(especially the welsh rarebit) is divine. Great place for a quiet business meeting or a catch up with friends… though it’s small and get busy at times.

Igigi is one of the more peculiar set-ups in Brighton: a café above a furniture shop, not even a very big one… it’s not like it’s a big enough store for an in-house café which is nearly the same size as the shop itself! Still, if you can look past its strangeness, Igigi is a great place for a coffee: cheap, pleasant and with great views up and down Western Road. Not the most wonderful of hidden cafes, but a nice alternative to much of what this early part of Hove has to offer. Igigi itself is a great little store, with a fine selection of upmarket furniture, but upstairs is where we’re focusing on today: their little café. I suppose the shop does also sell some pretty impressive groceries, but, surprisingly, little of their stock seems to have transferred to their menu. Instead, the basic fare on offer is tasty, but dull. Scones, coffees, sandwiches… it’s not bad, it’s just not special enough for Hove, let alone for a shop that prides itself on its produce. Still, all that aside, Igigi Café is a lovely place to sit and watch the world float by. The view of Western Road from the bay window is very nice: there is a lot to see in this part of Brighton. Beyond that, the location is decent, if a little noisy, and a pleasant, homely atmosphere has been lovingly recreated with lots of wood and plants. I like this café, but often find it a little dull compared to Brighton’s myriad mixtures of food and café genres: if you’re not feeling very experimental, give Igigi Café a go.

This is a lovely café, oddly situated within a homeware/grocery store. None the less, it is a great place to go and get away from the busy streets below. The café is on the first floor, which means that if you are lucky enough to get a window facing table, you can look out and watch the crowds pass. Even if you aren’t so fortunate as to be at the window, the café is still plenty good enough. The coffee was very good, as were the homemade scones I ate(2, don’t judge me). I would say that this might well be the best café in the neighbouring area.

This tiny café is one of Hove’s best kept secrets. Upstairs in Igigi’s General Store, it’s a cute space with big windows, a handful of wooden chairs and tables and a lovely aesthetic. It also has wonderful Monmouth coffee and a small but impressive selection of lip-smackingly good food. There’s brunch items, daily warm and cold salads, soups, welsh rarebit and cheese and ham boards with chunks of fresh bread. I’ve tried and loved the latter two but the thing I’m hooked on is their homemade toasted breakfast loaf. It’s packed with oats, nuts and fruit and comes with yoghurt and jam. Their selection of home-baked cakes, meringues and brownies also make Igigi an ideal place to catch up with friends over cake and coffee or afternoon tea. The only downside is it’s more pricey than other local cafes and is so small, it’s sometimes hard to get a table. Anyone for coffee and carrot cake?
