What’s not to like here? Aside from a great cut/colour every time(and I’ve seen at least six stylists) the staff are just lovely. They even managed a decent fix when I foolishly let a student at my locks. Everyone is chatty and there is a lovely atmosphere — tea and coffee on offer, good chat… and the chairs. They have fricking massage chairs at the sinks. Not only do you get a fantastic head massage: you have a pulsating chair and a remote to select the best setting. Stand-by appointments are easy to get and very reasonably priced, plus text offers of money off come through regularly from the salon. The new premises are all swanky and shiny but the atmosphere remains as chilled as ever — it’s such a friendly place that I wish fourteen year old me had had a Saturday job here instead of doing the milk run with that boy I fancied. He only ever had eyes for my friend with the legs. Sigh. Bet she doesn’t have a masage chair hairdresser though. WHO’S LAUGHINGNOW? Go here, you won’t be disappointed.

Bright, breezy and totally cool this is one of the best hairdressers along this stretch. Surprisingly, the aura of this shop is not stuck up or inclusive at all. The staff are mega friendly to customers as well as chatty and playful amongst themselves — always a great sign, you don’t want someone snipping at your hair while making evil eyes across the room. As Chris says, it’s also been here for a substantial amount of time. Ergo, it must be good to stand on its own two feet and fight off the competition without having to use dirty tactics. While, it’s a little above what I’d normally pay, it does not take advantage of the West Enders nearly as much as other similar salons round about this area.

Although i probably wouldnt come here for a haircut its only because i have found my ideal cutting joint and has no reflection on the quality or coolness of this place. Parked on Great Western road near the end o Byres road, Hanlon’s has been here for a wee while now, which would appear to be a good yard stick to judge it on. The fact that its still here despite a couple of year of competition from the Toni and Guy salon a few doors up, i think says alot about the quality of the cuts in there. Certainly from my experiences i found them to be really nice and provide exactly what i was looking for from cut, by this i mean they didint leave me lookin like i was wearing a half eaten goat on top of my head… we’ve all been there before… no…just me then? Anyway. In terms of price its pretty much in the same region as anywhere else. Good chat and a bit of friendly banter between the staff, all in all a nice place for a cut.
