Nice pub with a decent selection of beers. It’s quite big. There’s a second floor I didn’t explore. People here are helpful in letting you know what’s going on in Brighton.

Good atmosphere, plenty of space, pleasant staff behind the bar and tasty, inexpensive Thai food. The drinks are on the pricey side but this is a lovely pub to go to for lunch as they have an excellent lunchtime ‘2 courses for £5 offer’, which is a steal! So the prices sort of even out and they welcome dogs, which is a rare find in Brighton/Hove! My fiancé, myself and our huskymute are all happy regulars. :)

Lovely décor, good service, great food. But pretty expensive, often crowded and always uncomfortably hot.

Well. if your’e a Real Ale drinker then you got it made here. excellent range of beers stocked in this pub. Immaculatley clean and well presented, it would seem that it has a steady stream regulars. Well worth a visit.

Stopped in here for a quick bottle with some friends. Didn’t stay long, but the place was packed, and I was surprised as I thought it was going to be a dive. Pretty cosy, little chairs and tables everywhere. Nothing to write home about, but then again, I didn’t try their pizza when I heard is amazing. :)

A pretty standard pub, I think the other reviewers have more or less hit the nail on the head with this one. As the pub closest to Palmeira Square, when I first came here I expected the Wick to be a bit more swanky, as it is it has very little by the way of swank. There isn’t anything wrong with it, but it’s just nothing special. They do a normal selection of beers, the pizzas are good and quite reasonably priced, but there isn’t anything about the Wick that would keep you coming back. They also are always loudly playing indie/rock music that is a bit out of date, loud Arctic Monkeys tracks, the Killers and so on. In my opinion this isn’t terribly conducive to a chilled out drink. OK on the weekend when the pub is busy, less good on a sunny, quiet afternoon.

I really like The Wick Inn. It’s kept the traditional feel to it and has an amazing large round bar with a big chandelier hanging in the middle, there is a nice selection of alcohol too. It is nice and cosy and always has great music playing. It manages to maintain a a relatively mixed crowd of people with groups of young people as well as older. I like this about the place as there is nothing worse then going to a pub and seeing the same type of people in there 24⁄7. There is also a small enclosed outside area for smokers which is a nice change not to be stuck in the cold! It’s a pretty large pub with an upstairs too plus the bar is very big with lots of stools next to it so there is usually always a place to sit. Another thing to mention is that the bar staff are always friendly and even on a Monday night you would be sure to find a good atmosphere there.

Great little pub, first one sampled when moving down South East a couple of years ago, but I always thought it was really dead. Then tried the Sunday roast in Jan 2010, it BUZZES on a Sunday. The roast is a big plate of stuff, unusual combinations of herbs for the veg made it a bit odd, but great meat, great presentation, friendly staff and as it is a big place, you get a seat no problem. Friendly locals and good music. Update: 2012 I really like this pub, one of the first I visited when scoping out Brighton to live. They used to do Sunday roasts which were awesome, not tried the Thai food. Only complaint is their rank toilets. I hated them when I first visited, and a couple of years later, they were still dank and the same toilet had a flooded floor. Not cool at all, totally put me off. I guess I live near now so I could nip home to go to the toilet, but I shouldn’t have to do that, should I? Update: 2013 Back in the good books! Superb Thai food in the week, their Sunday roast is back and very very good. Sometimes bustling, sometimes nice and quiet. AND they finally fixed the loos.

This is the perfect place to head to after a nice long walk along the seafront. It is at the far end of Hove but I would suggest walking down there for lunch with a few pints and then you have all the shops on Western Road to browse. They do really nice stone-baked pizzas which in my humble opinion are better than a lot of Italian restaurants. Its a really nice relaxing place to eat in the daytime and the booth-style seating can make it quite intimate. It does really fill up in the evening though and we found its best to retreat to the upstairs area which is less crowded and you get some lovely views of the front.

The Wick’s a pretty cool pub which seems to have a good atmosphere, and is often busy. I like the old school ‘Cheers’/American saloon bar calligraphy and decoration on the windows, which makes it seem quite dark and moody, which I like in a pub. The Pizza’s too are now back on, so that’s a bonus. Come here for a few whiskey’s then head on up town, or to the Brunswick for some music.

With a cosy interior, average priced drinks and friendly staff the Wick Inn is a pleasant but ordinary pub. As it’s situated on the junction of Western Road and Church road, it’s the kind of place frequented by passing pedestrians and therefore can be hit-and-miss in terms of atmosphere. However, there’s nothing wrong with the service or layout and as such it’s perfect for an informal meeting or one-on-one chat. They serve stone baked Pizzas from 12 – 3 and then 6 – 10 on weekdays and also dish up a hearty Sunday roast, all at an affordable price. If you totter down on a Monday night you’ll be offered the chance to take part in their weekly quiz, which starts at 8pm. The upstairs section is probably the pub’s highlight as it looks down Holland Road towards the sea. Its décor has a certain threadbare extravagance that makes for a slightly more interesting drinking experience, however this doesn’t hide the fact that The Wick Inn has the potential to be a much better place. At the moment it is a simple boozer but with a touch of creativity it could easily be turned into something special.

I’m a big fan of the Wick Inn, ever since they got Lazenby’s Proper Pizza Company in doing the food I’ve been in there non stop — it’s my favourite pub around. They play great music and I frequently have to go up to the lovely bar staff to ask what’s playing — they’ve always got something new playing and i’ve ended up buying some of their recommendations. So the Pizza’s…they are great, hand made and baked in the kitchen — no breville toaster jobs here! All fresh italian ingredients and taste just as good and I’d say better than other Pizza restaurants like Pizza Express etc. The menu’s recently been expanded with some very tasty additions, the spicy Steve Brown is particularly tasty! On Sunday’s they do an awesome Sunday Roast, at a very reasonable 7.95 the plate is full of beautifully cooked vegetables, homecooked Yorkshire Puds and amazing roast potatoes! Oh and to go with that the choice of Chicken, Beef or the best Nut Roast i’ve ever tasted being a vegetarian myself. Apparently it’s even the recipe that the Landlord’s mum came up with — ah how cute! Overall a great bar, friendly warm and toasty in the winter months. Ideal for a date!

I might be biased(as this is my local and within staggering distance home !) but this is my favourite pub in Brighton. Serve a very nice drop of Guiness ! Layout of the pub is great now that they have moved the bar back in to the centre and seating/standing areas are around it. Gets quite busy but has a great atmosphere. Never any trouble. Recently changed it’s Thai menu to an Italian one and I can definitely recommend the pizza’s !

Since they refurbished this pub — and reverted back to the original name of The Wick Inn — this pub has become quite a busy little watering hole. Nice mixture of people of varying ages. Used to have a delicious thai menu — but I’m told this has now changed to Italian. Bonus if you are a smoker ! An internal door leads to a partialy covered and fully heated smoking area. If you are not a smoker try to avoid the table next to this door(it’s usually the one that is free !!)

This place has had an amazing transformation since it used to be the Biscuit Factory. The whole place has been done out beautifully and they’ve managed to keep its original Brighton style and not go all corporate and souless. The Thai food has gone(like there’s not enough Thai food in Brighton!) and in its place is a new pizza and Italian menu during the week, which is delicious. They have some fancy new stone pizza oven that cooks pizza at 400 degrees C(twice as hot as your oven at home) making it delicious. They really are very good, I’ve tried several! I’d recommend the Steve Brown special. On Sundays they do a fantastic roast too and it’s HUGE!!! You get mountains of beautifully cooked food, all fresh and home made. Roasts are £7.95(beef, chicken, lamb and a lovely home made nut roast) and pizzas are about £7 — cheaper than pizza express but far better quality ingredients. I think the kitchen is open lunchtimes and evenings. So go to the Wick, eat, drink and be merry! I do.

This place never seems empty, let alone on the weekend. Attracting a mix of the youthful and the business type, it’s always bursting. This can be anything from bewildering, annoying or great fun, depending on your mood. They serve some pretty decent Thai food, and the barmaids are friendly enough. It’s always a busy atmosphere, even when there are few people in there. Something to do with the dark lighting and the endless bottles behind the bar.
