The St George’s has been warm and friendly. Nice outdoor garden with heating that could only be better in the sun as its open and full of plants. Nice selection of drinks. It’s always good to feel welcome.

The Saint Georges Inn is a cozy, friendly bar set a stones throw from Brighton hospital. Staff are great, beer is great, food is great and the pub quiz on a Thursday is… a hoot and a half. Large sized beer garden with regular BBQ’s and live music add to the reasons to pop in. Strong recommend.

This is my after-work local, so normally tends to serve as an oasis in the middle of the desert. Bad day at the office? — lets all pile down to the George for a pint or two of Arundel Gold and a packet of crisps! The bar has two main drinking areas, plus a fairly large beer garden with heaters if the Brighton sun isn’t shining. The food is pretty generic pub grub but I generally don’t come here to eat. Last time I popped in they had just undergone a change of management and were not serving food for the week, it will be interesting to try it again soon. The bar staff are quirky, as are the majority of clientele ranging from hosital staff to punks and hippies(sometimes a combination of all three!) Don’t sit at the table next to the boys loo — it doesn’t smell pretty. Most importantly, there is an NHS staff discount, just show your ID badge.

St Georges Inn Main attraction is the heated beer garden, its distance from town means that its rarely gets uncomfortably packed but is kept busy by locals and of course hospital workers due to it locality to the RSCH. It has a pub grub menu with particularly fab Sunday Roasts. There’s also a regular quiz night along with drinks promos, happy hours etc. It has a very traditional, warm and friendly atmosphere. It’s an absolute gem of a pub.

Drinking cheaply on the NHS… brilliant! The St George’s just off Eastern Road, a stones throw away from the Royal Sussex County hospital is a bargainous find for NHS workers who need to de-stress from the day to day blood and guts. Everyday is a cheap drink day with the production of an NHSID card, we’re talking £2.30 a pint of Fosters, £2.50 for a large wine, everything a doctor or nurse needs at lunchtime! Even for those who are not unfortunate to be employed by the NHS still can pick up a bargain with daily happy hour from 5 till 7. Food is served all day from 12 with regularly changing specials including the best chilli chips in Brighton. Smokers are well accommodated for with a lovely fully heated beer garden that also doubles up as a BBQ area in summer and also an impromptu party area on a hazy Sunday afternoon. This pub is basically a relaxed haven of loveliness with mismatched seating, wooden flooring and cosy nooks and crannies that is perfect for the stressed out worker and the Sunday relaxer alike. Enjoy.

The St George attracts an array of Brighton folk from local bohos to families, although children are only permitted until 8pm, It has a HEATED beer garden which is fab bonus for smokers/friends of smokers. In the summer they often have BBQs and locals come in hoards to soak up some rays in the large outside space. The pub used to specialise in Bangers and Mash but as the trend spread all over the city the St George now offers a selection of more varied pub grub. Its far enough out of town that is rarely horribly rammed but has a nice bustling atmosphere at the weekend.

Previously The Sudeley, the St. George is situated behind the(now closed) Dragon Pub(oh, sweet irony) in a quiet suburban street. Bar staff are incredibly friendly and there is a good sized bar area with plenty of seating and a large, heated, semi-covered beer garden. Food served daily, with a nice selection to choose from, with the Sunday Roasts especially historic. Happy hour available everyday from 4 — 8pm, and offered all day to NHS card holders.(As the hospital is one street over!) There is also a very good quiz night, every other Tuesday, that is well worth joining in on. All in all, one of the best pubs in KempTown. Highly recommended!

This is a great pub tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood. It’s owned by the same personage who owns the Ancient Mariner in Hove(my favourite pub in the UK) so I was bound to like this place. The music is interesting, it’s nicely decorated and it’s perfect for downing pints with good company. There is a section that can be reserved for private parties also.

Traditional pub with a very warm and extremely cozy atmosphere! Open daily with friendly bar tenders and excellent chefs. The pub offers a range of drinks, however no cocktails are served! NHS staff get a good discount for drinks. The pub has a back garden/smoking area, which is always kept warm. Do not miss this great place, which is situated in Kemptown.
