I used to love little bay so I was gutted to have such a crap experience the last time I went. This is not a place to go on a date it’s only a place to go when drunk and with a group of mates! If you do go then make sure you get a decent seat booked as you want to be able to see and hear the opera singer. I took some friends here the other week and they have us the most rubbish booth which was hidden round the corner of the main restaurant so completely excluded us from enjoying the opera singer which is the main reason for going there. We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our starters which is ridiculous and was even more annoying as whenever we asked when it was coming we was told in a minute it’s on it’s way… Would have been better if they was honest with is and apologised for the delay. The hygiene rating here is now zero so that tells you something and my main of pork was stone cold. My friend actually had a piece of wood in her dinner! We ended up not paying for anything but sadly I won’t be returning. It’s a shame as have previously had some great nights at little bay and with decent food too.

It’s not classy, It’s not highly gastronomic… but gawd darn it, I bloody love Little Bay! I’ve been here twice now and it’s hasn’t disappointed on either occasion. I have to admit, having reviewed the menu on the website before my first visit I was filled with trepidation. The food is really cheap, and that means it’s going to be rubbish, right? Wrong. Leave your preconceptions on the doorstep at Little Bay, it is possible to get good quality food without paying through the roof. OK, it’s not going to take your breath away, but for the money it’s good, honest, tasty food. On my last visit I started with crab profiteroles(£4), main was pork belly with a side of braised pork cheek, cabbage and garlic mash(£8) and pudding was banoffee pie(£4) — unbelievable value in my mind. The wine isn’t bad either and the choice is pretty good. But less about the food, this place is really all about the entertainment. Little Bay is an opera-themed restaurant with tables on the ground floor and balconies above. I have to agree with Nathan that some of the balconies don’t have great views, but when the charismatic opera singer climbs up, crawls along the table(luckily we had finished our main course at this point!), and serenades each and every on of us, a view of what is going on elsewhere in the restaurant doesn’t really matter. It probably helped that we were a party of seven girls, encouraging the grey haired Lothario to make repeated visits to our table. He was highly entertaining though, having us in tears at his antics, particularly when he planted a smacker right on my lips! On my previous visit we had a lady opera singer, and although fantastically talented, she wasn’t quite as entertaining as the chap! This is a great place to come for a party if you want somewhere with great entertainment, good service and decent food, all at a very reasonable price.

I’d walked past this place many times and decided that it would be perfect for my sister’s birthday. There were 5 in our group and we had a table from 6.30 to 9pm. My first and biggest gripe was that the restaurant was clearly pimped out for hen parties on a Saturday night, so our small group of 5 were consigned to a booth which faced a staircase and not much else. Now I wouldn’t have minded if this was the sort of place you go to experience the food. However this is clearly an entertainment venue, so having seats where we couldn’t actually see any of the opera massively detracted from the experience. Had that been my only complaint I might have given them a higher score, however the food itself was nothing to write home about. Yes it’s cheap. But my ‘2 kinds of lamb’ dish tasted revolting. Half of it looked like it had come clean out of a Pedigree Chum tin. The starter wasn’t much better. How can you get chicken satay so wrong. There was something very odd with the satay sauce, it had a gooey sticky consistency that didn’t taste of peanut butter. I hadn’t eaten much and decided to risk a dessert. They served banoffee pie with rasberry coulis. Now I’m no food expert, but I’d never had a banoffee pie with a rasberry coulis, and never will again. Awful. I did complain about our seating at the end, and simply got an apology that they had been busy. The opera, from what I heard(not saw), was pretty good. If you do book this place insist on a table with a view, otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

An exceptional restaurant decorated as a plushy theater with balconies as for the former Prince of Wales George made. The prices are moderate considering the artistic between gears a trained singer with a wonderful voice singing opera. The food was okay, but nothing special. Conclusion: Recommended as very unusual.

Wow. Certainly one the of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had… and very unexpectedly so! The menu is so cheap(half price food) that it made me wonder if it would be any good. But not only was the food excellent, but the live opera singer put on an amazing(and funny) show. Not because of his good voice, but because he literally got on(and under) tables with beauitiful women and kissed and serenaded them(with chairs and glasses falling over too!) Go check it out on a friday night when the guy singer is on. You won’t regret it…

Having tried the Little Bay in Croydon we booked at Little Bay(Brighton) for my wife’s birthday. I could try to describe the experience but I don’t think I could do justice to it. It was fantastic, I doubt we have enjoyed a meal out so much. You must go there and see for yourself.
