Why, hello bacon dusted fries! On a whim I went to Brighton/Hove to visit a friend while I was in London for work. Since I did not give my friend much time to plan dinner, we ended up walking around Hove trying to find someplace that served food after 9PM. We did a double take when we walked past the Craft Beer’s door because it was a tiny entrance with not much to draw the eye. The bartender was extremely kind and had a nice hand in his gin and soda skills. My friend and I shared an order of the bacon dusted fries(delicious and way too big for 2 people), I ordered the classic cheese burger and she order a burger covered in peanut butter — I cannot remember the name of it… We spent about 2 hours drinking gin and sodas, devouring our burgers and fries, and having a blast. I wish I lived closer to Hove otherwise I’d be there too much to remain healthy.

If you are a craft beer lover this is the place for you. They have always a wide selection of tasty and interesting craft beers and they often offer you small samples before you decide what you want to order. I have tried the cheese & bacon burger and the lentil & goat cheese burger. Both were good but not fantastic. The décor is a bit too minimalistic for my taste. I give them five stars because I love trying new craft beers and this is the number 1 beer place in Brighton!

Really quality pub. Offers a really wide ranging choice of craft beers at decent prices. Plus the staff are really friendly which I find is a rarity in somewhere this close to the centre. A true haven for proper pub service tied with a quality product.

I was recommended to go here if I wanted a wide selection of beers, so I did and I was not disappointed. Lots of various draft beers here and a good selection of bottled once as well. We did unfortunately not have the time to stay for more than one beer due to TGE, but if I ever go back to Brighton I will definetively go back to this one and try some more beers. Interiour wise I would say I am not their biggest fan, the yellow walls, were a little too yellow for me, but I guess if you have a couple of beers you dont pay attention to the walls anymore. Hoewever bar area looked fresh and the stools/tables were out of wood, so that part I liked. It looked as if their burgers were tasty as well, but we didnt have the time to try it. I am a fan, despite yellow walls:)

This is for sure going to be my new favourite beer spot. Great beer. Cool décor. Dog friendly… I literally couldn’t ask for more. Although, their bacon dusted chips don’t exactly harm their rating either… I’ve been meaning to try this place for such a long time and I am so glad I got the chance to! I met a fellow Unilocaler here(to recommend all the best choices) as well as some of her friends and I was just delighted at every step, really. Firstly, the design of this place is magic. Somehow they’re cool but casual — edgy but familiar at the same time. Everything looks great and it’s slick and modern, but there’s a comfortable charm about the place as well which reeks of an old, local pub. It’s a wonderful combination and it works effortlessly. Secondly, the beer. They have every kind of beer, at every percentage and(most helpfully) they have friendly and knowledgable staff to help you find your perfect match. They don’t even correct you when you order a ‘Number 1′ instead of an ‘N1’, which shows their kindness! :P Being an utter craft beer newbie, this was a great experience and there is definitely going to be a beer here for you, regardless of your taste. Thirdly, the food! I had bacon dusted chips. Yes, you heard me! Bacon dust. As in, 100% bacon. Made into dust. It was an odd concoction but a tasty one nonetheless and if you’re in the mood for chips but don’t fancy being boring this is a great option! The chips themselves were fab — crispy and perfect! Lastly, they allow dogs in here, which(for a dog lover/owner) is the cherry on top, really! Overall, this place is a true gem. It feels like it’s well run and has been well thought out. It’s certainly going to be well loved by me and Bramble, that’s for sue, as I guarantee I will be back to try more of their wonderful beers!

If you like craft beer, this pub has the best selection in the city, hands down. It has recently undergone a revamp of structure(there’s a new upstairs section), menu and staff, which has its pluses and minuses, but the selection of beer on draft is excellent, as is their bottle menu. There’s a new burger menu, replacing the old cheese boards and pies. I will miss a drunken cheese platter FO’ SHO’, but their new sweet potato fries are pretty darn good too. The new set of staff are nice, and still willing to give samples, which is important, considering that many of the beers on tap are 6%+ and it’s nice to try before committing! I do miss the rapport with former members of staff though. But hey, things change. As for the beer, which is really what matters here, there are about 20 beers on tap, with a good split between cask and keg. I’m a keg beer kinda lass, so it is awesome to be able to have the latest Kernel or Magic Rock brew, and even AWESOMER to get the occasional Stone brew from my old California standby favourite. I prefer to get halves of the beers 1. Because you can try more kinds without getting tired of what you’re drinking 2/3s of the way in and 2. As mentioned, these beers don’t eff around. If you want a 7.5% full pint on a school night, that’s your prerogative, but with the readily available halves, you can try that 10.5% stout without wanting to die the next day. That said, it’s pretty easy to get through quite a few of those halfies! The atmosphere is chilled, and on a quiet evening, quite tranquil. The tables are a pretty tooled copper, and there’s lots of natural light. It gets insanely crowded on weekends though, so be prepared. This is particularly intense in the winter when half of the space is taken up by coats and jumpers. But the beer is worth it!

Excellent selection of craft beers from around the world with knowledgeable staff who can guide you to something that would suit your tastes. The new burger menu is delicious, especially sweet potato fries! Great for those who like cider too, with ‘Beesting’ being a strong recommendation and always available.

Great beers, having such great staff is a credit to the company, just need a smoking area to get 5 stars as currently there is just the street.
