What is it with employee-​employer meetings behind a counter when there is a cue with waiting customers…
It seems to be one of the unique selling points of most Starbuckses in the Netherlands. While Anouk was working her ass off getting all orders in, Ilvana was steaming milk like her life depended on it, it was the supervisor and another employee leaning against the back counter going over some of their colleagues.
1. Not hospitable… It is a trainstation so you can expect ppl to be on a limited time thing…
2. Not professional to let your guests enjoy the personnel-​dramas unfolding in their favorite coffee-​joint…
The second star above the minimum 1star is solely for Anouk and Ivana who turned this visit into a nice one. The rest…
Starbucks… Piece of unsolicited advice… Train your staff on general hospitality standards!!!

A typical Starbucks coffee place. Nicely located in the train station of Leiden and therefore easy to reach.
Coffee is as expected from Starbucks. Same goes for the food. They do not have Wi-​Fi which is a bummer for tourists, I could imagine. However, tourists can best buy a Vodafone prepaid sim card and turn on the «1GB Blox» internet bundle. Total cost is around € 12.50. Just an insider tip.

The interior is very nice, and it’s a comfortable place to sit and drink coffee, but the coffee is not even close to good enough to justify paying as much as they charge. There’s a Hema attached to the side of it — their coffee is a fraction of the price, and the quality is comparable in my opinion. The snacks at Hema are also a much better value.
If you’re dead-​set on drinking Starbucks’ coffee, go for it, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend it as there are plenty of other coffee shops nearby the station which are better and cheaper.

Of all of the in-​station Starbucks I’ve been to so far in the NL, I like this one the best. It’s spacious and has plenty of seating. Furthermore, the employees have all been very friendly. Lastly, they do have a free bathroom, which is a nice perk!
