I just completed a wonderful meal here… Starting with an Italian red glass of wine, Pomodori soup and the Risotto with truffles. The food was bursting with flavor and the staff was very attentive. As I sit here now, every seat in the room I’m in is full. Dijkers is sensibly priced for the excellent food on offer. I’m so pleased I walked into their doors this evening! It was probably my best meal during my 2-​week stay in the Netherlands…

A chance stop brought a nice surprise — great sandwiches, large portions, extremely reasonable price. It was a quiet time of day, but service was fine, pleasant and quick. The sandwiches had good sauce or dressing, the wheat bread was excellent, and the atmosphere itself was a mix of funky, turn-​of-​century, local, and youthful. The vases had real flowers in them, there was a good lighting set-​up, and out waitress was very courteous. One of us raved several times about the curried chicken sandwich, while the ‘river crabs’ sandwich had its own virtues. Hard to get one’s mouth around them because they were such generous portions.
We lucked out and stopped here on our way to the Frnaz Hals museum. Hopefully others will do the same.
