L’anders

I had a room at this bed and breakfast which is located right on Grote Markt. I selected it based on price, reviews, and location.
The good: it was around 75 euro. Breakfast was excellent, and location was perfect for exploring Haarlem although it would not have mattered if I was a little off the Markt.
The bad: The room is in the back with windows looking into a brick wall. Ear plugs are provided because anytime a door is opened or closed elsewhere in the BnB a huge noise is made. The restaurant is closed at night on Monday and Tuesday and we had to find a different restaurant for check in.

Great food and very friendly staff. They were nice enough to let us know they didn’t mind my son having a meltdown. And while I appreciated that I was not planning on bothering other people with it. So my wife stayed while I walked around. When it was time to switch so I could finish eating, they didn’t even mind her leaving before I came back in. The wine selection was small but they did a good job with pairings. My meat was well cooked!

I have been there several times. I can assure you that the food is of good quality.
Food isn’t that expensive.
Staff is friendly.
Nice location with view on the «Grote Markt».
I recommend this brasserie to others.

am grote markt, nur ein paar schritte von der grote kerk (die wir leider nicht besichtigt haben, weil wir an dem tag einfach zu fertig waren), liegt die brasserie l’anders. warum wir uns gerade dort hingesetzt haben, obwohl dort ein lokal neben dem anderen ist, wissen wir selbst nicht. letztlich war wohl der name ausschlaggebend.
die bedienung war flott und freundlich und sprach ausreichend deutsch, um uns zu erklären, was bitterballen sind (fleischbällchen, die ungeniessbar heiss an den tisch gebracht werden, nach einer zehnminütigen abkühlphase aber superlecker schmecken). dazu gab’s bier, rotwein und strassenmusikanten.
die inneneinrichtung ist recht hübsch, im sommer sollte man aber draussen sitzen und dem bunten treiben zuschauen.
vier sterne für eine schöné verschnaufpause.
