Despite having made a reservation days ahead; upon arrival we were told we dont have one. I asked if the name was maybe misspelled but without even looking at the list, the lady at reception kept saying ‘no reservation, we are full’. I then proceeded to look at the list and did found my name. It was indeed misspelled and on the list. Nevertheless we were told there is no space. Unhelpful, unreliable and not professional at all.

Went to all 3 locations while on my trip and this was the first one we visited. This one is definitely the best one. Food was fresher and delicious to be an AYCE place. Service is quick and wait staff is friendly. I recommend.

Not sure why I ended up eating here as I am not a huge fan of «all you can eat» places. sumo is a large chain with several restaurants in the Netherlands where you have the choice of either eat till you drop or order a la carte. Somehow food binging always feels like the right choice in this places but don’t be fooled, as their menu is mainly composed of rice items or very filling options you will never get to eat the 2 hours you have. Rolls and sushi are very average and nothing is very elaborated here. If you a very very very hungry this might be your place but I certainly know it is not mine. It’s hard to find good sushi places in Amsterdam but if that is what you are after, there are much better options than this one.

Heaven on earth for sushi fans. Delicious sushis, very quick service, very polite waiters/waitresses, very reasonable prices. I am now addicted to this restaurant chain. I strongly recommend crispy rolls. The concept is all you can eat but I have not been able to ordee anything for the fifth round ever.

The Unilocal reviews for their other Amsterdam locations were consistently four stars, so a colleague and I decided to give it a shot; I hadn’t seen that it is All-You-Can-Eat sushi, something I didn’t expect to find in Europe. AYCE is typically awful and I try to avoid it; I cringed when we sat down and found out, but we stuck with it and were pleasantly surprised. The rolls did not skimp on fish and, although basic, were tasty. Compared to any other AYCE sushi I’ve had, this wins on quality. The menu lacked variety when it comes to sushi, but made up for it with tons of other stuff including tempura, udon, ramen, teriyaki, and more. We never felt bored when ordering, and all of the items were good; some were very very good. And I loved their approach to AYCE: five small items(one item = 3 pcs sushi, 1pc nigiri, 2pc tempura, etc.) per person per round, with unlimited rounds. It felt more like unlimited tapas than a smörgåsbord, and my colleague and I both remarked that one of the typical downfalls of AYCE sushi is that you order a bunch all at once and then they bring out an almost overwhelming plate or two, by the end of which you’re stuffed. The Sumo approach meant that we had much better control over quantity and didn’t overeat, which meant that we were spared the gross, bloated feeling which often accompanies AYCE. And all of that for little more than you’d pay for unlimited sushi in, say, Tulsa Oklahoma. In short, it’s not the best sushi ever, but it was the most enjoyable serendipitous All-You-Can-Eat experience I’ve ever had, and that’s worth four stars in my book.

We went there on New Year’s Day and chose the«All you can eat» dish. The Rating is a tough call! The«All you can eat» dish costs 27.80 € because we had Diner on a bank holiday day. One thing we did not know in advance you just have a certain time to spend at the restaurant. In our case around 1.5 hours. Also you have to finish your placed order prior to order more of the delicious Sushi or grilled stuff. And you are just allowed to order each person 5 items on the menu. Though one item of the menu can e.g. be three California Makis. One negative aspect during our stay was that our orders, mainly the Maki, took too long regarding you just have a restricted stay in the restaurant. Our second Maki order took longer than 25 minutes until serving. The first order was a little bit quicker. The third and final order was the extremely quickest Maki order because we were close to have to leave the restaurant. The other orders were served pretty quick. Another negative experience was you are just able to order small(was it 0.2 l or 0.3 l ?) drinks. But the amount of food you get is awesome. Beside the mentioned Maki or Nigiri you get lot’s of different kinds of grilled meat and they are so tender — Wonderful. It’s not the cheapest Diner but it was really delicious. It is absolutely recommendable, if you keep in mind that you will definitely order lot’s of sodas and that the waiters want you to finish on time because the next visitors are already waiting at the entrance to get your seat.
