Was not a fan. The teppanyaki was tasteless and the meal was expensive. I ordered the Deshima entrée. Which including an appetizer(seaweed salad), salad, soup(which I didn’t get), shrimp(which was fine), fried rice(the worst I ever had), fish entrée(sea wolf, which is similar to sea bass) and desert(vanilla ice cream). The fish was rubbery and tasteless, the chicken fried rice was cooked with dark meat instead of white meat and was over cooked. I would not recommend this place.

We ditched our previous dinner reservations elsewhere for NYE and walked off the street here. They were fully booked out but then discovered they only had one table left or bar seating. We took the last table. I came here because the Unilocal reviews looked promising but we had an unfortunately disappointing experience here. We were able to order from both sushi and teppanyaki menus although we didn’t sit at a teppanyaki table, it was cooked and prepared on an empty one across the restaurant. Not that we cared much. We ordered a mixture of nigiri and teppanyaki. One of the worst Japanese restaurants we’ve been to so far in Amsterdam. Seriously regretted dropping our previous reservation plans for this place. Firstly we ordered the nigiri with no wasabi but it contained it anyway. I was reluctant to request them to send it back but they took it away before we could say anything to replace it. But you never know at that point… The nigiri was like sashimi on tiny balls of rice. The fish slice was inappropriately thick and large that it slid off easily and dwarfed the rice component underneath… so the end result once you started to feast was a deconstructed sushi. To top it off, the fish was rubbery and nasty tasting. The teppanyaki was hands down the most foul tasting we’ve ever tried. For starters it tasted like beef when we know we ordered lamb! The meat was overcooked and devoid of any flavour so we didn’t end up finishing it, we didn’t even want to continue a single bite. It really wasn’t worth digesting. The worse part was the undeserving high cost of our meal at the end. Never wanted to eat and run so bad, that didn’t deserve our money! Not recommended. At all. Ever.

A MUSTEAT when u r in Amsterdam! Recommends: Crab Salad(Starter), the whole lobster, steak and duck, and also the shrimps and gambas are super delicious!

Lovely teppanyaki, friendly staff and(most of) the chefs know how to have fun with it. Been here several times over there years and never leave hungry or unsatisfied. A nice place for a cozy meal with your other half or to bring a big group. There’s plenty of choices for your teppan meal whether you want to just spend a bit or you want to splurge and go for a meal including lobster and the finest meats. Haven’t tried the sushi, though. A bit on the pricey side but the quality is worth it.

Best Sushi and Tepan in this area of the city. When stay in this area we dine here, even the kids were impressed with the quality, and they are sushi fanatics.

Good sushi and excellent Teppan-Yaki. It’s pricey, but the ingredients are very good quality. When I worked here I would come for the sushi and was never disappointed. I’d seen the teppan tables in the back, but figured I wanted to be with several people to enjoy it. Each of my previous trips had been with just one coworker. While my wife was here, we decided to have the teppan-yaki. I expected it to be the circus show we have in America. What a pleasant surprise. It ended up being a number of small courses cooked in front of us with no show. There was a group of US tourists at a different table that apparently wanted the show. I saw the chef tossing shrimp that were to be caught in the diners mouths. Later I saw the big flame on the grill. So, it appears you may be able to have it «your way» so to speak. We preferred having good food prepared with a minimum of fuss.

I had a lovely meal of nagiri sushi with sashimi and started out with tempura. It was all very fresh and very delicious. There were just two of us but next time we’ll bring a bigger group and try the teppan yaki. That was very popular the night we were there. I will be back soon to try some of the maki rolls on the menu! The service was friendly and attentive. We were served very quickly.
