Sooo… I don’t know if I came on an off-night. I read all the great reviews both on Unilocal and on Resident Advisor, and I’m a HUGE techno fan so I booked the 2016NYE party while my husband and I were in Europe. The party started at 11 pm and at 10:58 pm, all the guests were lined up outside still waiting in 30 degree, windy weather, for them to open their doors. How does a NYE party start at 11 pm? Anyway, they opened their doors right around 11 pm but they were still finishing up I guess so they didn’t let us go in until 11:10pm. Once we were inside, all the bartenders and staff were still rushing around setting everything up. We did get free champagne at midnight though. The DJ was really mehhh but it was more because I didn’t like that style of music. parties go on until 5 am here. Very hard to miss, small entrance. Lockers for your belongings — bring a 1 euro coin. The lockers are big, we got two big coats in there.

If you have an unbiased obsession for hard underground techno and poor interiors, this has been the place to go for the past 10 years.

Good music, only 6 euro before midnight. The dance floor is spacious and the crowd is lively. A lot of Dutch students it seems, some on the younger side.

I went to Studio 80 to see Joris Voorn, I had a great night, and this is by far one of the best clubs I have been to in Amsterdam so far. It was great techno, although I would hardly call the club itself underground, but I guess compared to most places in Amsterdam it is as good as it gets. The crowd were friendly and there was generally a good vibe going on, however it was very very crowded and not much room to dance(although we managed!!). If you are planning on going I would definitely recommend you buy your tickets in advance as we had to wait an hour to get in, and the presales line went much faster. Also one tip for the management I would have is get more toilets!!! Unless there are some hiding somewhere I didn’t find there was only about 5 for women in the whole place and lining up took ages.

At the moment Studio 80 is THE underground techno /minimal /electro /tech-house club of Amsterdam. Don’t go here if you expect a posh club with models, vip tables(blegh) and bottles of champagne. This is a club where it’s all about the music. With 2 areas where artists like Luciano, Reboot, Rripperton, Raresh, Tobi Neumann, Andre Galuzzi, Mathias Kaden, Lemos, Dandy Jack, Mike Shannon, and Amsterdam locals like Lauhaus, Boris Werner, Flowing, Ille bitch and Unders perform Studio 80 always manages to rock the crowd. The management clearly know what it’s doing: not only book they big famous names, they always try to get upcoming artists as well.
