Decided to take my wife here for Valentines Day dinner and we were very happy with our experience. Our server was a delight; always attentive and very helpful in aiding us with our selections. The food was presented creatively and also tasted amazing. The best feature of our evening was the atmosphere. There are a few seating options, each of which give you a different dining experience. We opted for a table in a more secluded area of the restaurant but there are also window side tables which overlook all of the beauty that Rembrandtplein has to offer. Food prices were slightly below average for the area. We ordered two appetizers, two entrees, one dessert, two cocktails, and a bottle of wine for € 82. I highly recommend checking this place out the next time you are in Amsterdam.

We were here for a work-sponsored event and I was actually impressed with the service, meal and décor. I’m not sure what my expectations were, but I’m happy to say they were met and exceeded. We ordered the carpaccio and coconut milk soup. That was followed by steak and salmon, topped with sorbet and crème brûlée. The house white tastes of juice… so I nearly drank a whole bottle myself. Great view of the Rembrandtplein — I’d go again :)

My husband & I read about De Kroon in a magazine in our hotel and decided to give it a try. We were seated on the patio with a great view of Rembrandtplein. The service was the best(and most attentive) we’ve had here in Amsterdam.* Our meal started with a complimentary shot of gazpacho. We then ordered the mustard soup(yum!) and the veal & shrimp and ravioli(yum & yum) entrees. The chef did an amazing job with blending the flavors! We topped off our meal with the flaming crème brûlée. Because our seats were on the terrace, we were entertained by a quintet and then a group of amazing acrobats. It was great for people watching! The inside décor was a bit too macabre for me. But this was by far the best meal we’ve had in Amsterdam(this is Day 3 for us). *Customer service in the restaurants are lacking in Amsterdam in general. So we were pleasantly surprised to have three people wait on us.

Like some others, I haven’t eaten here but my 5-star review is for the salsa nights(Wednesday & Sunday). This is easily the best salsa social in Amsterdam(rivalled, perhaps, only by Summer Breeze… but this is year-round!). If you come 3 or more times, you’ll start to recognize the(lovely) crowd of «regulars» and it won’t take long before you feel right at home here. Yes, it gets crowded around 10:30 but the crowd thins out again around 11:30 as people leave to get the last tram. So come by bike — and enjoy!

I like De Kroon as a hang out place with my friends. We have drinks, we chat and when it’s later in the night we dance. The thing that makes me come back is the interior: spacious, high ceilings and totally different from the other bars in the area. Had dinner here once, but I really don’t remember it being special and so this place continues to be my spot for drinks only. Staff sometimes forgets about you when you sit in the back of the hall. Had several times when it took some effort to get a drink. Still ok though. There’s a bar, tables, sofas and big comfy chairs so there’s something for every mood.

De Kroon is a fun place to go salsa dancing in Amsterdam. Free dance lessons and social dancing afterward make this a popular place among locals. I don’t speak Dutch but I found the lessons to be pretty straightforward to follow. A couple things worth noting are that this place does get crowded and that it ends a bit early(around midnight or so). But given the quality of the crowds and the free lessons and cover charge, there is no reason to complain. I found the dancers here to be pretty aware of their surroundings(unlike other venues) so despite the crowds, you are able to dance comfortably.

Blue light are up along the long entrance way and a plush staircase leads you up to De Kroon. There are many good things to say about De Kroon. To start with, Wednesday and Sunday are Salsa nights from 9:30PM onwards! For the Salsa fans, this is a deal maker. Nice thing is you don’t have to be particularly good at it, just learn a couple of moves and be happy dancing it. You can also slip to the sides and just watch or sit out in the long bar if you don’t want to dance anymore. Friday and Saturday nights are sort of club nights. Furthermore, De Kroon is entrance free, always. It is a big restaurant for the rest of the time.

A découvrir absolument!
