I don’t get it. A friend of ours told us this was the best falafel she had ever had. She’s addicted to it — goes a couple times a week. But she did warn us about the woman working there — she said the woman was super mean and rude. But we lived in Prague, we’re used to bad customer service(o so we thought). And we got it. Upon entering, we were treated very poorly by the woman, which didn’t make us very happy. Sonny came around the corner and saved the day. We were ready to just leave because guess what? We work too hard to give money to people that treat us like shit. So, we sat there with our falafel sandwiches and thought they were fine. Not worth the hype. And as long as that woman works there, we won’t return. If you’re going to be rude, you better sell a stellar item that can’t be purchased at a million other places in town.

I very much like this restaurant. While I would enjoy it better if the store front was not open and thus cold for seating, the food was great! The worker/owner(?) made sure we enjoyed everything, asked if it was good(yes!), and helped answer our questions. He did speak English. You have a choice of falafel and french fries. You choose the toppings. You can get peanut sauce on fries made in-house. This sauce tasted very good as he let us sample it. Afraid that it would be too filling, we got the sauce that also doubles as sauce on the falafels. I will opt for less spicy options next time if there is one – I hope so! Definitely a must if you’re in the area!

Amazing falafel! Best I’ve ever had. And great location eating on a fun and lively pedestrian street. The fries are also great, but no one ever needs to order the large — probably ever. Unless you’re crazy hungry and crazy about fries. The large is HUGE. But dang, that falafel.

While visiting Amsterdam this was my food spot. The falafel is amazing and not bad priced for the city. The fries are fresh cut and amazing so many different choices of sauces to put on your fries. The salad bar for your pita is really fresh and a side selection hands down it was my favorite spot. They just need to stay open later they close at 9pm

Great selection if condiments, very tasty and the price is reasonable for the budget-minded.

The owner told me before I ordered that he made the best falafel… In the world. That was quite a reputation to live up to, so I decided to give it a try. The falafel is fresh with a choose your own toppings bar. What’s not to love? I recommend adding anything pickled. Oh. And the eggplant spread if they have it(it’s not quite baba ganoush. It’s better.)

Best falafel Ive ever had. Genuine, oriental food with excellent standard and a big variety of fillings, sallads, tapenades and sauces. Fries are AMAZING. Friendly atmosphere, authentic, flavour explosion! Best hangover food in De Pijp!(And for any other occasion, as well.)

To my surprise the other day I had not reviewed Sonny yet. Funny to me because I have been there countless times. I and find it’s the best falafel and friets in the city. Well now that I say that, it’s the best I’ve had in any city. Let me say that this is dangerously close to where I live. A place like this should be many kilometers away to make it more challenging to get such a good cheap meal. Luckily for me it is close though. Now I have food which is healthy, vegetarian, delicious and inexpensive at my disposal. Sonny is a great place to get your falafel fix. There are two other places in the city which are also quite good, but Sonny trumps those no problem. It works like some of the other falafel specific places where you pack your full of veggies and sauce. Note: be careful with the extra hot sauce. Even for somebody like myself who loves spicy food it packs a punch. I highly recommend getting it’s with the addition of smashed Eggplant. Sooooo good. If you are looking for fries as well sunny does them up perfectly and they even seem healthy. A falafel and small fries is almost too much to eat. I do often give it my best shot though. The one thing I did find strange, then it moved to quirky, and now is funny, the staff. During the day there is often a lady who works which has a strong opinion and the need to tell to you how to make the perfect falafel. She has tried on many occasions to convince me not to eat the extra hot sauce and then smiles with acceptance when I say I enjoyed it afterwards. In the evening or most other times a man is this working there. He is a quiet serious type person. All business. On the off chance you do catch him on a good day or coax a smile out of him it’s pure gold. If you’re trying to decide between two places for a meal or want to try something new go to Sonny. I haven’t met a person yet or anyone I’ve taken there who hasn’t given it five stars.

i’m just gonna go ahead and call the guy,(who i assume is the owner because the framed newspaper photo is him) a falafel nazi and his stuff is the bomb. why i call him the falafel nazi. well he never ever broke one smile when taking our order and he told us very firmly only one trip to the salad. no more! of course we pretended like we didn’t hear that part and went twice but he definitely sternly told us ONETRIPONLY, but he still let us dive in again :) we ordered a falafel sandwich on the brown bread and a small frites which is huge. the items on the salad bar are sooo good and yummy, how can one only make one trip??? i would even say the toppings are better than Maoz. we got the falafel, frites and a soda and it was only 10 euros and enough for two people. fast, healthy and delicous food! not much seating here so you might have to stand.

Best and most affordable vegetarian/vegan option around. Fast and easy and the salad/sauce options that others have mentioned are awesome with some great spicy-as-hell choices. A few seats that are good for people watching on a day with no rain and take away is easy.

Chips not bad. Plenty of sauces. Staff very friendly. I would go order their chips when I am in De Pijp!

We were in Amsterdam for vacation and I was in falafel heaven! Each corner we turned there was a restaurant or a fast food joint that served falafels and shwarma. Knowing me, I looove this kind of food! So we walked into Sonny and ordered a Falafel Pita and I swear it was the best falafel I’ve ever had in my ENTIRELIFE!!! Ever since I’ve gotten back home to the states, I’ve been on a falafel rage and have been to a number of restaurants and fast food joints, and all their falafels disappoint. I wish I was back in Amsterdam so I can have just one more Falafel Pita *sigh*

Sonny is famous for their fast service, delightfully falafels and all you can eat buffet. Take a few bites and fill up with more salad, chick peas and usually fresh veggies. It has plenty of vegan options. Talk about an affordable meal for lunch or dinner. Take falafel sandwiches and fries to go, or to eat in, bar-style at the 5 or 6 seats available. I have tried falafels from LA, Atlanta to Amsterdam and I thought this location specifically had the best falafels! I am allergic to flour, so I enjoyed the falafels without the bread.
