This restaurant was my favorite restaurant I found during my trip to Amsterdam. Definitely a perfect place for brunch as its cute, cheap, and right along one of the canals. The prices defied the expensive stereotype of Amsterdam, and the food was absolutely amazing! I got the salmon sandwich and one of the pita breads, not knowing that the pita was basically a meal in itself. Came on Friday around noon and we were one of the only ones there, but came back on a Sunday and we couldn’t be seated because it was packed!

Came here for brunch on a Saturday. It was crowded but we didn’t have to wait for a table. The open-faced sandwiches are huge, worth the € 7,50. The bread was the best part on the sandwich and both my boyfriend and I were stuffed after each ordering one. I got smoked salmon and cream cheese and he got smoked chicken, cheese, and bacon. Lots of natural lighting and upstairs seating as well.

This place is sooooooo good!!! My boyfriend and I are traveling and are such huge foodies. We walked in and it was a super cute place. The waitress was really sweet and friendly. There were a lot of options on the menu. It definitely wasn’t easy picking the sandwich that I wanted! So many choices. Everything was super fresh and GREEEEN. I’d def revisit next time I find myself in Amsterdam!

This was a nice alternative to Gartine(couldn’t get a table there as walk ins). It is a cozy little café serving fresh, delicious open faced sandwiches. I commented to my husband the tomatoes(sadly) taste so much better here than what we get back at home. If it’s warm enough out you can sit right alongside the canal. Being that we are in December we didn’t go that route but we did snag seats facing out the front window which was very nice watching Amsterdam go by. Friendly service and everything is priced just right. No overpriced menu items here! I miss Amsterdam already.

This is a small typical café. The food is just ok, but I wouldn’t say 4 stars as the current rating suggests. I think what wins people over is sitting outside by the canal — at that point anything tastes better ;). Mind you there are only a couple seats outside.

Nice place. Our first lunch in Amsterdam! Very impressed with their large, tasty baked sandwiches and outdoor patio by the canal. Good coffee too

Ate an early lunch here. Staff was friendly, a bit slow but that is typical for European service. I had a croissant and the bacon, melted Brie, and walnuts hot sandwich. It was good, big portion!

Went with 5 friends and had to wait a little bit for a table by the canal. 3 of us got the singelclub, aquaclub and the club xtra and split them. Well worth the wait. Knocked it out of the park.

Went here for lunch with 5 of my friends. Had to wait a little because the place is really small and there is not many places to sit but it was worth the wait. The sandwiches are so good. We got 3 different club sandwiches and split them all and everyone one was delicious. Would defiantly recommend this place for lunch.

We had a nice lunch, turkey with avocado, sun dried tomato and rocket lettuce and great whole wheat bread. Very nice outdoor seating on the canal and very pleasant service. Very reasonable prices.

Super cute brunch place. They have a large menu, so you won’t have trouble finding what you want. Actually, if you like eating everything like me then you will have a hard time choosing what to eat – I was staring at the menu for about 10 minutes expecting the food to just pop out the menu and into my mouth. The portions are big that I could barely finish my plate. Insert heart-eyed emoji.

Really nice place. The quality of food was mouth watering. Great bagels. Had the tuna melt and it was perfect. Staff was very friendly, always remaining calm and professional during very busy period. Not sure if it is possible to reserve a table, but if it is, do so. Otherwise be prepared to wait for 15 – 30 minutes. It’s worth it though! Thanks

Really great food and good service. We sat in the sun right on the canal’s edge, ate delicious croissants, drank fresh squeezed juice, and sipped on hot tea. It was an idyllic morning that would not have been possible without Singel 404

Tasty fresh sandwich — had the Singelclub. Fresh bread, yummy cherry tomatoes, great bacon … all good. Had a bit of a wait at 1pm but found a table to share upstairs. Quick service and reasonable lunch! Would go again.

I was trying to hit up some of the other brunch places in the area but they were all filled/booked when I arrived around 11am on Sunday… Singel 404 had good Unilocal reviews so I decided to take a look at this place and wasn’t disappointed. I wasn’t too hungry so I just got the yogurt fruit mix smoothie and the ham and aged cheese pita. Price was good, and the food was quite solid. Their menu had a large variety of other types of sandwiches that actually looked quite spectacular from what I could gather form the other people who ordered those sandwiches. Pretty solid place with nice waitstaff, I liked it!

Great Sunday brunch at Singel 404. We had a panini with cream cheese, lettuce, avocado, courgette, sundried tomatoes and pine nuts, and an oven-warmed bagel with pesto, ham, brie, grilled courgettes and sweet peppers: both were really good, with the right reasoning and fresh products. And the choice on the menu is just ridiculous: it took me 10 minutes before I was able to decide among all delicious temptations! Coffee and tea were alright. They have seating on the first floor, on a mezzanine upstairs, and a few tables outside along the canal, which should be really nice in a warm day. About the service, I found all waitresses nice, but it is true that the food took quite some time to arrive, and they made several mistakes in our drinks order(brought something that we did not ordered, and later forgot something that we did). Not the most pleasant of course but I didn’t think it was really bad.

OMGSOGOOD! If I lived in Amsterdam I would come here everyday! The food and drinks were amazingly delicious and a good bang for your buck! I left full and completely satisfied. I went over the New Years Holiday so kind of expected it to be crowded, had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table upstairs. It was kind of awkward standing in the middle of the restaurant while there were people at tables on both sides, and as more and more people came in it got even more awkward. But, no one seemed to care. They have a little«bar» you can wait at too if you want. I ordered the chicken with brie open faced sandwich and a baileys hot chocolate. I debated over getting one of there smoothies since they were known for them but I was craving baileys. Wish I did, now that I think of it. I’m really big on presentation of food and I was delighted! The hot chocolate was so cute with a big mound of whip cream on top and a little choc chip cookie on the side. My sandwich was a good size too and super super yummy. Definitely go try this place if your in Amsterdam. It’s in a really central part of town on Singel street, the metro drops you off real close and right across the street is the famous Lanskroon bakery which is known for there Stroopwaffles and then right across from that is the 420 café. So you can hit all 3 great places! The waitress and other staff were really nice as well. You pay your bill downstairs at the«bar.»

Total addition 26 € !! A conseiller vraiment? On repassera

Wow. What a great find! When staying in central Amsterdam, I’ve found that a good breakfast/brunch spot can mean a bit of a trek outside central — Not wanting to travel far, I was determined to find a good spot less than a mile from our airbnb. After two disappointing mornings this past weekend of finding Gartine booked up, my partner and I wandered a little ways down the canals looking for someplace that would be serving a late brunch with a bit of a view. Singel 404 looked unimposing, with a small seating area inside and some riverside tables across the road — the amount of local traffic coming through made us think it might be a good spot to check out for a noon brunch. And I’m so glad we did. Drinks: Hands down the best fresh squeezed orange juice I’ve ever had. My only regret is not getting the large — definitely give it a try! Coffee: After a couple disappointing coffee runs in other Amsterdam cafes, I was quite pleased with my black coffee Food: Though a number of the sandwiches looked appealing, I decided to go for the Singel special — Eggplant, zucchini, fresh mozzarella, cucumbers, homemade pesto, tomatoes — etc. Immediately after ordering, I had major buyers remorse — why was I buying a sandwich for breakfast?! But wow, I’m so glad I did. The sandwich came out openfaced and loaded with veggies — and so incredibly delicious — perfectly done, there was an explosion of taste in every bite. My partner, on the other hand, had the fried eggs with tomatoes and bread — He too was totally smitten with his choice and for the first time ever we were both perfectly content to each go about having our own meals totally delighted with our picks. Will definitely be looking to come back here next time we are in Amsterdam, a perfectly located brunch/lunch spot.

Had the open face sandwich. It was ok. There were no seats outside near the canal. Most people here are tourists that we saw. The service is very«Dutch»(non-existent). They are nice enough but are in no hurry to take your order, get you a glass of water or bring anything to you.

I was quite pleasantly surprised by this little café! We were looking for a nice lunch spot on a cold, windy day, and I had found this place on tripadvisor. It’s called Eetcafe on Google, but the store sign only says Singel 404. We actually stopped by Broodje first, which is only a block away across the canal. It was a pretty small location and had a pretty small menu. We decided to try Singel 404 instead, which was a great decision. The interior was very casual and cozy, and the wait staff were all very nice and patient with us as tourists. They have a menu in both Dutch and English too, which was very convenient. I imagine they are most known for their open faced sandwiches, which is what most customers were ordering. Also try the fresh mint tea(very common beverage in Amsterdam) and their smoothies. Although the sandwiches sound pretty ordinary on the menu, they look and taste even better than how they sound on the menu. And mind you, they already sound good on the menu, but they taste great! The sandwiches were served with a heaping amount of colorful ingredients that was very fresh and refreshing. Highly recommended for lunch; you won’t regret it.
