Broodje Bert

This is a good place for breakfast or a sandwich. It’s just a very small, corner shop, so don’t expect fancy. But there are outside tables. For the price, it is great. We found this on our first morning and have had breakfast there every morning since. Ham, cheese and egg open face sandwich was good. Melted ham and cheese was better. This morning was the best with fried eggs with ham and cheese, excellent! Two meals and two coffees for about 15 euros is a deal. Inside counter space is very limited, but they have outside tables on the canal, just a little uneven.

Go here for breakfast or lunch. They have a great menu, casual atmosphere, good service and very reasonable prices. You can sit inside, outside in front of the restaurant or right next to the canal. Either way it’s a great place for breakfast or lunch.

Damm that was good, some type of melted goat cheese thing, that I will dream of for years. Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is do to the location in the touristy are if Amsterdam, but the food itself was great.

My favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. Great omelettes, reasonable price, fresh bread and juice.

We stopped in quickly while looking for a simple lunch. This place has fantastic salads with everything and the omlettes are served well past lunch. The portions are huge! I was left so stuffed from a Suis Omlette that I barely ate anything for dinner. It was definitely worth it though.

Perfect views of the canal and people watching while enjoying a delicious breakfast of ham, egg, and cheese sandwich and coffee. Very reasonably priced — 15 euro for 2 people.

We only had time for a few short meals on our whirlwind 24 hour trip to Amsterdam and I am so happy that I chose to come to Broodje Bert on the recommendations of all you fine Unilocal folks. We arrived early on a Thursday morning and ordered two coffees, bacon and eggs and a brie and tomato open sandwich. Sitting down at two of the 7 – 8 seats in the establishment, we were able to check out our surroundings. Broodje is located on a corner next to the canal with all the seats facing out the windows to watch the world go by (on bikes I might add, lots of bikes).
The meals arrived and my goodness were they huge! My sandwich was a short baguette served open face, covered in sliced tomatoes, peppers and brie. A fresh and colorful side salad occupied the rest of the plate. His had at least 4 – 5 eggs and was covered in beautiful thin sliced bacon with another baguette sliced below it all to soak up any of the runny orange yolks. I considered myself proud to eat half of my sandwich and my full salad. But the part that awed me the most was the cost after coming from Paris (or New York City). These easily could have sold for 12 – 15 $ being the size they were. But no, only 5 – 6 euro each. Great deal for a filling meal first thing in the morning before you go exploring the city. Enjoy!

Wow! Great! Husband had BLT and I had egg sandwich — his was better because bacon — but both were ample and delicious!!! Cool place. Go there.

OMG! Probably the best omelet I’ve ever had! Decided to be gluttonous and ordered the ham, cheese and bacon omelet. And WOW! Of those three ingredients, the star of the omelet was the egg. Cooked to perfection. Absolutely perfect. I want to go back!

Me and my friend had two melted sandwiches: the goat cheese one and the brie one. Huge portions and great service. Very good prices: 8 EUR for a cappuccino and a sandwich ;) I will be back!

The burger, which is deconstructed, was unbelievable. Totally unexpected. It blew me away, everything was so simple yet so sublime. Nice people, and nice view while eating. Fairly priced as well.

The portions are sizable (for Amsterdam), so come here with an appetite! We liked the two house specials: grilled chicken filet and Broodje Bert Burger’ (grilled lamb). Both were served on a pile of wild greens, tomato, and fresh corn with ciabatta bread on the side.

We came here on our last day in Amsterdam. I had randomly found it on Unilocal while browsing for a breakfast spot. This place is the cutest little quant place. We sat at the breakfast bar looking outside thru the glass to the street with locals biking to work and all the beautiful unique shaped buildings and canals. I ordered the omelette and also I ordered the melted brie sandwich with walnuts and honey. I also ordered their coffee. The plate/​serving size were massive! Also it came with fresh bread and a homemade salad! I was really impressed by this place and would have to say it was one of my favorite. The omelette came with this smokey mayo sauce? I’m not sure how to describe it, but it was magnificent. You really must try it!

We came here for an early morning breakfast and it was delicious!!! We had the the sandwich with melted goats cheese, honey & walnut as well as the salami, cheese, tomato & onion. We also ordered coffee and hot chocolate, all for about 16 euros — quite reasonable in our opinion. The café is right beside the canal which also made for an enjoyable viewing while we ate.

Les assiettes sont bien garnies et appétissantes, on a pas l’impression de manger «juste un sandwich» et ça fait tout de suite plus «élaboré» avec l’accompagnement de crudités. Et tout ça pour un prix dérisoire.
J’ai goûté le chèvre-​miel-​noix, un délice !
Bön, je risqué de répéter les avis précédents, mais quand on dit «pas de place» c’est vraiment pas de place ! On mangerait presque dans l’assiette du voisin…
Ah et pas de toilettes non plus, avis aux touristes pressés… ;)

Best Breakfast in Amsterdam!
My husband and I were traveling throughout Europe for our honeymoon and had some great breakfasts here and there but by far this place was the best breakfast we had on our entire trip!
The ingredients they used are so fresh and so clean. It’s a family business and I can really tell they work hard into making quality foods here. There is a lot of variety of options and price is very reasonable. It’s a small place but the food portions are huge!
My husband ordered the fried egg with bacon and I ordered the ham, cheese, tomato open faced sandwich. Both were phenomenal! Seriously, just so tasty and delicious. Do yourself a favor and have your breakfast or brunch here!

The presentation, quality and value was Excellent from start to finish.
The Brie was paired with honey and walnuts on a dark rye bread roll. The Omlette was made with gruyère cheese and good quality bacon slices that were cooked but not crispy. Both meals were paired with a tasteful, colorful salad that tasted great and I’m not usually a huge fan of salads.
finally, the cheesecake was creamy and had a wonderful cherry sauce topping. even if you’re like me and don’t like cherry, You’ll be able to appreciate this cheesecake.

Un lugar fenomenal para hacer un alto en el camino cuando estés de turismo por Ámsterdam y comer bien a un económico precio. Broodje Bert se especializa en sandwiches muy variados, con huevos fritos, tortillas, carne… hay una panel en el local bastante grande donde se expone todo el menú.
No imaginaba que un sitio tan sumamente pequeño pudiera ser tan productivo y tan ágil. Dentro casi nunca hay sitio, y en la calle el espacio es limitado, con suerte puedes hacerte con una mesa con vistas al canal, ya que casi siempre está lleno a la hora de comer. Ocupa una pequeña pero pintoresca esquina muy frecuentada por legiones de bicicletas y frente a uno de los puentes que cruzan los canales.
Yo probé el sandwich de mozzarella y tomate al pesto, que estaba superior, y además las raciones son muy grandes a muy buen precio. Optamos, ante la falta de sitio, por sentarnos al borde de un canal a comer mientras contemplábamos tranquilamente el entorno protagonizado por el Singel y sus yates y barcas.

A nice breakfast place with character! I ordered a plate of fried egg with bacon, and it was amazing! You might ask what’s so special about a simple plate of eggs and bacon?
First, the portion is HUGE! I went and eat at around 10.30 and it kept me full for the whole day (i skipped lunch). Second, the bacon is so thin and crisp. It is the yummiest part of the plate. Last but not least, it comes with Salad! As a salad lovers, it’s mind blowing, with simple combination of lettuce, corn, tomato and arugula (i skipped this, coz it was too strong for my taste)!
For the place, it’s quite small with only around 10 indoor seating and 8 outdoor seating. Though, it wasn’t full when I arrived, you might want to come late morning just to be safe.

We ate at brodtje Bert during our recent trip to Amsterdam and were very happy! It’s a great little location to stop at for some freshly squeezed orange juice or lunch on the canal. My husband had the burger which was absolutely delicious. I would highly reccomend it to anyone. I tried the Brie melt, which was good but a bit heavy on cheese for my taste. If you are a cheese lover, it’s definitely worth a try though.
The restaurant is cash only so come prepared. You can sit outside along the canal which is also nice.

Agréablement surprise par cet établissement dans lequel je né serais jamais rentrée si je n’avais pas consulté Unilocal auparavant (heureusement que Unilocal est la ;)).
Ce resto/​snack mise clairement tout sur la qualité et le prix et pas du tout sur la déco. Très peu de place à l’intérieur, il est préférable de manger dehors pour être plus à l’aise.
Mais goûtez un peu les «sandwichs chauds» !! Un vrai délice! Pas trop de choix (je pense qu’il y en a que 5, le reste ce sont des omelettes/​sandwichs froids) mais ils sont vraiment bons! J’ai goûté le salami, oignons, tomates et le brie/​tomate et j’ai vraiment été surprise par la qualité!
En ce qui concerne les prix, pour la quantité de nourriture ils sont très abordables! 5,5 € pour le sandwich chaud servi avec trois tonnes de fromage, beaucoup d’ingrédients et une grosse salade de crudités !
Le seul hic: pour le brie/​tomate ils né précisaient pas qu’il y avait des poivrons en plus (et personnellement je né les digère pas) alors que pour les autres sandwichs, tous les aliments étaient énumérés sur le tableau noir!
Deuxième hic: no credits cards ! Du coup fallait aller au distributeur et on a mis 20 minutes a en trouver un qui n’était pas hors service!

Excellents sandwichs. Probablement le meilleur rapport qualité prix d’Amsterdam ! Les sandwichs chauds (fondus) sont superbes et les omettes, accompagnées de pain et salade) semblent très bonnes également. Seule petite note négative, l’établissement est très petit (comme beaucoup d’endroits à Amsterdam !) et la gestion de l’espace n’est pas aussi extraordinaire que leurs sandwichs :) De plus, pas de cartes ici, que du cash ! Et le distributeur le plus proche n’est pas juste à côté (et il était en panne lorsque j’y ai été… La joie totale).

When there are so many people waiting to eat, it has to be for a reason.
Large variety of big sandwiches for a reasonable price.
If there is not sit in the terrace, you can order one to take away and enjoy it sitting down in a nearby canal or walking around this wonderful city.

Es ist eine Wucht. Super Auswahl und Mega lecker. Sehr toller Ausblick und im Sommer kann man schön am Kanal sitzen. Immer wieder gern

Super petit brunch ! Très bon moment … Omelette bacon cheese pour 7 euros que demande le peuple ! (petite sauce à tomber par terre)

Das Broodje Bert liegt mitten im Zentrum an einem der Kanäle. Auf gefühlten 5 qm ist es schon ganz schön eng, für die Terrasse war es uns zu windig. Hier zaubern die zwei Jungs für kleines Geld wirklich tolles Frühstück. Alles ist frisch und Wurst & Käse werden sogar vor Augen der Gäste a la Minute geschnitten. Wir hatten dazu einen frisch gepressten Orangensaft und einen Cappuccino. Urig, sehr freundlich, sehr lecker — Top!

Gutes Essen zum guten Preis. Sandwiches zum Selberbelegen und zum getrennt-​essen. Ich hatte mit meiner Frau als Frühstücksmenü einen Kaffee, frisch gespressten O-​Saft, Spiegelei oder Croissant mit Marmelade und schinken und jeweils dazu die frischgebackenen und leckeren Sandwichbrötchen mit Salatbeilage. Sehr gut war auch die auf dem Lavasteingrill gegrillte Hähnchebrust mit Baguette Brot, einem Kräuterdip und Salat für 6,50. Die Preise sind im Vergleich ziemlich günstig und das Essen frisch und gut und das direkt an der Gracht.

Nach einem Stadtbummel stießen wir per Zufall auf Broodje Bert, einem kleinen Sandwich-​Shop im Herzen von Amsterdam, untergebracht in einem urtypischen kleinen Haus an einer ebenso kleinen Gracht.
Die Sonne schien, auf dem Wasser war buntes Treiben und uns trieb der Hunger in die kleine Stube, in der eifrig Sandwich-​Kreationen geschaffen werden. Die frischen Zutaten und Gewürze roch man sofort nach dem Eintreten in das kleine Lokal.
Draußen an der Gracht konnte man sofern man einen Tisch ergatterte herrlich sitzen und nicht nur die Szenerie, sondern auch die köstlichen Gerichte zu fairen Preisen genießen.
Toll, ich komme wieder!

Lecker, gut. Und günstig. Tipps haben wir leider erst im Anschluss gelesen. Essen direkt an der Gracht. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

wirklich ein hübscher laden um eine kleinigkeit zu essen und zu trinken (wobei die portionen wirklich nicht klein sind) ;) sehr nette bedienung und wenn man glück hat, ergattert man einen sitzplatz an der gracht!:) hier wird aber kein alkohol verkauft, also bier gibts nicht zum brot.
