This place has been the worst part of my otherwise wonderful Amsterdam visit. David and Patrick specifically, a night shift manager and front desk clerk are the reason for my continued unsatisfactory stay at this hotel. The hotel promises a 24⁄7 light menu to order from which the on premise restaurant staff as well as Edwin the day shift manager assured us is always available and does not run out and that the front desk is trained to make such items. After working long hours all day and night we arrived back at the hotel to be told that they are completely out of every single item and there is no food in the building for the«24÷7» food service. Yet magically 6am the next morning there was a full continental breakfast and restaurant fully stocked. We told Edwin and he said that’s absurd there is always food here and apologized for the night staff lying to us and offered a late night meal off the menu free of charge to be there for us our second night. Night two we come back from work and ask for room service for a menu to place our order. Same story by Patrick and David. No food, when confronted saying we were promised a meal by Edwin and he said there is always food here, we were ignored and told they don’t want to touch the breakfast food and wouldn’t check to see if there was anything available. It was extremely rude to be treated this Way and then for them to not even bother to see if they could put something together for us after booking 5 rooms for three nights each. Magically again there will be food the next morning without any new delivery, it’s just the front desk being too lazy to accommodate their guest and blatantly lie to our faces. I will make sure to tell everyone visiting the beautiful city to stay away from the awful service at Park Plaza all thanks to Patrick and David.

Had a bad experience at this one. And when we complained, there was no compensation or free breakfast, etc. Double deviation. Started off by booking two of the same rooms, one of them was much smaller than the other, with a chair hidden behind a bed which was unaccessible. No privacy for the toilet. The heaters were turned up to the max and when we opened the windows at night to cool down the room, it smelled like utter shit filling up the room. After that horror night we requested compensation, just a free breakfast and we couldn’t even get that.

After thoroughly searching for a hotel in Amsterdam, I finally found a good rate at this Park Plaza location, and I’m really happy with my choice. The room, located in the building next door, had a mini fridge, which helped with my food budget, a/c and heater, and a comfortable bed. The carpet was a bit shabby however, and the bathroom had a weird layout so water got everywhere no matter what I did. I was travelling«‘90s style,» with no laptop or smartphone, so access to the computer in the lobby was very nice. Also nice was the hotel staff who helped me drag my stuff up and down the stairs, and gave suggestions for shopping and dining. The housekeeper was great as well, and very sweet to my toddler. The neighborhood is very nice. I felt like I was staying in «real Amsterdam,» in that it’s residential, dotted with quiet cafes and bistros with no loud souvenir shops in sight. The Vondelpark is nearby too. It great for running and cycling, and makes for a great way to cut through the city to get to the canals.

After hearing a few negative remarks about this hotel from someone who has stayed here in the past, I was a bit concerned about staying here. However, I can honestly say that this had to be one of the best rooms I’ve ever stayed in. I booked a standard room but as a Club Carlson Gold member I was upgraded to room 23, a jacuzzi suite. The room was massive, and the bathroom, complete with a fantastic jacuzzi, was absolutely amazing! It was also very clean. The bed was a little on the hard side, and it was actually 2 twin beds pushed together, but I did somewhat expect this to be the case. I paid 68 Euros for the room including breakfast through a special offer. Breakfast was adequate, though there were a few rather interesting(ie yucky) condiments on the buffet that look like butter but aren’t. Highly recommended!

Re-call 2011/August. A «mini office» in the room, And most importantly — it had free wifi. let’s start, it started in August 2011– We both arrived too. The customer service/Front desk, we did have an extremely friendly and helpful manner, good Dutchman service. The best location in Amsterdam– next to the main park(Vondelpark) and in the Old South area of the town close to Museums and luxury shopping areas. Brilliant value for the room, it was comfortable’ warm and clean with a good quality queen size bed, spacious. The shower and toilet was a glass– panel cubicle in the middle of the room– unusual but worked very well. Downstairs lobby and bar area are very nicely designed. Nice and quiet rooms with the view towards the park. Tram 2 stops just outside. the access to tram was very handy as it took you into city centre in no time at all. Very quiet residential area. full of history in every corner?! If you are after something like a food-store’ it’s only a walk. really good spots. You can buy your transport tickets at the front desk’ if you need it–«Chip card» :)

Great location right on the edge of Vondelpark, this hotel offers all sorts of different types of rooms in a hotel spread out over a few blocks. Nice, modern furnishings, comfortable bed — unfortunately we couldn’t wake up in time for the breakfast included with our room rate but were told it was tasty. The tram station is very close walking distance, making this hotel placed well in regards to a park and the tourist destinations. Cleaning of the rooms was a bit slow — ours wasn’t cleaned until 4pm but not sure if that was an anomaly. Enjoyed our stay *Be sure to ask for a room with a balcony for the best location & value*.

Clean, modern in a great neighborhood! At a price much lower than Centrum an only a short tram ride away. The neighborhood is off the beaten path but close to Centrum by train. There were many lovely restaurants close by as well. Great customer service and a lovely bar n the premises. Highly recommended.

Quaint, quiet and clean. Stayed here with the boys on our Amsterdam trip. The hotel is removed from the hustle and bustle of the city center, but the #2 line tram stop that runs straight into town is just a short walk away. The front desk can also call ahead for a taxi should you need one. The rooms are cozy and appears to have been recently renovated. The countless news television channels could have kept me in my room for hours on end. The lobby also features a bar in the rear, good for grabbing a quick cocktail just before the long night out.

I stayed at the Park Plaza Vondelpark during the month of September. The hotel was very nice and modern. The bathroom and shower were a little different but they usually are in Europe. They also had a very nice bar downstairs that had a very nice vibe. They served light snacks and drinks. I loved sitting by the fireplace after work and enjoying a glass of wine with a good book. The only downside about Vondelpark is the location, it isn’t by much, however the tram is just one block down.

The last time I visited Amsterdam I stayed in one of those typical teeny-tiny hotel rooms at the top of four flights of very steep stairs. This seems to be common in Amsterdam and many hotels are set up like this. The Park Plaza Vondelpark was nothing like this. It was very modern-looking and the room we stayed in featured air-conditioning, a flat screen, and a huge bathroom. We squeezed three people into the room and had space for all of our luggage. The only weird thing was the bathroom door/wall was frosted glass and semi-transparent, and there was not enough room to fully open the bathroom door without hitting the desk chair. This was minor for me, but I guess it could bother some people. The front desk staff were really helpful and the lobby area is really cool-looking. It reminded me of the Standard Hotel in Hollywood but was actually a much better experience overall. I would definitely stay here again if I’m in Amsterdam — it was very easy to catch the #2 tram from Centraal Station and reach the hotel within 15 minutes. Great location and very comfortable overall stay, especially for the price in the peak of summer(I got it on for around $ 140 a night).
